I'll be connecting in ORD, arriving on UA into T1 connecting with SAS out of T5, and reverse on return. I have 1hr 10min connection on the outbound and 1hr 45 min. connection on return. Do you think this is enough time on both?

It's possible but leaves no room for error both ways.

I am travelling with united from las vegas to frankfurt thru ORD with only 1 hr 15 min connecting time. Is it possible. Do I have to check my luggage. Do I have to go thru security and customs. I guess that I arrive and I leave from the same terminal 1.

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.. You have enough time.

Im in a bind booking a ticket on thursday and one of the options is ua5677 onto ua578 with a 58 minute layover from terminal 1 to terminal 2 and i was wondering if that is enough time.

Yes, that's plenty of time. There is a walkway connecting T1 and T2 inside security and all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I will be staying on the same airline but going from terminal 2 to terminal 1. UA3989-UA4460. Is 50 min enough time to get to the next flight and board in time? Assuming I can send luggage straight to my destination. Would I have to go back through security between terminals?

Yes, that is enough time. You do not have to go through security. There is a walkway inside security between T1 and T2.

I am flying from the uk to Miami via Chicago oh are. I only have 1.5 hours until my next flight. Is it possible to pass customs collect luggage, recheck luggage and get from terminal 5 to terminal 3 to board in that short time

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

I am going on united from RSW - ORD on Christmas day. I have a 2hr 9min layover to switch frontier for my flight to Vegas. I have to recheck bags. Will that be enough time? Do I need to change to AA and alow 4hr instead of 2hr? Please let me know! Haven't booked yet.

With checked bags I would be much more comfortable with a 4 hour layover than 2.

  • MSP to ORD to DEL

Hi - I have a United flight from MSP to ORD which should be T1 and then a Air India international flight from ORD to DEL. Both have been ticketed separately. 1) Question is how do I move my checked luggage from T1 to T5? Dont think we are allowed to carry lugagge carts on the Airtrains ? 2) Also on my way back, I have a 2.5 hours layover between my arrival at ORD and then return flight to MSP. Will this be sufficient to do the immigration, customs & then move luggage from T5 to T1? 3) Can I check in my luggage at United travel desk on T5 if its not ticketed together with Air India flight?

You can't bring rental carts on the ATS but you can bring a personal foldable cart in your checked baggage. On the way back to MSP you will have to take your bags to the United counter in T1 to re-check it with United.

  • AA connection on seperate tickets

I am traveling through O'hare in December and my connecting flight to Columbus will be on a seperate ticket. Both flights will be operated by American, though. My flight will arrive from London at 2:55pm and I'm seated in business class so it shouldn't take too long to get off the plane. Is it safe to book with a 2h15 connection or should I opt for a 3h45 layover? Also, it would be great to know, if I can recheck my bags after customs in T5 or if I have to check them at the American Airlines desk in T3. Thank you.

If you show your reservation for your flight to Columbus to the AA agent in london they should be able to tag your bags through to Columbus, then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk in T5, otherwise you will have to take them with you to T3. I personally would book the 3 hr 45 min, but 2:15 is doable.

Thanks for the input, Zap! I found some news articles, that claim oneworld stopped checking bags through on two seperate bookings, though you never know how they handle it in practice. I'm going to book the 3h45 layover to play it safe.

That's only if it's on two different airlines. If both flights are on American it shouldn't be a problem.

  • ORD to CID

I am transiting through ORD terminal 5 from Dubai on EK and connecting with AA to Cider Rapids. Will 2hr be enough to connect through terminal 3. Thank You

On two separate reservations, no that is not enough time if you have checked bags as you won't be able to get your bags to the AA check-in desk in T3 before the bag check cutoff.

Thanks ZAP. As you mentioned earlier, without check in bag, 2 hours will be sufficient. Probably I will just take a hand carry

ZAP, I am not able to view your earlier reply. Just to reconfirm, if I do not have check in bag, would 2 hours sufficient? Apologize for repetitive question

I will check in my luggage from DXB all the way to CID and will drop it off at AA desk after Customs. Would 2 hours transiting sufficient? Sincerely appreciate your assistance

If everything is on the same reservation and your bags are tagged to CID, 2 hours would be barely enough time.

  • Is 2 1/2hrs long enough for transfer from Term 5 to Term 1

Arriving United from Shanghai UA0836 Term 5, dont know if I am pre cleared in Shanghai, most likely will have to clear Customs& Immigration at ORD. I have connect flight to Ottawa YOW Term 1 with United UA3732. Is the allowed 2 1/2hr time adequate with clearing Customs at Term5 transferring to Term 1 and doing Security at Term 1.

In Chicago you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the ATS Train to your departure terminal (either 1 or 2) and go through security and to your departure gate. You should have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I forgot to mentioned .. I will not have any bags to claim or check, I just have carryon. will my ORD-YOW boarding pass be issued in Shanghai or ORD

Both boarding passes should be issued in Shanghai. With no checked bags you can use OneStop immigration in Chicago.

What is One Stop Immigration .. would that be an entirely separate Immigration line to the one a individual would normally take or is it a line that I should take after normal Immigration ... and is it well documented/identified.

  • 30 minutes AA 3359 to AA 3483 Long enough?

I am traveling on a Thursday with a 30 minutes layover. Incoming flight AA 3359 to outgoing flight AA 3483. Is that long enough?

It's possible. It obviously doesn't leave any time to spare if the first flight is delayed.

Hi, Is an hour layover in ORD enough to make the connection from Toronto to Japan, with American Airlines? Thanks.

Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3.

I come in from Denver on LH7465 from Denver at terminal one and need to connect to LH431 to Frankfurt at terminal one. I have just 40 minutes. Is that doable? Do I need to go through security?

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. you just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. No security required. Note that your first flight is operated by United so check-in with United in Denver.

I am returning to Bangalore from Seattle connecting through ORD & London. Will be flying American for the SeaTac-ORD segment and BA for the ORD-LHR segment. Will land in ORD in T3 and depart from ORD in T5. I have two pieces of checked baggage. Everything is on one reservation. Upon arrival in Chicago, do I have to claim my checked baggage and drag it all the way to terminal 5 to have it re-screened and re-checked at the CX counter and also undergo security check? I will have 2 hours. Do I have enough time? Many thanks for your help

You don't have to do anything with your bags in ORD. Just take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security. You have enough time. No need to ask the same question twice.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I was very concerned for the Transfers at ORD. I was informed by others that there is usually a long queue for Security Clearance and also that at times one has to collect all checked in baggage and have it checked in once again at ORD because ORD will be point of Departure from USA. Thank you once again for quick response.
