I arrive from Amsterdam to ORD at 2:30 and my flight to go home leaves from ORD at 4:10... Is that enough time?

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. What airlines are you flying?

  • 1.5 hour connection time

Hello, I am leaving Cancun Mexico to fly to Toronto Canada flying with united airlines. I have a 1.5 hour connection and require to change from terminal 5 to terminal 1. Is this enough time? As I am leaving to return to Canada do I need to go through immigration? Thanks

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, then go through security and to your departure gate. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I will be flying into ORD via Austrian Airlines, scheduled to arrive at 1:55pm. I have a domestic transfer flight on United scheduled to leave at 3:55pm. I will not have any checked luggage and have TSA precheck. Is two hours enough time to get through customs and security for my connecting flight?

Yes, that should be enough time.

I booked my flight through united web , I flight from ROA to ORD then connect to EVA airways , in my ticket it said premier access , that it meant ?

What exactly is your question? You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 (likely 2), then have to take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. You will not have priority security in Terminal 5 unless you are flying business class.

  • International Flights - Separate Tickets

Hello. I had to book my international flight on two separate tickets. I will be flying United from DAY to ORD and Lufthansa from ORD to FRA. Will I need to exit the terminal and re-enter security in ORD? Thank you.

You can try showing your Lufthansa confirmation to the United agent in Dayton and ask that your bags be checked through to Dayton. If they won't/can't, you will have to exit security to claim your bags, re-check them with Lufthansa, and go through security. If you don't have checked bags, then as long as you can get your Lufthansa boarding pass, you don't have to exit security.

Thank you! I won't have checked luggage. I will not need to get my passport checked prior to the gate?

No, there's no US Immigration or Customs when leaving the US. As long as you are able to check in online you just have to show your passport when boarding the flight.

  • Transit through ORD travelling from Washington to Calgary (United)

Hi I've just booked tickets from Washington to Calgery with a 42 minute layover in Chicago. All flights are with United and after paying it was flagged as a "Risky Connection". Will there be enough time. We will be travelling with checked baggage

It's enough time if the first flight is on-time. It doesn't leave much time to spare.

  • Toronto to Honolulu

Hi I am interested in booking a flight from Toronto to Honolulu with a 1hour 26min layover in ORD. Is this enough time? I'll be flying with United Airlines.

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto, so all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks for answering! Do you know if they are pretty close together?

You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Concourse C of Terminal 1. There is a walkway connecting Terminal 1 and 2 inside security.

    Thanks!

Hey one more question. For my return flight from Honolulu to Toronto there is also a layover again in ORD for 1hour 36min, would this be enough? Would we have to go through customs at ORD? Still both flights with United

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. Again, all you have to do on the return is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. That is enough time. You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Toronto.

Hi, I have a 50 connection arriving Eagle from Toronto to outbound AA to Shanghai at ORD. Will I pre-clear U.S. customs at TOR, if so, I guess looking at typical dash from commuter gates to main line AA?

Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. You will arrive in Concourse G or L and depart from Concourse H or K. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

  • Arriving in international terminal, separate domestic connection

Hello, I'll be landing in ORD at 4:00pm from Vancouver. I have a separate flight booked on a different airline to fly from ORD to BOS at 6:30pm. No checked bags. Is 2 1/2 hours enough to clear customs and make it through security to the connecting flight?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You will not arrive in the International Terminal. What airlines are you flying?

Oh, so no customs will be needed in Chicago? Flying in to Vancouver and Chicago on United, departing on American Airlines. If I need three hours, I can also depart on Jet Blue instead.

Right, so all you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You can walk all the way from Terminal 1 where you arrive to Terminal 3 where you depart inside security through Terminal 2. Check in online for your AA flight before leaving Vancouver. You have enough time.

  • IS 2Hrs 40m Enough?

Hello, I am student travelling for the 1st time to usa.I need to travel to Indianapolis.I'll reach ORD terminal 2 at 6:30 am and need to take United airlines at 9:10 am.Is 2 hrs 40 mins enough time with all security and baggage check up? will it be painful and hassle? What if i missed?

What airline are you flying into Chicago? Where are you coming from?

Travelling from HYD to ORD flight AI 127 . Then need to catch UA3668 schedule to departure at 9:10

You will not arrive in Terminal 2. You will arrive in Terminal 5. There you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk (if they are tagged to IND), then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, go through security and to your departure gate. You get off the Train in T2 if your departure gate starts with an E or an F and get off in T1 if it begins with a B or C. You have enough time if everything is on the same reservation and the Air India flight is on-time.

  • Is 50 min enough time?
    Dec 28, 2016

Hi. I am flying into ORD and catching a connecting flight to Brussels. I only have 50 mins between landing in ORD, getting to the international terminal, and getting through security again to catch my flight. This sounds pretty risky to me. It this timeline even a possibility?

No flights to Brussels depart from the International Terminal. If both flights are on United you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 1/2. All United gates are connected inside security. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time.

I've booked a trip to Vegas in March and I've always flown nonstop. This time I have 1 stop each way and I'm worried and not sure what the process is, would I have enough time and what do I do about my luggage in the hold. I'm a British passport holder This flight operated by United from London to Chicago landing in Terminal 5 and the next plane is also operated by United from Chicago Terminal 1 to Las Vegas and the time between flights in 1 hour 55

You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the ATS Train to Terminal 1, go through security and to your departure gate. You should have just enough time.

thank, I was debating on bring a hold on case rather than checking one in to save a bit of time. Ideally I would like to bring a bigger case but I'm not sure if this will delay things

I have a connection at ORD coming from Winnipeg, Canada and flying to LHR. Is 1 hour 5 min enough time to make the connection? Thanks.

Yes, that is enough time if both flights are on United. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Winnipeg.

  • I am flying AA from PHX To ORD and departing on United to SFO.

What ORD terminal would I be arriving at? What terminal do I depart from and how do I get there? Thanks

You will arrive in 3 and depart 1. They are connected by walkways through terminal 2 inside security if you don't have any checked bags. Flying to ORD is an awfully out-of-the-way route to get from PHX to SFO.
