Coming in on United from BTV and flying United to Vancouver. International? How do I get from one terminal to another

You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2 and depart from Terminal 1. You do not have to use Terminal 5, the "International Terminal". Terminal 1 and 2 are connected inside security by a walkway.

My flight arrives in terminal 3 and i have to get to terminal 5. Is 1 hr 40 min time between flights sufficient. Arrival - american eagle.

Yes, that should be enough time. What airline are you flying out of T5?

Thank you for the response. etihad. Do they have a shuttle bus inside secure area? or do i have to go through security again?

No, there is no shuttle bus for Etihad passengers. You will have to take the ATS train and go through security again.

Is 45 mins enough time to take a connecting flight to London from terminal 1 concourse B to concourse C?

I am flying United from Cincinnati to Chicago and from Chicago to London.

Yes, that should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time. Note that your Cincinnati flight may actually arrive in Terminal 2 concourse E or F, but all United gates at ORD are connected inside security.

I have 50 min connection time, flying from SFO to EWR through ORD, all flights are American Airlines, from ORD to EWR operated by REPUBLIC AIRLINES AS AMERICAN EAGLE. Since my flight to ORD arrives in 5:30 am, I udnerstand that ATS will be running only every 20 minutes. Is it better to just walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3? I will have a carry on only, no checked luggage.

You do not need to use the ATS train. Both of your flights will be in Terminal 3.

Hello, I have a 45min connection time, I'm arriving from Phoenix (though AA) and going to Paris (also through AA). Is it enough time? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. Both flights will be in Terminal 3 and all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. It doesn't leave much time for delays though.

Hi I have a flight from Houston to Toronto. But I have a two transfers on the way. One of them is ORD to New York. Both flights are in same terminal but my transit time is only 50 minutes. Will that be enough time?

Yes, 50 minutes should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

Thank you for the prompt response. I just have a follow-up question. If the first flight was late for any reason. Whom should I contact and will they arrange another flight to my final destination within the same day? Thank you.

You should be automatically rebooked. United also has a customer service center for customers who have missed connections or cancelled flights inside security in Concourse C.

Hi, I have 95 mins connection time, arriving T1 (united express) and leaving T5 (aerlingus), is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. Note that some United Express flights use T2 which will make your connection even easier. United should be able to check your bags through to Aer Lingus and issue your Aer Lingus boarding pass as long as you purchased your tickets together. You will have to take the ATS train from T1 or T2 to T5 and then go through security.

Arriving at ORD on a domestic United flight from Denver (I do not know what terminal) and connecting to a United codeshare on Air Canada Express Sky Regional (again I do not know terminal). Is 45 mins sufficient for me to connect? - and my checked bag? Will both flights be in the same terminal?

Your first flight will arrive in Terminal 1, either the B or C concourse. The second flight will leave from Terminal 2, in the first few gates of concourse E. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time but there's very little time for delays. There is a walkway between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 inside security. Just follow the signs.

Hi, I am flying into ORD from Knoxville and have 45 mins to get from the plane to make my international connection to London. Both flights are BA, will i be able to make it? Will i need to collect my luggage or clear customs again?

Your first flight will be operated by American and arrive into Terminal 3. If your second flight is truly operated by British Airways (note that BA and American codeshare and some "BA" ORD-LHR flights are operated by AA), then it will be very difficult. You will not have to do anything with your luggage or go through Immigration or customs (you don't do that when leaving the us). However, you will have to exit T3 and take the ATS train to T5 and go through security OR you will have to take the British Airways shuttle bus, which runs inside security but infrequently. Please double check your itinerary to see who is operating your flights.

Hi, I will be arriving at terminal 5 from Mexico and leaving from Terminal 1 2 hours later. Do you think I will have enough time for immigration and customers? are there shuttle between terminals? thanks

Yes, that should be enough time. The terminals are connected by the ATS Train.

  • 35 MINUTES BETWEEN DOMESTIC FLIGHTS WITH AA?
    Sep 1, 2014

Hi I am looking at a ticket to fly from NYC to John Wayne airport with a stop in Chicago. The time between flights is only 35 minutes...both are AA flights and the route is domestic. Is this enough time to make my second flight and would my bags make it??? or is this a bad idea?

Yes, it's possible but it doesn't leave much time for delays, which are very common when departing NYC airports.

I have family that leave tomorrow, Sept. 1 for Ireland, and also my husband is leaving around the same time for L.A. How do I drop him at Terminal One and come back around to drop the other part of my family at Terminal Five? The map isn't clear. Thank you!

Just drive along the departure level. You will come to T1 first, then follow the signs to T5. You will come to it after T3.

We arrive at Chicago airport at 2:10 PM at terminal 5 and have to be at terminal 3 to catch a flight to Seattle at 3:35 PM. Do we have enough time since we have to go through customs?

1 hr 15 minutes is probably not enough time. What airlines are you flying and where are you coming from?

We are coming from Spain on Iberia Airlines to Chicago and leaving on American Airlines to Seattle

Yes, that is below the International -> Domestic minimum connection time. You can try it (it is possible, especially if your Iberia flight is early) and if you miss it they'll rebook you. or you can call where you bought the ticket from and ask to be rebooked because it's an illegal itinerary.

Hi. I m travelling from yyz to ahm & i've connecting flight from yyz air canada via chicago to Ahm with air india & i want to got from terminal to terminal 5 & i have only 3 hours...Is it good enough time? & what about my luggage? It will be directly transferred from 1 flight to another flight or am i supposed to carry it from the connecting flight. Do i have enough time to transfer the luggage?

Yes, 3 hours should be plenty of time. If you purchased your tickets together your baggage will be tagged through to India in Toronto. If you purchased your tickets separately you will have to claim them in Terminal 2 upon arrival and take them to T5 to check with Air India. Regardless, 3 hours should be enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto.

That is terminal 2 to terminal 5..is that enough time?? How much time does it take normaly? N i have two fifferent flights in one itenary air canada and air india..did i have to go woth my bagges again?

If you have one itinerary your bags should be checked over to Air India in Toronto so you won't have to do anything with them in Chicago. To get from T2 to T5 via the ATS train shouldn't take more than 20-25 minutes. You will probably have to get your Air India boarding pass from the Air India check-in counter. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. Again, you should have plenty of time.

  • Connection 40 Minutes Enough Time If On Last Seat of Plane?
    Sep 2, 2014

We are traveling AA with a 40 minute connection to another AA flight. We'll be disembarking as of now from the next to last row of a smaller plane (EMBRAER EMB 175 Jet, row 22). What are the odds of making this connection so that our luggage follows us to the next connection? Would they be willing to change our seats on this basis? (Flight is a couple months away).

Oh, and the next connection is NOT AA, so I'm a big concerned about luggage keeping up with us if we miss this flight.

What airline is the second flight on?

Both AA flights for the first and second leg. Not familiar with Chicago airport. And not sure if either flight tends to run on time. Thanks.

If both flights are AA then they will both be in Terminal 3. If the flight is a few months away better seats should be available now - log into your itinerary on aa.com and check. If your flight is on-time this should be a very doable connection.

Thanks for the input. Our seats have already been assigned and confirmed by the airport (I requested them side by side.) I'm not very sure how to go about getting them changed. I went through onetravel.com. I'll have to dig into this, but I didn't see a place to request a change. Is calling the airline the best idea on this? I really appreciate the advices.

Ask the flight attendants to allow you to disembark before everyone else. They can make an announcement as soon as they pull up to the gate (or open the doors) that a passenger needs to catch a connecting flight and needs to get off first. Some people might grumble but in my experience most travelers try to help each other and will give you the courtesy of not stepping out into the aisle so that you can pass. Good luck

Thank you so much. I had a plane stay on the ground for an hour once checking a malfunctioning light so that th connecting flight left ten minutes early--last flight of the night. We had a three year old and a baby then, had to find car seats, cab driver got mad waiting for us, left the van doors open, gunned the motor, throwing our luggage out. My husband, a very kind and soft spoken man, had to yell at him to get him to stop, step back out to retrieve our belongings from the street. All the while, we were trapped in the van with a smoker, and my toddler was coughing his head off asking why people smoked in an already tense environment. It was awful. We were spent, nerves frayed, didn't sleep all night trying to go into another day of travel. I was scarred. We asked the stewardess to let the connecting flight know and she said, "I'm sorry, we cannot do that." Really? We ran, carrying diaper bags and stroller, only to watch that plane taxi away ten minutes early. Probably had a whopping ten people on the flight if it was anything like ours. Good to know stewardess will help in a pinch. I sure hope so! I got our seats moved to the middle section last night, so maybe that will help a bit. Never hurts to ask in a pinch, right?

The stewardess wasn't lying to you. They have no way to contact another flight, nor do they have any control when it leaves.

Good to know. One would have thought that connecting flights would somehow be "connected" with communications. LOL
