50 mins is not adequate as international arrivals at U.S. need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. United uses Terminals 1,, 2 & 5 - you will arrive at Terminal 5 & after re-check-in of bags to take the train to either T1 Or T2.

All International flights at ORD arrive in Terminal 5. The gate can vary from day to day as all gates in T5 are common use gates.

Your daughter's arrival at, & departure from, ORD depend on which airlines she will take. Note that Dublin Airport has U.S. customs clearance, saving her time on arrival at ORD. If your tickets were bought on the same reservation, then US Airways will check your bags through to United. Then you can just walk from T2 to T1 through the secure side of the airport without having to go back through security.

You'll have to check the flight status with your airline. Most of the weather is supposed to have moved out by then though.

No, it is quite safe. Aircraft have equipment on their wings to prevent ice from accumulating on them. Also, the speed that aircraft move at doesn't give water much of a chance to sit and freeze.

It's pretty easy - you just go down to the sort term parking garage and then follow the signs. They're all connected.

As international arrivals need to go through customs clearance (& flight maybe late) your best bet is to (a) use the free Cell Phone Lot located at Economy Parking Lot F. (Exit I-190 at North Mannheim Road and follow the signs to Economy Parking F/Cell Phone Lot). Stay with your car until your party has arrived, collected luggage and calls you to be picked up at the curb; or (b) Park in short-term Lot D in front of Terminal 5.

At O'Hare Airport subway trains from CTA 'L' Blue Line depart underground of Terminal 5, and Metra North Central's commuter trains stop at the O'Hare Transfer station, which connects to the Airport Transit System by a shuttle bus. (b) the CTA Orange Line links directly into Chicago's Loop with connections to all other lines in the loop. I suggest you go to the information /transportation counter near the baggage claim area for more information.

Sadec, please stop giving bad advice. The CTA stop is not under terminal 5. It is under the parking garage between terminals 1, 2, and 3. If you arrive at Terminals 1, 2, or 3, you can easily walk to the CTA stop. The best station to get off at if you want to see downtown is Clark/Lake. The best station to get off at to see a more interesting neighborhood of bars and restaurants is Damen.

At ORD Airport, United uses Terminal 1 for all domestic flights and international departures - the terminal has Concouse B with gates B1-22 and Concourse C with gates C1-32 - simply walk over to your connecting concourse by following signs. (on your return, you will arrive in the International Terminal 5, where you need to go through customs clearance process.)

That is a very tight connection, but at least both of your flights will be in the same terminal. If you miss your connection you'll spend the night in Chicago and be booked on the flight to Brazil the next day.

Airlines change schedules for various reasons including aircraft and crew availability. 49 Minutes should still be enough to make your transfer. Things tend to run really well at ORD that early in the morning.
