  • Connecting fron YYZ to DFW
    Jan 2, 2015
I am arriving in ORD from Toronto (YYZ) on a United Flight & have a connecting flight on AA to DFW. Is 62 minutes enough time to make the connection? Is baggage cleared through to DFW from YYZ?

If you purchased your tickets together then yes, you will pre-clear US Customs and Immigration in Toronto and your bags will be transferred. However, if you bought two separate tickets you do not have enough time to claim your bags from United and then Re-check them with American. You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Terminal 3. All three terminals are connected inside security by walkways.

So this flight from YYZ via United will not arrive at Terminal 5 - The International terminal for United?

Correct, United flights from Canadian airports with preclearance, like Toronto, arrive in Terminal 1 and 2.,

  • Connecting Flight from IAH to CDG
    Dec 31, 2015
I am flying on United from Houston IAH to Paris CDG. Connection time at ORD shows to be 50 min. Is this enough time for any terminal change, security and customs?

You don't have to change terminals, go through security, or go through customs. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate from your arrival gate. Both will be in Terminal 1. You have enough time.

  • United connection

I have connecting flights in ORD with 55 minute connect time. Any idea how to determine which terminals flights will be located? Trying to determine if we can make short changeover time. United flight 1087 PHL-ORD arrives at 9 am. Departing flight 6318 departs for ASE at 955am. Thank you.

You will arrive in Terminal 1 and depart from Terminal 1 or 2. If you need to go to 2 it is connected to 1 inside security by a walkway. You have enough time.

  • United Airlines terminals...
    Dec 29, 2015
If I am flying in from Cleveland to ORD on United what terminal will that be ?? There are 3 listed on the airport site....

Your flight might arrive in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, but all United Baggage Claim is in Terminal 1 if you are checking a bag. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are also connected inside security by a walkway if you're making a connection.

  • 45 minutes connection time
    Dec 29, 2015
Im planning flight on 30th April from Orlando (MCO) to Chicago (ORD) BA 5184 - landing at 15.55 , where i have to catch flight BA 1543 to London with 45min transfer time. Is it enough to make transfer? And, please, can you describe me the transfer process? Thank you very much.

Both flights will be operated by American Airlines and both be on the H or K concourse of Terminal 3. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Arriving from Toronto with United and departing to Honolulu with United with a 1 hour 18 minute connection time....is that enough time?...Thanks

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All United gates in Chicago are connected inside security.

  • 1 hr to Connect in O'hare
    Dec 29, 2015
Fly from San Francisco to O'hare with United #734 , then have 1 hr to connect to DTW - UA 3642. What terminal in O'Hare for flight UA 734 & UA 3642? Are they at the same terminal? How to connect? Thank you for your advice.

You will arrive in Terminal 1. You may depart from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. There is a walkway between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 inside security, just follow the signs. You have enough time.

  • Terminal 1 to 2
    Dec 29, 2015
I have four students who will have 42 minutes to make a connection at O'Hare, coming from Houston and going to Winnipeg (Canada). Do we have enough time to go from T1 to T2? What would be the fastest way? Thanks in advance for your help!

There is a walkway in between terminals inside security, just follow the signs to the E/F gates, however, be sure to check the monitors or united.com first, many Winnipeg flights leave from Terminal 1 even though they are on United Express.

Thanks - our tickets currently say T2 for the second flight, but fingers crossed for the same terminal! Does anyone know the timing for that walk?

The terminal listed on tickets is commonly wrong. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk between 1 and 2 (closest point to closest point). The worst possible United connection at ORD only takes 15-20 minutes.

  • 57 MIN Layover
    Dec 22, 2014
Is a 57 minute lay-over give enough time? We are arriving from SEA then continuing on to FLL.

If both of your flights are on American or both of your flights are on United, then yes, you have enough time.

Ok thanks. That was all that was available for the rewards so I feel better know. Had a bad experience in SFO with a 40 minute last year

  • 38 min transfer
    Dec 21, 2014
Hi, we arrive tomorrow at ORD at 1:37pm with flight UA616 coming from San Francisco and go to take flight UA944 departing at 2:15pm going to Frankfurt. Transfer time is thus 38 min. Is it possible to catch this flight and will the checked luggage follow? Do we have to go through security and passport check? Thank you

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in Terminal 1. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • enough time to pick up luggage and transfer
    Dec 20, 2014
Arriving in O'Hara from Tokyo, terminal 5 on Japan Airlines operated by American Airlines. Only have 2 hours to get luggage, and go to terminal 3, leaving to Cleveland. Is this enough time?

Yes, that is enough time. You will claim your bags before going through US Customs, but can re-check them at the transfer desk immediately after. You will then take the ATS Train to Terminal 3, go through security and to your departure gate.

  • 45 mins transfer time

I am taking United flight 224 to ORD and connecting to ANA flight 1011 to Narita. Will my arrivial be in Terminal 1 as I know ANA is departing in terminal 1 and also is 45mins sufficient?

Yes, United 224 will arrive in Terminal 1. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. As long as your first flight is on-time you have enough time.

I will be arriving to ORD on United 2005 and connecting to ANA 11 for NRT. The layover is 1 hour. Will I need to recheck baggage/security? Will the departing gate be in the same terminal? Thanks in advance!

  • 45mins transfer

  • Short cut transfer?
    Dec 20, 2014
In the past, when I've flown through ORD and needed to get from T3 (AA flight) to T5 (BA flight) and already had my boarding pass, I went to a certain spot and was bused directly to T5 and didn't have to go through security again. Is that still possible? If so, where in T3 was it?

Yes, it is still there. It leaves from Gates G17 and K20.

  • Luggage transfer between T1 and T5
    Dec 19, 2014
Hello - We land in Chicago O'Hare Terminal 1 on a United Airlines flight from Phoenix and we need to catch a British Airways flight from Terminal 5 to London. We have close to a 4hr layover. The question is will United Airline accept to check through the luggage from Phoenix all the way to London? And if not, what is the simplest way to get our luggage from Terminal 1 over to Terminal 5 in Chicago? We will have a lot of luggage and it will be impossible for my wife and I to handle on our won on top of two small children. Many thanks!

If you purchased all your tickets together United will transfer your bags to British Airways for you. If you did not, you will have to transfer it yourself via the ATS train. Your options are to either pack what you can carry or to purchase a foldable luggage cart and pack it in your luggage on the way to Chicago, then unpack it and use it in Chicago, then re-pack it or throw it out before checking your bags with BA.
