Hi, I am looking to fly from denver into chicago with UA arriving at 2.30pm. I have an international flight leaving at 6.00pm with Virgin Atlantic to the UK. Do I need to transfer between terminals and will this be enough time to transfer?

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 1 and depart from Terminal 5. The ATS train connects them outside security. If you purchased two separate tickets you will have to claim your baggage from United in T1 and take it with you on the train to T5. You have enough time.

Hi Im just booking my flights - london heathrow to ORD and then ORD to AZO. All same airline (US ariways) and same booking. is my luggage transfered automatically? do i have to go through passport control? there is 90 mins between the landing and the take off time is this enough? thanks for help, its my first time

First of all, both flights will be operated by American/American Eagle. Secondly you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then drop off your bags at the transfer desk, then go upstairs and take the ATS train to Terminal 3 then go through security and to your departure gate in concourse G. 90 minutes is enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hello Im flying from London to ORD with Virgin Atlantic. Then on a seperate booking im flying American Airlines from ORD to TYS (Knoxville) With it being a seperate booking, Will I still be ok to go through to transfer desk give AA my bags and proceed or do I need to go out of the airport and back in through Departures. Or other..... Cheers for any info. Much appreciated.

No, you will have to claim your bags from Terminal 5 and take them on the ATS train to Terminal 3 to re-check them with AA and pay a checked bag fee. You will need at least 2.5 hours for your transfer.

Thanks ZAP So in summary; Land at T5 / clear customs / get bags Take ATS to T3 (with bags) Go to AA checkin at T3 (Is this the same level we exit the ATS ?) Proceed throught security and go to gate. We are traveling on American Eagle and have first class so im hoping this will speed up the queing. We have 2h 40mins.

Yes, you have the procedure correct and yes that should be enough time.

Hi, I am arriving at ORD from DTE with Delta at 9:31. I then have to catch an international flight with Korean Airlines to Inchoen at Terminal 5. Flight is at 11:30. Do I have enough time to connect? Thank you.

Yes, that should be enough time. If you purchased your tickets together your bags will be transferred and you should be issued both boarding passes in Detroit, so you just have to take the ATS train from T2 to T5 and go through security.

I have a UA flight from LGA and arrives at ORD around 336PM and I have to make a connecting flight that leaves at 520 to Vancouver.. Both are with United Airlines. Do I have enough time? Do I need to clear customs? Do I need to claim my bags? ... Thank You

You only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in Terminal 1. You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs when you get to Vancouver.

I'm coming from Louisville (SDF Airport) to ORD what terminal is United Airlines in Chicago Airport? And then fly to ICN Airport for my International flight.

Your flight from Louisville will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 (likely 2). Your flight to ICN, if it is operated by Asiana or Korean, will depart from Terminal 5. They are connected outside security by the ATS Train.

Thanks for the information guys !

I'm coming in on United 882 from Tokyo. I have 2.5 hrs to make connection to Untited Flight 5554 going to Ottawa. Is that enough time? Which terminals do these flights use?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bag at the transfer desk. Then look at the monitor. if your departure gate starts with E or F, your departure gate will be in Terminal 2. If B or C, it will be in Terminal 1. Take the ATS Train to your departure terminal and go through security and to your departure gate.

Japan is a Visa Waiver Program country. Apparently I don't need to go through immigration if this is the case. Is that true? Also I am a Canadian Citizen.

That is incorrect. All passengers arriving in the US on international flights have to go through immigration, even if they are connecting on elsewhere. You just don't have to apply for a visa beforehand. However, you do have to complete ESTA.

Sorry, didn't see that you are Canadian. You do not have to complete ESTA, but you will have to go through US Immigration.

Hey guys how to get to terminal 5 from terminal 1 of Chicago International Airport (ORD) help is appreciated

The ATS train connects T5 and T1. There are ample signs upon exiting customs in T5.

Since we are traveling from multiple US cities to Copenhagen, I am booking ORD - CPH on SAS and then looking at booking our domestic seperate. Leaving 2 hours between flights on the return, will that be enough to get through customs and back to Alaska or American flights? SAS says they have interconnect baggage agreements with those airlines, so should be able to check baggage through.

If you purchase separate tickets the airlines are not obligated to check bags through. 2 Hours is barely possible when buying separate tickets. I'd want closer to 3 hours. Note that you will only have to go through US Customs upon arrival in the US. There is no exit passport control.

We're arriving at ORD, from Montréal, at 10:49 on Jan 17th with UA3493 and we have to catch UA1530 departing at 12:06 heading to LA. Is 77minutes enough time to connect? United change their flight plans. As we were originally having 115minutes between both flights I was comfortable booking it, but now that they change it, I'm stressing a tiny bit more! Thanks for your help!

77 minutes is still plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Travelling to Chicago ORD from denver via spirit airlines and landing at ORD terminal 3at 6.45 pm. have to board a etihad flight departing at 8.10 from terminal 5 . should i check in and print boarding passes at terminal 3 or 5

You can only check in in Terminal 5. Also, if you plan on checking bags you're going to have to get an earlier flight to Chicago as the flight you have doesn't leave you enough connection time.

If both tickets are bought together, then yes, that is enough time.

My husband and I will be on flying into ohare from fargo on american airline and connecting to emirates to dubai back to Kuala Lumpur with 4 luggages . Both flights not ticketed together how to carry 4 luggages onto the ATS ? Can we use the trolley and walk to terminal 5 from terminal 3? Pls help. Thank you very much.

It is impossible to walk from T3 to T5. You will just have to carry the bags on the ATS. Can't each of you hold one bag in each arm? Otherwise you can buy a foldable luggage cart and then re-pack it in your bags or throw it away when you get to T5.
