Hello. My Lufthansa flight arrives in Chicago from Munich at 6:55 pm on Jan 11 at Terminal 5. I have 2 hours 15 minutes to get through passport control, get my checked bag, go through customs then go to Terminal 2 for a United Airlines flight to Detroit at 9:10 pm. Do I have enough time? Are the passport control and customs very busy at that time?
I want to add I have one Booking reference for all flights.
Yes, that is enough time. Immigration will not be very busy in the early evening on a Wednesday in January.
Thank you!
I arrive from Amsterdam to ORD at 2:30 and my flight to go home leaves from ORD at 4:10... Is that enough time?
That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. What airlines are you flying?
I am leaving Cancun Mexico to fly to Toronto Canada flying with united airlines.
I have a 1.5 hour connection and require to change from terminal 5 to terminal 1. Is this enough time? As I am leaving to return to Canada do I need to go through immigration?
Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.
I will be flying into ORD via Austrian Airlines, scheduled to arrive at 1:55pm. I have a domestic transfer flight on United scheduled to leave at 3:55pm. I will not have any checked luggage and have TSA precheck. Is two hours enough time to get through customs and security for my connecting flight?
Yes, that should be enough time.
I booked my flight through united web , I flight from ROA to ORD then connect to EVA airways , in my ticket it said premier access , that it meant ?
What exactly is your question? You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 (likely 2), then have to take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. You will not have priority security in Terminal 5 unless you are flying business class.
Hello. I had to book my international flight on two separate tickets. I will be flying United from DAY to ORD and Lufthansa from ORD to FRA. Will I need to exit the terminal and re-enter security in ORD? Thank you.
You can try showing your Lufthansa confirmation to the United agent in Dayton and ask that your bags be checked through to Dayton. If they won't/can't, you will have to exit security to claim your bags, re-check them with Lufthansa, and go through security. If you don't have checked bags, then as long as you can get your Lufthansa boarding pass, you don't have to exit security.
Thank you! I won't have checked luggage. I will not need to get my passport checked prior to the gate?
No, there's no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. As long as you are able to check in online you just have to show your passport when boarding the flight.
I've just booked tickets from Washington to Calgery with a 42 minute layover in Chicago. All flights are with United and after paying it was flagged as a "Risky Connection".
Will there be enough time. We will be travelling with checked baggage
It's enough time if the first flight is on-time. It doesn't leave much time to spare.
Hi I am interested in booking a flight from Toronto to Honolulu with a 1hour 26min layover in ORD. Is this enough time? I'll be flying with United Airlines.
Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto, so all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.
Thanks for answering! Do you know if they are pretty close together?
You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Concourse C of Terminal 1. There is a walkway connecting Terminal 1 and 2 inside security.
Hey one more question. For my return flight from Honolulu to Toronto there is also a layover again in ORD for 1hour 36min, would this be enough? Would we have to go through customs at ORD? Still both flights with United
There is no US Customs when leaving the US. Again, all you have to do on the return is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. That is enough time. You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Toronto.
Hi, I have a 50 connection arriving Eagle from Toronto to outbound AA to Shanghai at ORD. Will I pre-clear U.S. customs at TOR, if so, I guess looking at typical dash from commuter gates to main line AA?
Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. You will arrive in Concourse G or L and depart from Concourse H or K. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.
Hello, I'll be landing in ORD at 4:00pm from Vancouver. I have a separate flight booked on a different airline to fly from ORD to BOS at 6:30pm. No checked bags. Is 2 1/2 hours enough to clear customs and make it through security to the connecting flight?
You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You will not arrive in the International Terminal. What airlines are you flying?
Oh, so no customs will be needed in Chicago? Flying in to Vancouver and Chicago on United, departing on American Airlines. If I need three hours, I can also depart on Jet Blue instead.
Right, so all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You can walk all the way from Terminal 1 where you arrive to Terminal 3 where you depart inside security through Terminal 2. Check in online for your AA flight before leaving Vancouver. You have enough time.
