Flying from Salt Lake City to Toronto Canada with plane change in Chicago ORD. Is an hour enough for plane change (do I switch terminals or go through security again) and will my bag get checked straight through? (I'm on the same airline for both legs.) Thanks!

Yes your bag will be checked through and all your gates will be connected inside security so you should have enough time.

  • will i make it

'm a U.S. citizen flying from Toronto to O'Hare on to San Fran then Honolulu. I have 1.38 hours in Chicago. Will I make it. United booked this for me but it sounds tight. On United all flights. Thur. 1:35p arrival.

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto so all you will have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which are all connected inside security.

Thank you. One more question. I'll have checked bags. Will I have to recheck? Or do they get sent straight through? Much appreciated!

You won't have to claim your bags in Chicago

Thank you. You have been a great help!

    All went well. Thanks again.

  • Connection Time
    Feb 22, 2014
Arriving at 1315 on UA929 from LHR into T5 then need to get to T1 for the 1455 UA3390 flight to STL. Purchased as one ticket. We will have checked baggage. Will 1.40hr be enough?

Yes, that should be enough time. After you clear customs you can re-check your baggage with United. Then you will take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or 2 (3390 could leave from either, so check the monitors before you depart) and go through security.

Many thanks for your speedy reply, much appreciated.

  • Do I have enough time between flights
    Feb 23, 2014
I'm scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 9:16am on UA3620 on May 25, 2014, and depart on an ANA flight NH011 at 10:50am. I believe the UA flight arrives at Terminal 2 and the ANA flight departs from Terminal 1. Is it possible to transit between terminals 1 and 2 without going through security again? If so, where is the connection between terminals?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Terminal 2 and 1 are connected beyond security by a walkway that connects to T2 at the base of the concourse and to T1 near B3. There are plenty of signs.

Thanks. Through another source I see there are two options, depending on which concourse my departing flight is leaving from. It seems there's a free shuttle to one concourse and the walkway you describe leads to the other.

I wouldn't take the shuttle - it runs very infrequently and is slow. Also, the ANA flights always leave from Concourse B (the high-numbered end - B15 or B16)

Thank you very much for your advice. It looks like I'll head straight for the walkway.

I was just at o'hare yesterday and it appears ANA is using C10 as well.

  • Do I have enough time between flights

I fly to O'Hare from Kitchener, Canada at 7:25am and the connecting flight leaves at 8:00am for Tampa. Do I pick up my luggage and go through customs at O'Hare? Is 35 min enough to catch my connecting flight? Are the flights in the same terminal? US Airways 1679 to USAirways 8060? Thank you!

I assume you depart from Ottawa which has US customs clearance (Kitchener-Waterloo AP has no US Airways). Your bags will be transferred as you arrive/ depart in same Terminal 2 - US Airways uses both E or F gates - your ticket & overhead screens will indicate flight & gate number. You have sufficient transfer time.

Completely disregard safeb's post. You are likely on American Eagle from Kitchener to O'Hare and American from O'Hare to Tampa. If that's the case you will NOT have enough time as Kitchener does not have pre-clearance. You will arrive in Terminal 5, have to claim your bags after you go through immigration, go through customs, then re-check them. Then take the ATS train to Terminal 3, then go through security. You need at least 90 minutes to do all that. However, please double check the flight times for all that as I'm not showing that those flights arrive and depart at the times you say.

I depart from Kitchener. I talked to a customer service representative and they told me the same about Terminal 2 E & F and that I would clear customs in Tampa. Let's hope!

US Airways 4408 Operated by AMERICAN EAGLE AIRLINES US Airways 229 Operated by AMERICAN AIRLINES My mistake about the flight numbers. These are the correct ones.

Whoever told you that is wrong. You will go through US Immigration in Chicago. 35 minutes is not enough time for your connection. None of your flights will be in Terminal 2. The US Airways customer service agents probably aren't familiar with ORD connections yet. Unless your flight from Kitchener arrives very early or your flight to Tampa is delayed you have no chance of making that connection.

My research so far tells me that I land in Terminal 2 and the second flight from Terminal 3 but the gate they note is not on the map. Gate F79.

Your research is wrong. No American or American Eagle flights use Terminal 2. Here is the Kitchener-Chicago flight from yesterday morning. You can see that it arrives in Concourse M, which is in Terminal 5- http://flightaware.com/live/flight/EGF3022/history/20140214/1130Z/CYKF/KORD

Interesting that the airlines offer such flights!

US Airways and American are in the process of merging. All the airports in Canada that US Airways currently flies to have preclearance. They and their systems probably weren't aware that Kitchener didn't have preclearance when they allowed the ticket to be sold.

After speaking to AA & US Airways and Kitchener Airport it appears this flight should have never been scheduled and they have reported it to their IT department and changed my flight! I feel much better now! lol

  • Enough Connection Time?
    Feb 10, 2014
Will be arriving at Terminal 5 coming from Montego Bay at 4:40 PM. Connecting flight leaves from Terminal 1 at 6:00 PM. Is this enough time?

It'll be tough. Where are you flying to and on what airline(s)?

Flying on United 1705 from Montego Bay, returning to Springfield, MO on United flight 3416

If you don't have checked bags you should have enough time if your first flight is on-time. Check the monitors or united.com on your mobile device to see what terminal your gate to Springfield will depart from - it will likely depart from concourse E or F of Terminal 2 but it could depart from Terminal 1. If you have checked bags you will have to claim them after immigration, go through customs, and then re-check them in Terminal 5, then take the ATS train to Terminal 2 or 1, then go through security and to your gate. Everything will have to go very smoothly to have enough time if you have checked bags.

  • united connections

Hi-- I'm flying in on June 11 on flight UA5842 and leaving on flightUA371. I have an hour and tweety minute layover. Is that enough time to make connections? Thanks

Yes, if UA5842 is a domestic flight then you should have enough time. All United gates at ORD are connected inside security.

  • how much time for customs?
    Feb 9, 2014
We are arriving at T5 on Turkish Airlines at 6:50 pm and need to catch a flight that night to San Francisco. How much time should we allow to get through customs and to get our departing gate for AA or United? We are not checking bags, carry-ons only. Thanks!

I would leave about 2 hours which is about perfect because both of those airlines likely have a flight to SFO that leaves at about 9 PM.
