  • Moving the baggage to be checked between Terminals
    Nov 7, 2013
I am arriving at terminal 1 by United from Los Angeles. After collecting my checked baggage, I have to move it to T5 to board flight by Air India. As the tickets are purchased separately the checked baggage has to be taken from T1 to T5.on my own. I wish to know about the facilities available to move checked baggage between terminals ?

You'll have to carry it - you can't take carts on the ATS and there is no porter service to move the bags between terminals. If you have so much baggage you can't carry it yourself you should either not pack so much baggage or pack a foldable luggage cart in your baggage.

  • Assistance for seniors

Does the airport have electric carts to shuttle seniors between gates? Is there any other assistance that senior travelers could get, having in mind that they have short time for the transfer?

    Most likely they have - contact tel. 773-686-3700 - or e-mail aviation@flychicago.com

  • Bag transfer help for single parent with baby
    Aug 25, 2013
Hello, I am flying from Stockholm to San Diego and will transfer in Chicago. Is there a service that will help transfer by bags though customs? I'm not sure how I will handle my luggage and manage an infant.

On arrival at ORD in Terminal 5, Concourse M and will proceed to passport check, pick up your bags and go through customs clearance & re-check in your bags. In that area are free baggage trolleys - do not hesitate to ask for assistance be it the airport volunteers with the sign 'May I Help You', any airport or airline personnel or the passengers. Your connecting terminal / concourse / gate depends on your airline. After baggage re-check-in, proceed up one level to catch the ATS train to your connecting terminal. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ord then click on 'Terminal Map' under 'QUICK LINKS', and scroll down to the detailed text.

You cannot take the baggage trolleys on the ATS Train. If you let us know what airline you're flying to San Diego we can tell you what terminal your departing flight will depart from.

  • Terminal connections and baggage handling
    Aug 25, 2013
I am a student and I am traveling from Hong Kong to Chicago O'Hare airport on Aug 30th. The ticket shows its terminal 5 on landing. Then I will connect to flight to Boston within 2.5 hours in terminal 3. Can you tell me when I will do the custom check? Do I need to get my baggage for custom check? If so, when will I do that? How do I get to terminal 3? Where do I re-check-in my baggage? Thanks!

I'm assuming you're flying Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong and American to Boston and your tickets were bought on one reservation? If so, you will arrive in Terminal 5, go through US Immigration, then claim your baggage, then go through customs, then you can re-check your baggage right afterwards. You'll then go upstairs to the ATS train and take it one stop from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 and go back through security.

Thanks. Just to clarify that I re-check my baggage in terminal 5. Am I correct? And how could I know where to re-check? Is it the same baggage claim area I first pick up my baggage after landing?

It's just outside customs in Terminal 5.

  • Help for disabled
    Aug 7, 2013
My parents are arriving to O'Hare with Scandinavian (SAS SK943), then to transfer to United (UA3649) to Syracuse. They will be needing assistance for whole transfer due their disability. Who can I contact? Is it correct, that they need to collect their baggage, and check it in again, under all circumstances? They got about 2 hours to go thru checks, and to make to the another terminal Thank you in advance

They need to contact SAS and request wheelchair service. Yes, you have to claim your baggage in immigration and then re-check it in Terminal 5 after clearing customs. They should have enough time.

Arriving vom Germany at ORD 2.55 pm. Connecting Flight to LAS is at 5 pm. Will this be enough time? And what is to do after landing?

  • Minor traveling alone
    Jul 31, 2013
My niece is 16 and is flying alone to LAS. Will her guardian be able to pass the security checkpoint with her to help her find her gate?

Probably if she goes to the check-in counter and requests a gate pass. However, a 16 year old should have no trouble finding her gate.

  • International flight with dogs
    Jul 28, 2013
I will be flying by myself from Chicago to Brussels with 4 dogs (PCS). 1 in cabin and 3 with the pet safe program. I will be driving a rental car to the airport. Does United offer curbside check in? How much time should I plan on for rental car return? How much time should I plan on for checking in my dogs? I have never flown internationally and I have never flown with dogs. Any information will be greatly approciated.

Yes, United does have curbside check-in but there's a specific counter inside you have to go with the dogs inside Terminal 1. I would get to the airport at least 2.5 hours before your flight due to the whole thing with the dogs.

  • Assisting International Traveler
    Jul 26, 2013
I need to know if there a paid service to assist an international traveler arriving at O HARE INTERNATIONAL, TERMINAL 5 on 28 JUL 15:55 and changing from T5 to T3 to check in with AA to DIA at 20:45 ( Traveller speak only Arabic)

I'm not aware of any such service but it's a very easy connection and he has plenty of time. After he clears immigration, he will claim his bags and go through customs. If his bags were checked through to his final destination he can then drop them back off at international re-check in T5. If not he has to take his bags to American in T3 using the ATS train. Here he might have some trouble since the check-in kiosks will not be in Arabic and he will have to pay a checked bag fee using a credit card. However, if he speaks a little English (or french, or spanish) he should be OK. The good news is that he has nearly 5 hours. Perhaps he can find someone on the plane that speaks English that is also transferring to American that he can follow along with.

  • Terminal 2 to terminal 1
    Jul 24, 2013
Will I need to use airport transportation to get from Terminal 2 gate F12D to Terminal 1 gate B17?

No, you can easily walk between those gates within security in about 10-15 minutes.

You arrive at ORD's T2, Concourse F, lower level; head for the Departures Level (in secured area) and follow signs to (walkway) T1 (usually used as United Express transfer), which has gates B1-22.

  • Changing from T5 to T3
    Jul 16, 2013
Hello - travelling from LHR to DFW via ORD, arriving on AA91 to ORD and then leaving on AA 2359 to DFW. Have 90 minutes to transfer from T5 to T3. Will I make it? I heard for BA/AA share code flights there is another way than through customs, with a bus? Or do I need to go through customs?

You will have to go through immigration in T5, claim your bags in immigration, then re-check them after you clear customs. You then go upstairs and take the ATS train from T5 to T3 (one stop). It's a tight connection but possible. However, if you do miss your connection, AA has hourly flights between ORD and DFW, however, since it appears that 2359 is at 9:40 PM, there is only one later flight to DFW. The good news about coming in that late is that immigration shouldn't be very crowded.
