Hello, I fly Detroit to ORD and ORD to Amsterdam. Connection time is 1 hour and 15 minutes, flying United both flights. Is it enough? From what I saw, I should arrive to concourse B and fly from C

You could arrive in B, C, E, or F and will depart from B or C (usually C). All United gates at ORD are connected inside security. That should be enough time as long as your flight from Detroit is on-time.

Flying from Kansas City to ORD to Dublin. Will only have 40 minutes at ORD to connect to DUBLIN flight. All flights are on America. Is this enough time? Returning have 90 minutes to connect.

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3.

If an international flight connects in another state before arriving at phase is it then a domestic? I.e. Tel aviv-philidalphia-ohare

Your second flight is domestic. If it is on American you will arrive in Terminal 3 at O'Hare. You will go through US Immigration and Customs in Philadelphia.

What airlines are you flying? T3 to T2 connections are very rare.

United operated by skywest and united express.connecting flight is American operated by American eagle

If you mean the first flight is United Express you will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2. If the second flight is American Eagle you will depart from Terminal 3. All 3 terminals are connected inside security by walkways.

Hi I am arriving from orlando MCO into chicago ORD T3 at 19:15, with a Scandinavian airlines flight out from T5 at 22:05. The internal flight is with Spirit and has been flagged up as being frequently late and these are separate booking. Is 2.5hrs enough time ?

It's barely enough time. You will have to claim your bags from Spirit in T3 and take them with you on the airtrain to T5 to recheck with SAS.

Thank you for your helpful response. Just checked negative reviews for Spirit punctuality and have decided to go elsewhere, thx

Would like to meet local relative during stopover in Terminal 1. Hilton coffee shop is most comfy, but quite a trek from gates and back. Anyone know if even a coffee spot?

Sorry, just noticed in coffee listing of this app there is Starbcuks in baggage claim of T1 and T2!

Since you are going outside security anyway, I'd make the meeting at the Hilton. 5 minute walk from T1; underground and protected. The baggage claim Starbucks are minimal, w/ crummy seating. Hilton has a sports bar and Andiamo's, both of which are nice for an hour visit or something.

Hi. If my flight arrives in ORD from DEN at 10:42a, will I have enough time to make my flight to Boston at 11:50a? I am a US citizen traveling with three other flyers. Is 1 hour and 10 minutes enough for a connection? Thank you!

What airline are you flying? Are all tickets on the same reservation?

We are planning on flying on American Airlines. Thanks for the quick response!

Yes that should be enough time. All you have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you so much! Happy 2016!

I am flying from Edinburgh to Seattle via Chicago in June. Is 1 hour and 35 minutes enough time to change in Chicago? Will I arrive at terminal 5 and have to transfer to the other terminal? The whole trip is booked on United. I originally had a three hour transfer but they have just emailed me to say that the flight times have changed and now I only have an hour and a half.

Yes, that should be just enough time. Yes you will arrive in terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through customs, re-check your bags at the recheck desk, take the ATS train to Terminal 1 and go through security and to your departure gate.

Barely... Whether you make it or not, be prepared for stress, long immigration lines (assume you are not a US citizen), customs is a hit or miss (most likely you'll pass thru quickly, assuming there are not multiple international flight arrivals within a 45min time span), getting your bags can be a nightmare (anywhere from 5-30mins after immigration), rechecking your bags to Seattle should be very quick (it's right outside the customs door to your right) and I've rarely seen a line, the tram... I've never taken the tram from Terminal 5 to 1, so I have no tips there. Once you get to terminal 1 (United), again another hit or miss since you will have to thru now our US Security check; that is a nightmare.... Oh, and the walk from your arrival flight to immigrations seriously seems like at 1/4 a 1/2 miles. I do a jog just to get ahead of everyone to avoid lines. I'm flying back to Chicago (home) from the EU regularly and so do friends that I pick up. I would estimate an average 40-45mins from the plane to the door just outside of customs. I, and friends, have definitely experienced 1.5hours to get out. Tip... If you purchase liquids and/or glass during your travel to Chicago, you MUST pack it into your luggage prior to rechecking your bags to Seattle. US carriers and TSA rules do not allow liquids and/or glass into the cabin.

In March, I'm flying with my family from Cancun to Toronto connecting in Chicago on the same United booking. Do i need to claim my bags and go through customs and then recheck them straight to Toronto? Or will I not see my bags again until I get to Toronto?

Yes, in Chicago you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go up two levels to the ATS Train, take it to either terminal 1 or 2, go through security and to your departure gate. If your departure gate begins with B or C go to Terminal 1, if it starts with E or F, go to Terminal 2.

How do I know when I have to claim my bags? I am traveling from FAR to MNL through NRT and ORD and on the way back I go to Den I have never known if I should claim my checked bag or not . I know my carry on is fine?

Assuming all flights are on the same reservation, On your way to Manila you won't claim your bags until you get to Manila. On the way back you will claim them in Denver after you go through US Immigration and before you go through US Customs, then you will immediately re-check them at the re-check desk.

My husband and I will be traveling from STL to Cancun (CUN) next month. We have a connection in ORD both ways. 1hr going and 90min coming back. Is this long enough? We are flying UNITED and all fights are on the same reservation. Thanks!

On your way to Cancun all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time. On your way back, in Chicago, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go up 2 levels, take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, and go through security. Check the monitors, if your departure gate to STL starts with E or F get off the train in Terminal 2, if it starts with B or C, take it to Terminal 1. You have barely enough time on your way back, but United has frequent flights from ORD to STL if you are late.

  • ORD connection from Detroit to Abu Dhabi

I have American Airlines flight from Detroit to Chicago and Etihad flight from Chicago to AbuDhabi, do i need to collect check-in bags in ORD and check-in again in the other terminal for Etihad or will they be directly transferred ?

You will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs. If you purchased your tickets on one reservation and your bags are tagged through to DTW, you can drop them at the re-check desk in Terminal 5 after you clear customs. If they are only tagged to ORD, you will have to bring them with you on the ATS Train to Terminal 3 to re-check them at the American Airlines ticket counter.

Thank you for the response, I think you got question wrong, I am traveling from Detroit to AbuDhabi.

Sorry. Either way the response is pretty similar. If you purchased one reservation then your bags should be checked through to Abu Dhabi and you won't have to do anything with them in Chicago. If you purchased two separate reservations then you will have to claim your bags in T3, take them on the ATS Train, and re-check them with Etihad in Terminal 5. Either way you will have to go through security in Terminal 5.

I am a Canadian citizen flying from Waterloo Regional airport to LAX via Amercian Eagle connecting in Chicago. I have 2 hours 25 minutes to connect. I do not know which terminal I arrive at or leave from for LAX. Is this enough time to clear customs and catch my connecting flight? Can you give me a step by step guide from landing, to clearing customs, to getting to my gate for my connecting flight?

I'm assuming you're coming from Waterloo/Kitchener Airport in Ontario, not Waterloo, Iowa. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go up two levels, take the ATS Train to Terminal 3 and go through security. your flight will depart from the H/K concourse. You have enough time.

Hi there in flying in on the 28th From Heathrow to Chicago terminal 5 and then have a 2 and a half connection to go through security and customs to get to terminal 1 and leave for Kansas. I've never flown before so as you can tell anxiety is getting the best of me but I was just wondering if that was enough time between flights?

Yes, that is enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk immediately after, then go up 2 levels to the ATS Train and ride it to Terminal 1 and go through security and to your departure gate.
