  • Connections
    Jun 10, 2013
Hello! I am flying from LAX on flight UA1217 to Chicago, O'Hare and connecting to Norfolk on flight UA3609. My layover is 55 minutes and I am hoping this is enough time. Does anyone know if it will be?

If your first flight is on-time it should be enough time. Your first flight will arrive in Terminal 1 and your second flight might depart from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, but the two are connected beyond security.

  • Baggage transfer
    Jul 8, 2013
we arrive from London on United Airlines with an hour wait before heading to Vegas, does my luggage get transferred automatically and is an hour enough times to change planes

50 mins is not adequate as international arrivals at U.S. need to go through passport check, retrieve checked bags, go through customs clearance and - if transferring to another flight - re-check-in bag; then proceed up one level to the Airport Transit System (ATS) station and take the ATS train, which runs every few minutes, to your connecting terminal, where you need to go through security check before proceeding to your connecting gate. United uses Terminals 1,, 2 & 5 - you will arrive at Terminal 5 & after re-check-in of bags to take the train to either T1 Or T2.

a follow up question, is there signs that say "passport check", or "custom clearance" within T5? is "passport check and custome clearance" separate steps or the same step? i understand your post, but i don't know where to go for your steps within T5. your help will be appreciated.

  • Air Berlin arrivals
    Apr 22, 2013
where does air berlin come in today #7420

Your AirBerlin flight arrives at ORD, but has at present 'Gate not assigned". Open http://www.flychicago.com/OHare/EN/Hoe/default.aspx. At 'Find Your Flight' add your flight number.

All International flights at ORD arrive in Terminal 5. The gate can vary from day to day as all gates in T5 are common use gates.

  • Landing from Dublin
    Apr 15, 2013
My daughters flight arrives at 1:45 pm from Dublin. Will she have enough time to make a 2:53 fight?

Your daughter's arrival at, & departure from, ORD depend on which airlines she will take. Note that Dublin Airport has U.S. customs clearance, saving her time on arrival at ORD. The ATS train runs between ORD's 4 terminals, but in their unsecured areas - meaning she has to go through security check before proceeding to connecting gate. One hour transfer time is tight. I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ord then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.

  • connecting flight
    Apr 11, 2013
Does anyone know if I take a flight on U.S.Airlways arriving on Terminal 2 Concourse E in Chicago(ORD) will I have to pick up my luggage and walk to United at Terminal 1, check in my luggage and go through security check to get to my connecting flight?

If your tickets were bought on the same reservation, then US Airways will check your bags through to United. Then you can just walk from T2 to T1 through the secure side of the airport without having to go back through security.

  • i have a flight
    Mar 5, 2013

You'll have to check the flight status with your airline. Most of the weather is supposed to have moved out by then though.

  • Landing during an ice storm
    Jan 27, 2013
Is it dangerous for a plane to land in freezing ice and rain?

No, it is quite safe. Aircraft have equipment on their wings to prevent ice from accumulating on them. Also, the speed that aircraft move at doesn't give water much of a chance to sit and freeze.

  • Short term parking
    Jan 24, 2013
I would like to know about getting to T3, on short term parking, where, how, etc.

It's pretty easy - you just go down to the sort term parking garage and then follow the signs. They're all connected.

  • picking up friends at Terminal 5
    Dec 30, 2012
Can you drive up to pickup guests at T-5 arrivals like the non international terminals?

As international arrivals need to go through customs clearance (& flight maybe late) your best bet is to (a) use the free Cell Phone Lot located at Economy Parking Lot F. (Exit I-190 at North Mannheim Road and follow the signs to Economy Parking F/Cell Phone Lot). Stay with your car until your party has arrived, collected luggage and calls you to be picked up at the curb; or (b) Park in short-term Lot D in front of Terminal 5.

  • What to do for 8 hours
    Dec 16, 2012
I have an 8 hour stay in ORD Chicago on Jan 02 while waiitng for my flight back to Manchester UK. Is the transport into Chicago Good and what is the best and quickest route so I can have a look around the City

At O'Hare Airport subway trains from CTA 'L' Blue Line depart underground of Terminal 5, and Metra North Central's commuter trains stop at the O'Hare Transfer station, which connects to the Airport Transit System by a shuttle bus. (b) the CTA Orange Line links directly into Chicago's Loop with connections to all other lines in the loop. I suggest you go to the information /transportation counter near the baggage claim area for more information.

Sadec, please stop giving bad advice. The CTA stop is not under terminal 5. It is under the parking garage between terminals 1, 2, and 3. If you arrive at Terminals 1, 2, or 3, you can easily walk to the CTA stop. The best station to get off at if you want to see downtown is Clark/Lake. The best station to get off at to see a more interesting neighborhood of bars and restaurants is Damen.

  • 37 min!
    Dec 8, 2012
Hello, I have a flight departing from Las Vegas that arrive at this airport at 8:48pm (Flight:UA152) and I have a connecting flight to BRAZIL that depart at 9:25pm (Flight: UA845) with the same company, on Jan. 3, 2013. Is there enough time? What happens if I miss the flight? Thank you

At ORD Airport, United uses Terminal 1 for all domestic flights and international departures - the terminal has Concouse B with gates B1-22 and Concourse C with gates C1-32 - simply walk over to your connecting concourse by following signs. (on your return, you will arrive in the International Terminal 5, where you need to go through customs clearance process.)

That is a very tight connection, but at least both of your flights will be in the same terminal. If you miss your connection you'll spend the night in Chicago and be booked on the flight to Brazil the next day.

  • weather concerns
    Nov 6, 2012
Would anyone have a comment on how concerned I should be flying in and out of O'Hare in mid-December? (15th to 22nd). I just have this niggling worry that we might not make it home (west coast of Canada) for Christmas......

Do you care to share any info on your routing (what airlines, where you're coming from or going to, etc.)? I can help you more if you do that. Weather in Chicago in December usually isn't too bad, winter doesn't usually hit hard until January, but you never know.
