We are traveling to Germany from Knoxville, TN through ORD. Will we have to go through security in ORD? Will we have to retrieve and re-check our luggage? Any assistance is appreciated!

What airlines are you flying? Are both tickets on the same reservation?

sorry, yes both flights are on the same ticket - we are flying United

Then you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, take the ATS Train to Terminal 2 and go through security and to your departure gate.

DO I HAVE TO GO THROUGH TSA AGAIN WITH NO CHECKED LUGGAGE GOING FROM TERMINAL 2 TO TERMINAL THREE?

No, there is a walkway connecting them inside security.

I have a 2 hour 41 minute layover in O'hare (New Orleans-O'hare-Stockholm-Helsinki.) Is this enough time to make the connection from terminal 1 to terminal 5 for an international flight?

That should be just enough time.

I am coming in from Kansas City(MCI) August 3rd to ORD and have a connecting flight from ORD to Madrid Spain(MAD) on American Airlines as well. My layover in ORD is 45 minutes before my international flight. Will that be enough time?

Yes, that is enough time if your flight from MCI is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    What airlines are you flying?

We are flying from STL on Aer Lingus gojet united express and then Aer Lingus. We arrive at ORD at terminal 2 and go to terminal 5. All bought on same ticket.

Yes you will have to go through security in T5. You should have just enough time.

I have a short connection time of 45 mins arrival from Savannah (United Express) and then on to Washington Dulles (United). Which terminals do I arrive and depart? Is it enough time?

You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Terminal 1. They are connected by a walkway inside security. You have enough time if your flight from Savannah is on-time.

Hi, I have a Memorial Day morning flight from FNT to ORD (United , Terminal 2) that I'm looking at using to connect to my Korean Air flight departing 2 hours later. With the current TSA delay issues, is this enough time to make this connection? Thanks

It will be very difficult - probably impossible with checked bags on two separate reservations.

    And without checked bags?

Maybe you'd barely have a chance then.

We are traveling from Omaha to Dublin/Edinburgh on June 7th with the international portion of the Aer Lingus flight departing from O'Hare. It looks as though we have 2 hrs and 50 minutes to get from one gate to the other. I think we are arriving at Terminal 3 and departing from Terminal 5. Will we have enough time and will we have to go through security again?

That should be just enough time if your flight from Omaha is on-time. You will have to go through security again.

  • MSP --> ORD --> PDG; Will I have enough Time?

Hi, I am travelling with separate tickets from Minneapolis (MSP) to Chicago (ORD) and will land in Terminal 1 via United Airlines @ 11:35AM, then I have to go to Terminal 5 for a flight @ 2:50PM on China Eastern Airlines. So that is 3 Hours and 15 Minutes, will that be enough time to transport through terminals and go through security?

That should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • 1 hour 35 minutes - enough time from transfer?

I'm travelling in a couple of months from Mexico CIty to Green Bay. I only have 1 hour 35 minutes for connecting the flights. Is that enough time?

I'm traveling with United Airlines (MEX-ORD-GRB)

If the security situation isn't resolved by then that will be very difficult if not impossible. However, it is technically a legal connection.

And if I have the Global Entry?

With global entry you might have a chance.

Hi I am flying in with United 4260, landing 07,55 pm (terminal 1) and leaving with SAS Flight 946 (terminal 5) at 09.05 pm. Do I have enough time?

That will be very very difficult

    Impossible, or very very difficult?

I won't say it's impossible. But security at ORD is a mess right now.

Changed to an earlier flight. Time from arrival gate through security: 1h 15m. United would not check my luggage through to final destination, which cost me 15-20 min. I would say doable, though no room for delays or airline personell with a no can do attitude.. Thanks fot the feedback, glad I changed my flight.

I have a flight arriving from South Korea on the Sunday evening before memorial day at around 7:20pm. I have a 1.5 hour layover before my next flight to a domestic location. Is it possible for my partner and I to clear customs and make the the final domestic flight on time?

It's possible but it's really cutting it close.
