  • Short layover in ORD on Aer Lingus flight from MSP to Dublin
    Feb 22, 2016
    1
My daughter is flying Aer Lingus from MSP to Dublin connecting in ORD this Friday 2/26. She departs MSP on United Express for Aer Lingus EI6336 arriving at ORD Terminal 1 at 5:59 pm. She departs ORD on Aer Lingus EI0124 from Terminal 5 at 7:25 pm. This is her first time to ORD and she is concerned about the short layover. Can she make her connection in time given that this is an extremely busy time of day? Also please describe what she has to do after deplaning at ORD to get to her international flight. Thank you.

Once she will arrive in ORD she just has to follow signs to Terminal 5 (a yellow box with a 5 in it). These will lead her to the ATS Train. She will take it to Terminal 5 and then go through security. She has enough time if her flight from MSP is on-time.

  • Transfer International to domestic all on AA

Scheduled into T5 at 3:20pm from UK and due to leave for SFO at 5:10pm all on AA. Is that enough time

That should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Connection Time Between Terminal 2 and 3

I am arriving from Toronto at 10:57 and departing from terminal 3 at 12:35 for Narita, Japan. Is that enough time?

With no checked baggage that should be no problem. However, with checked baggage everything will have to go perfectly for you to claim your bags from Air Canada then re-check them with JAL or AA if you have two separate reservations.

there will be checked baggage, do you think there is a high possibility of not making the second flight?

Yes, if your tickets are on two separate reservations I think it will be difficult for you to make this with checked bags.

I've just been informed that the bags get passed on from one plane to another, does that make this more feasible? I booked the entire trip through an online booking agent (Airline Ticket Centre). Sorry for all the questions, this will be my first time flying alone so not sure what to expect. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Also, they are both on the same reservation as I booked from Toronto to Sydney as one package.

Yes, in that case then you can make this connection. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are all connected inside security.

Great to hear, thank you for all of your help!

I arrive from YYZ (Toronto) at Terminal 1 and have 50 minutes before my next flight departs to OKC from Terminal 2...will I have enough time to make my connection?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto and T1 and T2 are connected inside security by a walkway. All you have to do in ORD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I am arriving ORD from SFO San Francisco to fly to New York LGA and have 55 min to transfer. Is it enough time? What if I dont have a luggage, only carry on with me?

Yes, that is enough time either with checked baggage or without. All you have to do in ORD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hi, I am traveling from Amsterdam to SFO through ORD on Thu March 24. Both flights are with United and layover is 3:05. Will this be enough to clear Immigration and Customs, re-check baggage and make it to the next flight?

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Connecting time is 90 mins

We are travelling from India to Raleigh, USA thru Qatar Airways. We have connecting time 90 mins in ORD, we need to go from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 and also need to clear immigration. Do you think we can make it in 90 mins?

90 minutes is barely possible if everything goes perfectly. If you miss your connection AA does have one later flight to RDU at 6:35 PM.

  • Connection YUL-ORD-NRT

Hi, We are flying from YUL with ANA 3759 operated by United to ORD and have only 1h 25 to catch ANA 113 to Narita. Is that enough time?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. You should have enough time. All you have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Note that the first flight will be operated by United Express or Air Canada Express.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I leave USA for France with a flight DFW-ORD-CDG. The connection time at ORD is 55 minutes. Is this enough ? Thanks.

The 2 flights are American Airlines Arrive to T3 and departure from T3.

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on the H/K concourse of T3.

we have a 43 layover at ORD before we go to OKC. what terminal will be arriving near. and would we have time to stop at one of the United Clubs at the airport, and which would be closest upon arrival, or departure to OKC if time permits us?

43 minutes is not enough time to stop at a United Club. You didn't post where you're flying into ORD from so I have no clue where you will arrive.

we're flying from CAK to ORD and will have 43 minutes before leaving ORD to go to OKC. I think United airlines drops us off at Terminal 1, so do you think we will have any time to stop by the United Club?

Your flight from Akron will almost definitely arrive in Terminal 2 and your flight to OKC will more than likely depart from there as well. There is a United Club in T2 as well, but as I said, with only 43 minutes there isn't really any time.

  • Connection for International flight

Hi! We are flying United from our home airport to Punta Cana with a 50 minute connection O'Hare. Our ticket notes a terminal change (?) but all of our flights are United. Will 50 minutes be sufficient?

I should clarify our home airport is domestic!

Most United Express flights arrive at Terminal 2, it is connected inside security to Terminal 1 where you depart. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Thank you! Good to know they are connected - hard to tell from the airport map

  • Connection within terminal 3 G20 to K9 in 55 mins?
    Feb 17, 2016

Hi. I'm arriving into Term 3 Gate G20 and need to get to Gate K9 (in Term 3 too) for a flight to London. I have hand luggage only and the connection time is 55 minutes. Assuming the incoming flight is on time, is this do-able? Are there any security checks to go through between G20 and K9 in Term 3? Many thanks

No, there are no security checks. You just have to get your valet gate checked bag if you end up having to gate check due to the small American Eagle aircraft on your first flight, and then go to K9. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Thanks Zap. I had to check in my bag at the gate on the same type of plane when I came in from JFK, so I'm assuming the same will happen this time. So, it's just fingers crossed that the Cincinnati to O'Hare is on time. Thanks again for the reply. DOM

Never been to Chicago airport before. I fly from Tampa to Chicago and then home to Dublin with a 2 hour layover. I need to get from terminal 1 to terminal 5. Have I enough time?

That should be enough time. You just take the ATS Train from T1 to T5 and go through security.

Hi, We are flying from Toronto landing at 757 am and are looking to hit our connecting flight to Maui for a 930am departure. We are flying United on both flight!

Yes, that should be enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.

  • 75 mins enough for connection in ORD?
    Feb 15, 2016

Good day! I will connect in ORD but with 75 mins only. The ititerary will be Tampa -> ORD -> Beijing China, all fights are American Airlines. Could you kindly advisor whether 75 mins is enough? And general procedure in ORD? Thanks a lot!

All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on the H/K concourse of Terminal 3. As long as your flight from Tampa is on-time you should have plenty of time.

Thanks ZAP for your reply! But shall I go through immegration and customs in between the arrival and departure gate? Since this is a domestic to internaltional transit and I'm holding Chinese citizen. Thanks, again!

There is no US Immigration and Customs when leaving the US.
