is 44 minutes enough time for transfer at ORD?

Yes. It is if your first flight is on-time.

Arriving ord AA4306 departing AA187 to PEK. How do I get from a to b?

Both flights will be in Terminal 3 and in fact both will be on the H/K concourse. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

This is the first time I will be flying internationally. I leave YEG-ORD-Bradley intl. but I'm freaking out I have no idea where to go after I get of the plane. Do I go get my checked luggage then to immigration n customs or immigration bags then customs an then recheck bags!?!. It a bit late but help plz and also terminal 5 sound like far away fro me I only have 57mim

You will pre-clear US Immigration in Edmonton. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You do not have to go to or from Terminal 5. You have enough time.

Ok I guess I was misinformed before because many told me I would have to to all the custom stuff In ORD. Well thanx a lot ey!

I will be flying from Savannah, GA to ORD. I then have a 1 hr layover before catching a flight to Moline, IL. It will be myself and my three kids. We will have carry on luggage. Will this layover time be enough? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. If both flights are on United Express they will likely both be in Terminal 2. However, even if one is in Terminal 1, all United and United Express gates at ORD are connected inside security.

I am booked on American from Hartford to ORD for the first leg of a trip to Montrose, CO. The second leg is on United. Will I have to claim my baggage and re-check it when I get to ORD?

If you bought your tickets together your bags should be transferred to United and you'll just have to walk from T3 where you arrive to T1 or T2 where you will depart. If you purchased two separate tickets you will have to claim your bags in T3 and take them to T1 to check with United.

I have 1 hour and 39 minutes to connect from my in coming flight (AA) from BDL to my outgoing flight (AA) to CDG on Jan 6. Will that be enough time?

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will both be in Terminal 3.

I am flying in from Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific, arriving in ORD at 19:35. Planning to book a connecting flight to Omaha via American Airlines at 20:50. Is this enough time? Thanks!

NO! That is not enough time. Especially considering you are buying separate tickets. You will probably have to spend the night in Chicago and fly to Omaha the next morning.

I will stay in Hilton Hotel for a night and in the morning i have to carry my 2 big baggages and 1 carry on from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 and i know that there is no cart allowed on Airport train so i am wondering is there any way for me to carry all my baggage to Terminal 1 to check in

The Hilton is connected by tunnels to Terminal 1 and 2. It is not in Terminal 2. If you can, get a cart and bring it through the tunnels to T1.

I'm flying american from Mexico to ohare and then need to transfer to a domestic American flight 2 hours later. Will I need to completely recheck my luggage and check in at an American check in desk after going through customs?

You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk immediately after, still in T5. Then you will take the ATS train to T3 and go through security and to your departure gate.

  • US Customs for international transit

Hello, I am flying from Montreal to Tokyo, with a transit at ORD, this Monday Dec 14. I am French and have a visa. I need to hand it back to the US customs before Dec 17. Will I be able to do it at the airport? I mean, are there US customs during an international transit flight? Thank you, Marie

More information on my problem: Both flights are in terminal 3, so from what I understand there is no security check nor customs between my flights. I just need to walk between the two gates, which means that I will leave the USA without handing back my visa which is a big problem. I think I will go to the border tomorrow to hand back my visa to be sure. I was just wondering if I can hand back my visa at the US customs in Montreal airport, but they are not going to like it as I should hand back the visa while I leave the USA, not when I enter it. Anyway if you have some advice on this, it would be much appreciated! Marie

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto, you will see the US Immigration officers there. The US does not have exit customs, so I don't know why or where you would think you would "hand it back" upon exiting.

Well the thing is usually when I go back to Canada after a trip to the US, they ask me to hand back my visa at the Canada/US border. Or if I plan on going back to the US before the end of my visa I can keep it but I need to hand it back before the expiration date. This on expires on the 17th and if I keep it, and then try to go back to the US later, they will see that I didn't hand it back and that I could have stayed longer than what my visa said (it happened already once and I had problems at the border, I think that if I do it twice they will ban me from entering the US) I think that it is a very silly rule but it is written on my visa and I already had problems once... So I think I will do a round trip to the border just to be sure... Thanks for your reply anyway, I don't think this problem happened to anyone around here ahah

  • HKG - ORD - IAD with United Airlines

Hello, need guidance! I'll be traveling from SIN to IAD with a layover at HKG and ORD. Will the bags be checked in all the way through until final destination at IAD? I bought my tickets at one purchase from SIN - IAD. Do I need to go through custom again at both layover locations? I only have 1.5 hrs at both layover locations. Would I have enough time? Any ideas how is the terminal transfer is like at both locations? shuttle or walking? Thanks, appreciate the help!

Your bags will be tagged through to IAD but you will have to claim them in Chicago to go through US Customs. You can then immediately re-check them at the transfer desk. You do not have to claim your bags or go through Immigration at Hong Kong. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will be the same gate or adjacent to each other.

    Thank you so much

Hello, need help. Am arriving from HKG to ORD at Terminal 5 (I believe), to catch a domestic flight to IAD. Do I need claim my luggage after going through custom and recheck it again for the domestic flight? I bought my tickets at one purchase, shouldn't the luggage be checked in all the way through? and how do I go from Terminal 5 to the Domestic Terminal, will there be a shuttle? I only have 1 hour 30 mins for the layover, will this be enough time? THANK YOU! appreciate the help

You will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk immediately after customs, then take the ATS train to Terminal 1 where you will go through security and to your departure gate. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Layover

I am flying from YYZ on Air Canada to Iowa. My layover is 35 mins in Chicago. Then I fly out again with Air Canada to Iowa. Do I have to go through customs or security again before getting on my flight to Iowa? And if I do, is that enough time to get to my gate?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Chicago is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. United will operate your flight to Iowa. You will arrive in Terminal 2 and depart from Terminal 1 or 2. 1 and 2 are connected inside security by a walkway.

    Thank you so much! :)
