I have a flight from ORD to Abu Dhabi on Etihad Airways. I need to book a flight (probably on Delta) from MSP to ORD. How much time should I plan between the flights. I know I will have to pick up bags at baggage claim and change terminals to check in and re-check bags. Is 2.5 hours enough?

    2.5 Hours should be possible.

Once we check in our luggage from Pearson Airport (YYZ), will there be another luggage check in at the Chicago Airport (ORD) at Terminal 5? We have a connecting flight at this airport, so I just wanted to know if the luggage goes straight in, or we have to do another luggage check when we are catching the connecting flight?

What airlines are you flying and were your flights purchased on the same reservation or separate reservations? Where are you flying on your second flight? I can't really answer this question without this information.

We are flying from through Air Canada to ORD Airport and in Air India from Chicago to DEL (Dehli), and yes, the flights were purchased on the same reservation. Please let me know. Thanks.

All you have to do in Chicago is take the ATS train from T2 to T5, get your Air India boarding pass if you don't already have it, and go through security. You will preclear US immigration and customs in Toronto. You don't have to do anything with your bags in Chicago.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I am traveling from Houston to Dublin. I have a plane change in Chicago and I need to go from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5. Everything I have seen has different answers. Will I need to claim my baggage, recheck it, and go through security again? Is 95 minutes reasonable to be able to change terminals? Thanks.

If both tickets are on the same reservation you will not have to claim your bags in Chicago, however, you will have to take the ATS Train from T1 to T5 and go through security.

You have enough time if your flight from Houston is on-time.

Yes both are on the same reservation. That's great! Thanks!

I am coming from Abu-Dhabi to Chicago morning 9.30 am on August 16 by Etihad at Terminal 5 and my connecting flight to St. Louis is at 12.30 pm by United. Bookings are separate for Etihad and United. I am first time coming to Chicago. Is it enough time to get my Untied flight. Can i check my baggage in Terminal 5 before i proceed to terminal 1 ? What is best way to go to Terminal 1 from Terminal 5. Sorry lot of questions.

No, since you have separate bookings you will have to take your bags with you on the ATS Train to Terminal 1 and check them with United and pay a checked bag fee. You should have enough time.

Thanks for your response so how much time would be ok as I will try to rebook my flight . E.g. 5 hours

My current connection is 3 hours

Hi. I'm checking flights from OMA to YUL (operated by American Eagle), and they all go through ORD in 60-75 minutes. Is that enough?

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in ORD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both likely be in concourse G.

I'm flying with Finnair from Helsinki to Chicago (arrive at T5) and I will continue from Chicago to San Diego with American Airlines (depart T3). I am flying Jul 18th (Saturday). My flight from Helsinki arrives at 6:40pm and the second flight departs at 8:25 pm. Should I have enough time? Is it so that I first go through immigration, then collect bags, then go through customs and then check my bags again for the connection flight at T5? Then proceed to T3 using ATS? All my flights are on one ticket.

Yes, you should have enough time and yes, you have the procedure correct.

Sorry I was not clear in my earlier post . Want I want to know is 3 hours enough for me to get connecting flight from Chicago to St. Louis in United whereas as I coming from Abu Dhabi to Chicago via eitihad.

I am flying in from Denver and then going to Dublin on Aer Lingus. My flights are booked seperately so I will have to go through security and recheck my bag. How much time do I need? Also, how much time will I need on my return since I will also have to clear customs? Thanks!

I recommend 2-3 hours each way. You will not have to clear customs on your return because Dublin has US Immigration and Customs preclearance. Your arrival into Chicago will be like a domestic flight.

I did not know that about Dublin, Thank you very much!

We are flying Aer Lingus from Detroit to Dublin with a layover in Chicago. The DTW to Ohare flight is operated by United. We arrive in Ohare at 6:40pm in terminal 1 and our Aer Lingus flight leaves terminal 5 at 8:00pm. Is 80 minutes enough time? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. You will just have to take the ATS Train to Terminal 5 and go through security.

I'm booking a flight to Zurich Switzerland for late August coming from Indianapolis on United, arriving in terminal 1 at 5:40 pm and connecting with SwissAir in Terminal 5 at 6:15. Is 95 minutes enough for that connection?

5:40 to 6:15 is only 35 minutes. Did you mistype? Because 95 minutes is enough time. 35 minutes isn't.

My united airlines flight is scheduled to arrive at 8:15AM from MSP. Will I have enough time to claim my luggage and then checkin with ANA for my flight to Narita with departure time of 11AM.

If your tickets were bought on the same reservation then you don't have to claim your baggage or check in again. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which are both in Terminal 1. You have plenty of time.

Unfortunately, these are two separate tickets (UA and NH). That's why I have to claim my baggage and check-in at ORD.

Oh, then you still have plenty of time. You'll just have to go down to the lower level of Terminal 1, claim your bags, bring them back up to the ticketing level, re-check them with ANA, and then go through security.

Both flights are Lufthansa, but first flight is operated by United Airlines. Flight is on September 7 (Monday).

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 1.

If I arrive from DUB in terminal 3 and depart to Miami from the same terminal do I have to pass through security again? Can I take duty free liquor in my carry-on?

You will not have to go through security in Chicago. However, you may not be alllowed to bring liquor through security at Preclearance in Dublin.

I am flying on 7/10 from Erie PA to ORD. I have 50 mins. to make my connection from ORD to Denver - all United. Is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will likely arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1. There is a walkway inside security between Terminal 2 and Terminal 1. There is a chance you will arrive in Terminal 1, which makes your transfer even easier.

My American Airlines flight lands at Terminal 3 at 9:10 PM with a connecting flight to Helsinki on Finnair from Terminal 5 at 10:00 PM. What is the quickest way to get to Terminal 5 from Terminal 3 and can it be done in 50 minutes? This is one itinerary and I'm a US citizen.

You have to take the ATS Train and go through security in T5. That late at night it should be possible but depends on your AA flight arriving on-time.

Thank you for responding! I was able to take an earlier flight to avoid possibly missing my connection.
