I'm flying into DFW from Cabo San Lucas and only have 90 min to make connection. Not checking a bag so will that be enough time to go through customs and make it to gate f?

It's just enough time if everything goes smoothly. Also, DFW does not have a "Gate F". What airlines are you flying?

Yes, you have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You have enough time.

It is on the departures level. Which I'm pretty sure is upstairs.

I am flying to DFW from Abu Dhabi (AUH). They do Pre-Clearance (Immigration) in Abu Dhabi. I arrive in DFW Terminal D at 3;55 PM and flying to DSM (Des Moines) at 6:25 pm. I have 2 hrs and 30 mins in between flight. Do I have to claim my luggage in DFW and re-check again for my flight in DSM? Do I still have to go through immigation and custom? In my itinerary, it says my departure for DSM is at Terminal 0. Is there a Terminal 0? I checked the map of DFW airport, I couldn't find such Terminal 0. Where is Terminal 0?

If both tickets are on the same reservation you don't have to claim your bags at DFW. It says 0 because they don't know the terminal. It will likely depart from Terminal A or C.

Yes it is on the same reservation. Does it mean that I will claim my baggage at my final destination which is DSM? So how would I know which terminal should I depart from? And if I still need to claim my bag in DFW, I have to re-check my baggage, do I have to go through custom? Please help me. Your advice is highly appreciated. Thank you.

You will depart DFW from Terminal A or C. You do not have to claim your bag in DFW. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Abu Dhabi. All you have to do in DFW is take the Skylink train from Terminal D to Terminal A or C.

We will be coming from the Philippines with a dog in checked luggage with Korean Air and entering the US at DFW with an AA connection to Tampa. The dog has to be a carry on from DFW to Tampa because of breed restriction. What is the procedure for claiming the dog and going thru customs and should 3 hrs 35 min be enough for the connection?

The bag should be available for pickup in the International baggage claim, likely at the oversize baggage claim.

Thanks. I have to pay an additional fee to AA so the dog can fly as carry on. They said pay at the ticket counter. Do I have to exit security to get to the AA ticket counter from Term D (Korean Air) and then re-enter thru security?

You will be outside security already when you go through Customs.

1:20 layover between connection from Columbus to Beijing on AA. Is this enough time to get to my international flight?

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink train connects all terminals and gates inside security.

Arriving at DFW from GDL heading to Quito with one additional stop in MIA. Does this itinerary qualify as a transit passenger or will the extra stop in the US require collecting and re-checking luggage at DFW customs?

Yes, because your next stop is in the US, you will have to claim your bags, go through US Customs, and re-check them.

If I arrive at gate D20 which place do i go for security and to claim my luggage ? Also I do I have to recheck my checked luggage or they will be transferred to my other flight(I flight from GDL to DFW and DFW to YUL . If I have to recheck them. Do I have to do the security twice. Before going at the ticket counter and then to go back on the other the security side to take my plane. My last flight is at gate A18. Thanks for your help , I'm a little worry for tomorrow. I hope I'll have enough roomI arrive at 4:50pm and my departure is at 6:35pm. Can someone explain what I would have to do and where to go please my flight js tomorrow

You will arrive and be funneled to the Immigration area where you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk immediately after, then follow signs to departures, go through security and then take the SkyLink train to your departure terminal and gate.

I have an AA flight from Guadalajara to DFW arriving at 4:50( if there's no delay) , with a connecting AA flight from DFW to YUL . What is the minimum time needed at DFW to clears customs and immigration and check my luggage and make a international flight. Thanks! btw I'm Canadian. What would happen if I miss my flight because we didn't arrived on time ? Will I need to pay for anither ticket or AA will give me another no charge ? Thank you !

The minimum is 90 minutes. If you miss your connection because your first flight is late you will be rebooked to Montreal, probably through another AA hub such as Chicago or Philadelphia.

I will be arriving from NRT and then continuing to BOG. Will I transfer through the terminal? Or will I have to go through customs/immigration and then recollect my bags and then check them in?

There is no sterile international transfer in the US. You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You will not have to claim your bags if both flights are on American though.

  • Drone Flying
    Dec 12, 2015

I live in Lewisville and fly a drone sometimes right above my house. Current FAA regs state that I keep below 400 feet, which I always do. I am just outside of the 5 mile perimeter but jets fly right over my house continuously. It appears that all jets are above 500 ft. however, that still puts my flights within the FAA 500 ft. separation point at which a "near collision" could be declared. I would like to program my radio scanner (108-136Mhz) to listen to the specific approach frequency on which an incoming flight might report me to the tower so that I know when I'm being a nuisance, at which point I will immediately stop flying. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

If you are 5 miles from the airport the approaching aircraft are at closer to 2500 ft. AGL

My daughters flight from Sydney arrives at 1:00pm @ DFW. What is the average amount of time it takes to be processed through immigration and customs? I am trying to make arrangements for her pickup without having a lot of wait time for either of us. Thank you in advance!

I would guesstimate 45 minutes to an hour, so she'd be out at about 1:45-2.
