  • Extremely short layover!

I am booked with AA and one in Chicago (from Phoenix) at 1615 and am supposed to fly to Rome at 1650. Of course I'm worried I won't make this as I have never been in the Chicago airport. AA insists this is reasonable transfer. Thoughts?!

Both flights will be on the H/K concourse of Terminal 3. You have just enough time if the flight from Phoenix is on-time.

I have a flight from Orlando to Chicago O'Hare and from there to Japan. Is one hour enough to catch my connection in Chicago to take the flight to japan

If both flights are on the same reservation then you should have enough time. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

An hour and half layover is all I have between a Turkish Airlines flight (arrive 6:50 pm and American Airlines (depart 8:20 pm). I know about having to go from the international terminal to domestic. I will only have a carry on bag. I will also have my Mobile Passport ap. Seems like the lines have been going much quicker with all the automation these days. Enough time?

It is just enough time if everything goes smoothly and you check in online for your American flight before leaving Turkey.

Yep, I had also thought of checking in on American. I will do that in the morning before I leave Tel Aviv for Istanbul. I will have my boarding pass on my phone so that should help. Thanks for the reply!

My sister is arriving with Lufthansa to O'Hare from Munich on Feb, 3rd; she has connecting flight from O'Hare to St. Louis. She's not American citizen and doesn't speak English so I'm trying to give her as much info as possible. Once she arrives to O'Hare is she going to have to collect her baggage and again check in on terminal 1? All flights are on the same reservation. Thank you!

She will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim her bags, go through US Customs, re-check her bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 or 2 and go through security. She should get off in Terminal 2 if her departure gate starts with E or F and Terminal 1 if it starts with B or C.

If I fly into ORD from SJU with a 54 minute layover to DCA, will I have enough time? It's one reservation with United.

Yes, that is enough time. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Chicago.

  • Connecting Turkish to American

We will be flying on Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to ORD and then on American to Phoenix. The flights are on separate tickets. The layover time in ORD is 2 and a half hours. Is that enough time to collect our checked bags, clear customs and recheck our bags?

It's barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thank you ZAP. We do both have Global Entry is that makes any difference.

That will help. Make sure your KTN is in your AA reservation so you can get Pre-check security in Terminal 3.

  • Terminal 1 to Terminal 5

I purchased separate tickets for a trip from Dayton to ORD then ORD to Amsterdam from United and KLM respectively (saving $400 doing it that way). Flight to Amsterdam will leave at 16:00 but I just got a notice from United that they've changed their schedule so the flight from Dayton arrives in ORD at 14:00 instead of the original 13:25. I believe this is going from Terminal 1 to 5. I will only have carry-on luggage with me and assume the online check-in will give me the boarding tickets I need. Do you think on average 2 hours is enough, or should I reschedule with United for a 10:00 morning arrival in ORD. Thanks!

Yes, 2 hours is enough time with no checked bags.

Hi, I'm looking at a flight from London Heathrow to Billing Montana, via Chicago Ohara, the connection time is only 1 hour and 30 minutes on the same reservation, do you think this is possible with clearing immigration and collecting luggage to clear customs, I have never been through this airport before, but am travelling alone, the date is 17th August. Thanks

It's just enough time if everything goes perfectly. The schedule will probably change before August.

ok, ta, both flights are with United, so I assume they know what they are doing, I've had some long delays at immigration where I normally enter the States at Minneapolis...thanks

MSP is one of the easiest places to enter the US. Chicago O'Hare is much larger, more crowded, and more complex.

I have a flight with Icelandair from TRD - REK - ORD. Then connecting to Dayton with American Airlines or Continental. Would 2 hours and 55 min be enough? Travelling with elderly woman as well.

Continental no longer exists. Do you mean United? That would be barely enough time. You will have to transfer your bags yourself to your second airline.

Do you have to transport your own luggage if you fly with american airlines as well!? How Much time do you need in between?

Yes, you do with American as well. 3 hours is just about what I'd recommend, so 2 hrs 55 is slightly less, but not impossible, just adds a little risk.

It says on the ORD page that: "travelers who are not checked all the way through to their final destination and who have a connecting flight with eirther United airlines or american airlines, can re-Check their luggage with an airline employee immiditely after clearing CBP processing area to avoid carrying their luggage to the domestic terminals"?

  • American to Aer Lingus in 100 min?
    Jan 24, 2017

Looking into an American Airlines flight that arrives at ORD 2:09pm and next flight departing Aer Lingus for Dublin at 3:50pm. Is that too short of a time to get from terminal 3 to 5?

That should be enough time if the first flight is domestic and on-time.

  • Have I enough time for connection

I am travelling from Dublin(pre clear immigration here) to Chicago then connecting to Orlando flight, all flights are on same ticket with United,I have 1 hour 35 minutes to make the connection,is this enough time

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thanks ZAP. Do you know what terminal I would arrive in from Dublin with United and what terminal I would depart for Orlando, again with United?

Can anyone tell me which terminal the Dublin United flight will arrive at and which terminal the connection to Orlando will leave from

You will arrive at terminal 5 and I think leave from terminal 1. There is a little train that will take you there. It is a very short ride

  • Connection between T2 and T1

I am arriving on united T2 F, and have and international flight out T1 C with 1 hour connection what is the quickest transfer route

The fastest way is to walk through the walkway from T2 to T1 concourse B and then through the tunnel to Concourse C. You have enough time if the first flight is on-time. it's all inside security.

Hi I'm flying from London uk to Chicargo O'hare with a connecting flight to Kalamazoo will 2 and a half hours between flights be enough time please?

If both flights are on the same reservation, yes, that is enough time.

Thank you, how will I know if they are on the same reservation please?

Did you buy all your flights at the same time? If so they are.

Thank you this is my first time. I'm so worried about it all I'm contemplating not even going, Iv never traveled alone

If you do miss your connection and they can't rebook you, you just have to take a taxi or the subway downtown and can take a train to Kalamazoo fairly inexpensively.

Oh great that's really helpful, made me feel a lot better

I'm flying United Airlines from Winnipeg, Canada to ORD and then taking a connecting ANA flight. I only have 1 hour and 5 minutes to connect. Will I have enough time?

ANA flight is bound for Japan.

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Winnipeg. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thank you very much!

I have a United flight from GSP-ORD-YVR with a 1 hr. connection time (flight leaves gsp at 7:00AM). is there enough time for the connection - I'm not sure if the terminals are different.

You will likely arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1, but they are connected inside security by a walkway. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.
