  • Connecting from terminal 2 to terminal 1
    Jun 10, 2015
Hello- we will be flying into terminal 2 from SC (so prob a smaller plane and F) and have 39 min to make a connection to Hawaii in terminal 1 (gate TBD but prob end of B). Think we can make it ok? We have no mobility issues and have kids old enough to run lol. Thanks!

I should mention that we had an hour but the airline just shortened it for us (nice eh?).

Yes, that should still be enough time if your first flight is on-time. T1 and T2 are connected inside security by a walkway. You could also get lucky and arrive in T1 - a lot of United Express flights do.

Arriving on a United flight on a small jet (RJ 135). This flights past arrivals are mainly in terminal 2 at F gates. I have 60 minutes to make connection in terminal 1 (no gate assignment). The flight is also United headed to SJD. If the flight departs at furthest gate is this a reasonable amount of time. Is it faster to walk or take shuttle. The time is 7:00-8:00 am on a Saturday. Thanks in advance.

It's almost always fastest to walk. The shuttle runs very infrequently.

How much time do I need to transfer from UA1467 to UA1160 this Wednesday? First flight arrives at 3:35 PM.

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time.

All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 1.

  • Need help with terminal changes - Emirates - Delta
    Jun 8, 2015
My parents will be clearing customs on arrival from Dubai on Emirates airlines in terminal 5. Their connecting flight will be from Terminal 2 on Delta to MSP. They will have 2 pieces of big baggage each. Can they somehow check-in there baggage at terminal 5? Will there be a delta counter at terminal 5? I am trying to avoid their having to carry their baggage all the way to terminal 2. If they have to do that, can they take the baggage on trolleys in the between terminal trains? Are there other creative ideas to solve this problem? Please help!

There is no Delta counter in Terminal 5. They cannot take rented baggage carts on the trains. My suggestion is that they pack a foldable luggage cart in their checked baggage.

  • Transferring from Vancouver
    Jun 7, 2015
I am Flying from Vancouver to Orlando connecting in Chicago. Usually flights from Yvr to ord arrive in terminal 1 as a domestic flight. However, the flight I am booking from Yvr is an overnight flight at 11pm and arriving ord next day at 5:05am at terminal 5 instead of terminal 1. Do I need to go through customs again and security and claim and recheck my bags to connect to Mco at terminal 1.

Forgot to mention that the connecting flight from ord to Mco is at 6:25am. So only have 1hour 20 min to connect at ord from terminal 5 to terminal 1.

    All flights are with United

If you are correct that the redeye YVR-ORD flight can't go through preclearance in Vancouver as it leaves after preclearance closes, then yes, you will arrive in Terminal 5 and go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through Customs, and re-check your bags, then take the ATS Train to Terminal 1 and go through security. You should have enough time. Immigration should not be crowded as your flight and a flight from Brazil are the only international arrivals that early in the morning. Additionally security lines are very short prior to 6 AM.

Thanks! Can the checked bags not go through straight from Yvr to Mco as it is all United flights, and we only have to go through customs.

You will have to claim the bags to go through Customs. You can re-check at the re-check desk immediately afterwards in T5. Your bags will be tagged through to MCO but you will still have to claim them to go through customs.

  • Airport lounge
    Jun 5, 2015
I have a flight leaving out of terminal 1 domestic, can I use my airport lounge through priority pass in terminal 5 and then head back to terminal 1?

    It would not be practical.

  • 90 minuten transfertime enige?
    Jun 4, 2015
We arriive in Chicago from Amsterdam and within 90 minuten we fly to San Francisco. Is 90 minuten enough for us? We are with two adults and two kids (16 and 14).

Forgot to mention that both flights are with United Airlines

Yes, that should be barely enough time. You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, go up two levels to the ATS Train and take it to Terminal 1, then go through security and to your departure gate. If you miss your connection because your flight is late United has many flights from Chicago to San Francisco.

  • Layover Timing - Help!
    Jun 4, 2015
We will be arriving at O'Hare from Memphis on 6/20 at 11:14 on American Eagle Flight 3617 for a connecting flight to San Francisco on Flight 193 departing at 12:07. Have I messed up with these tickets? Do we have time to make the connecting flight? Signed Nervous in Mississippi :(

No, that's perfectly possible. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3.

    Thank you!

  • Ottawa to ORD to DEN
    Jun 4, 2015
Flying in July from Ottawa Canada, to ORD connecting to Denver. I have a 2.5hr connection time. Will that give me enough time and at this time of year are delays common? My connecting flight to Denver departs at 10:20am.

Forgot to mention I am flying with United Airlines

That should be plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Ottawa. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Delays can happen in Chicago in July if there are storms, but if there's no storms things generally run smoothly.

  • 40 mins connection terminal 3
    Jun 16, 2015
I have a 40 minutes connection in ohare and will be traveling with 3 a 4 year old. Flying out of atl to ohare then ohare to nrt both through American Airlines. Will I'll have enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in Terminal 3. However, it leaves very little time to spare if your flight from Atlanta is delayed.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Crossing my finger flight from atl will be on time. It's both with American Airlines.

  • Dublin to OKC
    Jun 2, 2015
I have flown AA before (last yr) and arrived at T3 and then departed out of T3 but still had to pick up my bags after going through Ohare Customs and then had to go back out through security is this still the procedure and if so will 1:40 be enough time

Dublin flights pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Dublin. If both tickets were purchased on the same reservation you should not have to claim your bags in O'Hare.

  • enough time
    Jun 2, 2015
Ive never been in ORD airport my flight arrives at 5:38 in T3 Gate L6a and I need to go to Gate K9 in T3 and that flights leaves at 6:15 do I have enough time to get there before they close the door?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Walking between those gates should take less than 10 minutes.

    Jun 2, 2015
Hello - We arrive in ORD from MKE at 18:30. Our flight to DUB departs at 20:00. Is 90 minutes enough time to get from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5 and get through security in Terminal 5? Our tickets were bought together, so this 90 minutes is a layover. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Enough time for connection
    Jun 1, 2015
I am arriving on British Airways (operated by American Airlines) at 20:00 hrs on Thu June 18. My Connecting flight, British Airways (operated by American Airlines) to St Louis is at 22:00 hours. This is all on one ticket. Is 2 hours enough time to get the luggage, get through customs, recheck the luggage, go through security, etc.

    This is at Chicago O'Hare

Yes, that should be enough time. Note that after you re-check your luggage you will have to take the ATS Train from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 where you will go through security and to your gate.

I will be connecting in O'Hare from Munich in Oct. I arrive at 3:10 PM and depart for Denver at 5:30. Is that enough time for customs and reboarding? That's assuming flights are on time.

Yes, that should be enough time.
