Hi I am flying in from Beijing and have a 2 hour 30 minute connection to STL. Will this be enough time to clear customs and security? I will not have any checked baggage. The flights are on separate tickets if that makes any difference. Thank you

With no checked bags that should be enough time. You can use the Onestop lane in T5. You can also check in for your flight to St. Louis before you leave China.

Hi am flying into Chicago T5 from London departing T3 to Orlando will a 1hr 35min transfer time, is this sufficient? do I need to reclaim my bags and how long does immigration take? flights booked through American Airlines. sorry so many questions, this is my first transatlantic flight with a connection.

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 3, go through security and to your departure gate. You barely have enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Hello we are arriving at ORD from ARN with SAS and flying with United to Las , we have 1h 55m , i am Star Alliance Gold if they have any fast tracks. Will we make it ?

This is possible but there's no room for any delays. Being Star Gold will not help you at immigration however, you will be able to use the priority security line when you get to Terminal 1.

  • CALGARY (YYC) To CHARLOTTE (CLT) Via CHICAGO (ORD) - 80 MINUTE CONNECT

Hello I am flying from CALGARY (YYC) - To - CHARLOTTE (CLT) - Via - CHICAGO (ORD) - with an 80 Minute Connection - both flights are with AIR CANADA and are going in and out of INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL 1 (Thursday 19:40 - 21:00) - will I have enough time to collect luggaage, get through Immigration and re-check luggage in the 80 Minutes if I have my boarding pass?

Actually both flights will be operated by United and Terminal 1 is not the International Terminal. you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have plenty of time.

Hi ZAP Thanks very much for your prompt response and knowledge. You really are great help and reassurance to everyone. Cheers CEME

Hi ZAP As I am only connecting through Canada (Calgary), I will not be leaving the airport, only clearing customs as you have said - but will I still need an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) for Canada?

Where are you coming from? What is your citizenship? What kind of travel document are you using to enter the US?

I have an Irish passport but i have been residing in Australia. I will be entering Canada from Japan. I already have an ESTA Waiver for the U.S. ?

  • Connection AUS - ORD - NRT in 65 minutes

I'll be flying back to Tokyo Narita from Austin, through ORD, with 65 minutes for the connection. Both tickets were purchased with a single transaction with ANA, though the AUS->ORD leg is operated by United, and the ORD->NRT leg is operated by ANA. Will my check luggage be checked through all the way to Tokyo, and, assuming that my first flight makes it on time, will I have enough time to make the connection?

Yes, your baggage will be checked all the way through. You have enough time. All you have to do in ORD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. ANA uses Terminal 1. You will arrive in Terminal 1 or 2. They are connected inside security by a walkway.

  • Short layover in ORD on Aer Lingus flight from MSP to Dublin
    Feb 22, 2016

My daughter is flying Aer Lingus from MSP to Dublin connecting in ORD this Friday 2/26. She departs MSP on United Express for Aer Lingus EI6336 arriving at ORD Terminal 1 at 5:59 pm. She departs ORD on Aer Lingus EI0124 from Terminal 5 at 7:25 pm. This is her first time to ORD and she is concerned about the short layover. Can she make her connection in time given that this is an extremely busy time of day? Also please describe what she has to do after deplaning at ORD to get to her international flight. Thank you.

Once she will arrive in ORD she just has to follow signs to Terminal 5 (a yellow box with a 5 in it). These will lead her to the ATS Train. She will take it to Terminal 5 and then go through security. She has enough time if her flight from MSP is on-time.

Scheduled into T5 at 3:20pm from UK and due to leave for SFO at 5:10pm all on AA. Is that enough time

That should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Connection Time Between Terminal 2 and 3
    Feb 22, 2016

I am arriving from Toronto at 10:57 and departing from terminal 3 at 12:35 for Narita, Japan. Is that enough time?

With no checked baggage that should be no problem. However, with checked baggage everything will have to go perfectly for you to claim your bags from Air Canada then re-check them with JAL or AA if you have two separate reservations.

there will be checked baggage, do you think there is a high possibility of not making the second flight?

Yes, if your tickets are on two separate reservations I think it will be difficult for you to make this with checked bags.

I've just been informed that the bags get passed on from one plane to another, does that make this more feasible? I booked the entire trip through an online booking agent (Airline Ticket Centre). Sorry for all the questions, this will be my first time flying alone so not sure what to expect. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Also, they are both on the same reservation as I booked from Toronto to Sydney as one package.

Yes, in that case then you can make this connection. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are all connected inside security.

Great to hear, thank you for all of your help!

I arrive from YYZ (Toronto) at Terminal 1 and have 50 minutes before my next flight departs to OKC from Terminal 2...will I have enough time to make my connection?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto and T1 and T2 are connected inside security by a walkway. All you have to do in ORD is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Hi, I am traveling from Amsterdam to SFO through ORD on Thu March 24. Both flights are with United and layover is 3:05. Will this be enough to clear Immigration and Customs, re-check baggage and make it to the next flight?

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Connecting time is 90 mins

We are travelling from India to Raleigh, USA thru Qatar Airways. We have connecting time 90 mins in ORD, we need to go from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 and also need to clear immigration. Do you think we can make it in 90 mins?

90 minutes is barely possible if everything goes perfectly. If you miss your connection AA does have one later flight to RDU at 6:35 PM.

Hi, We are flying from YUL with ANA 3759 operated by United to ORD and have only 1h 25 to catch ANA 113 to Narita. Is that enough time?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. You should have enough time. All you have to do in Chicago is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Note that the first flight will be operated by United Express or Air Canada Express.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
