Flying from ROC to ORD, then ORD to COU. Only 58 min layover. I am handicapped and wonder if this is enough time. Have a wheelchair on call with AA. Do the small planes CR145 which I am on both legs land in same terminal? Thank you, Donna

Yes, both flights will be in Terminal 3, likely both on concourse G (although there's a small chance that one or both flights will be on concourse L).

    Thank you Zap.

I fly from Toronto to Chicago to Utah with 1 1/2 hour for change from Terminal 2 to terminal 1. Do I have to go through customs & security? Will I have time to catch connecting flight?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time. There is a walkway between Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 inside security.

If we fly United (a codeshare with Air Canada) into ORD from DEN can we stay airside before boarding an Air Canada flight to YUL?

Yes, there is a walkway between Terminal 1 where you arrive and Terminal 2 where you depart inside security and there is no US Customs when leaving the US.

    Merci!

I will be flying in from Des Moines on a United flight and have a 2 hour 5 minute layover in Chicago. My next flight is United operated by Swiss Air to Zurich. Is this enough time? Will I go through security again and change terminals?

You will be arriving in Terminal 1 or 2 and leaving from Terminal 5 which means you will have to change terminals and go through security again. Two ours should be sufficient time.

I'm flying from Cincinnati to ORD with a 1 hour 20 minute layover before my next flight which is to Vienna (VIE). But I arrive in Terminal 2 via UA5248 and have to transfer to Terminal 5 for a Austria Airlines flight OS066. Two questions: [1] Must I go through security to enter the international terminal? [2] Is 1:20 enough time?

Yes you will have to go through security when changing terminals and 1hr 20min will be enough time.

flying United SFO-ORD-CLE, landing in ORD 5:15AM and just informed the layover's been shortened to 45 minutes. Is that enough time?

If the gates are in the same terminal and nearby you should be ok if the flights are on time or early. Next time go nonstop if you can. Did you buy them on separate tickets? If you did you will have to recheck your bags, but if you didn't buy them on different tickets then you should be ok if it's on time or early.

Yes, that is enough time - all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Redeye flights usually arrive early.

We are flying from Edmonton Canada to Chicago with a 40 minute layover for a connecting flight to Nashville. Something tells me this is not enough time????

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Edmonton. You have enough time if your flight from Edmonton is on-time.

Hi, I have a 60 minute connecting time in O'hare between my arrival from Phoenix to my departure to Brussels (I arrive at 1650 and depart at 1750. All flights are on United. Is 60 minutes enough given my switching from a domestic to an international flight at O'hare? Will I need to switch terminals ?

Yes, that is enough time. You do not have to change terminals. Both flights are in Terminal 1. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Awesome, thanks a lot!

Am flying from Shannon Airport into Chicago. Then have flight to Denver. There is only 45 minutes in between flights. Would this be enough time?

If both flights are on United then you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate and it's just enough time.

Thank You. It would involve moving from Terminal 5 to 1. And would we need to go through security etc?

United arrivals from Shannon do not arrive in Terminal 5. Only Aer Lingus ones do.

  • 60 Min Layover - Arr Luftansa Dep United on same reservation

Is 60 minutes enough time arriving on LH (FRA - ORD - MCO) and departing for MCO on United. Not sure if I even need to change terminals or if immigration will slow us down enough. We both have Global Entry. This is also on a Saturday (6.25.16).

With global entry and no checked bags it might be possible, but I personally wouldn't try it. You will arrive in Terminal 5 and depart from Terminal 1.

I will be flying on United from IAH and will arrive Ohare Terminal 1. We have a Terminal change and 45 minutes to get to our connecting flight to Ottawa. Is there some way to get there besides walking? The last time we did this we would have missed the plane if it hadn't been delayed. Is there something we can request to get us there in time? Thanks

The only way is walking. It honestly shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes.

I'm travelling from Vegas - ORD - Manchester (UK). I have a layover time of 55minutes in ORD. Both my connecting flights are AA and my arrival and departure is into/from Terminal 3. I will have 2 checked cases. I'm just wondering whether I have to collect my cases, go through customs, security etc or whether it will be done for me considering the flights are on one ticket and I will be in the same terminal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You don't have to do anything with your bags or go through security. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

You will need to collect them and go through customs when you return to the US but you will not need to do that on the way to the UK.

Will be getting flight from Denver to Ohare and then connecting flight to ABE. United Flight will land in terminal 1 and then have to go to terminal 2 to get United Express flight to ABE. About how long does it take to walk from say a B5 gate to a F22 gate. Trying to figure out in case my plane is late landing in Ohare how fast I have to run to make the connecting flight. Only have 45 minutes between flights if on time. Worried about if my flight is late landing in Ohare.

It will take about 5-10 minutes to walk that.

We are traveling SFO-ORD-FCO Rome on United with a connection time of 1hr and checked luggage. How do we navigate that and do we have enough time? Do we have to go through security again?

You do not have to go through security or do anything with your bags on your way to Rome. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 1. You have enough time.
