I am traveling from Chicago to DFW then on to Sydney. I arrive in Dallas 50 prior to the Sydney departure. Is this enough time? Do I need to go through security, customs or immigration?

Hello, This is my first time flying and I'm a little confused so any help will be appreciated. I'll be arriving at DFW at 4:05 PM from DCA. Then I need to get on my flight to SAL that departs at 4:55 PM. I'll have two bags checked in at DCA. Can someone please explain the process that I should follow once I land at DFW? Do I have enough time to make the transfer? Thank you for the help.

I should have mentioned that arrive at Gate A19 and depart at Gate D37.

Yes, that is enough time. Keep in mind that the schedule for your flights will likely change between now and January.

Hi, fly from San Fran to Tulsa on American. Arrive in Dallas at 18:00 then leave Dallas to Tulsa at 18:56. Assume bags checked through. Is this enough layover time?

Yes, that is enough time. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

  • LEAVING MEXICO TRANSITING MIAMI

Hi, I am leaving Mexico and arriving into Miami on AA2246 at 5:58pm. My onward travel is at 8:20pm on QR778 to Doha. Since I am leaving Mexico and transiting in Miami, Do I need to go through customs/immigration, claim baggage and recheck-in with Qatar Airways ? If I am leaving US, I know this is not required but since I am leaving Mexico and transiting through US, therefore the concern.

Why did you ask this on the DFW airport forum? However, yes, you will have to do all of that stuff in Miami.

My apologies for the wrong forum and thanks for the reply

Hi: We fly into DFW at 11:15 AM and have the next American Airlines connecting flight to Cancun at 12:05 PM. Is this enough time to catch the flight and for checked luggage to make it to Cancun? Please advise.

As long as your first flight is domestic, yes, that is enough time. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

Hi, I am holding US visa. I am arriving on Qatar Airways to DFW (Terminal D) at 03:55pm and my onward travel is at 06:45pm on American Airlines (Terminal D) to Mexico. Do I need to go through customs/immigration, claim baggage and recheck-in with American Airlines ? Since the arrival and departure is in the same terminal do I need to take a skylilnk train or is it walkable ?

You will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security. You will not have to use the skylink train since everything will be in Terminal D.

  • Layover time in Dallas to Calgary

Flying from Tampa to Calgary with layover at Dallas FW. They changed our flight and layover went from 3 hours to an hour 10 minutes. What is the probability that we will make connection coming from Tampa?

This is still a fairly easy connection. All you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. the Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

I fly from Vegas to Dallas at 7am on AA2082, then transfer on to AA2433 at 12.55 to Orlando, will we arrive and depart in same terminal, do we have to reclaim our bags? It doesn't seem we have much time, any comments would be appreciated thanks

No, you don't have to do anything with your bags. You have plenty of time.

I am planing to buy a British airway ticket (run by American airline) from London to New Orlean connecting in Dallas. Do I need to cliam the bags & re check the bags in at DFW? Is 2 hours enough to catch the flight to New Orlean? Thanks.

Yes, in DFW you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the skylink train to your departure terminal.

  • Flight From Peru, Transfer to Orlando
    Apr 21, 2016

I am travelling from Lima-Peru to Dallas (DFW), American Airlines, then onto Orlando, American Airlines,. I arrive in Dallas 7.30am, in Terminal D, then flight to Orlando is 9.05 am, I read the posts so I know that I have to go through US Immigration (1), claim my bags(2), go through US Customs(3), re-check my bags at the re-check desk (4), now I am wondering if all these four steps are inside the security area. Am I right? Then I go to my departure gate in Terminal A or C without passing security, because I always was inside security area, am I right? Thanks in advance

No, you are incorrect. When you clear customs and re-check your bag you will be outside security. You need to go back through security in Terminal D and then take the Skylink train to your departure terminal. You have barely enough time for your connection if everything goes perfectly.

Im flying Miami to Dallas then connecting to Qantas , flying to Sydney and R/T, any advice? I may check in my bag after all as I am a first time traveled, very worried about getting my connection and getting lost w customs ect. ! I have a 3 hour layover.

There is no US Customs when leaving the US, all you have to do in DFW on your way to Sydney is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal D. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security. You have enough time.

  • Two seperate domestic flights

Hi, I am flying from Austin to DFW via AA and arrive at 11:45 am. I then leave from DFW to Detroit on Delta at 1:10. These are two seperately bookings. I know I have to claim my luggage and then get to Terminal E. Once I have my luggage, how do I get from Terminal C to E to recheck my luggage with Delta?

You have to take a shuttle bus. This is a very difficult connection because the shuttle does not run frequently. If you can do this without checking a bag I highly recommend it as then you would not have to exit security.

Hi, I am travelling to the US next week. We arrivein Dallas from Sydney at 1:35pm and our next flight to Jacksonville departs at 3:10pm. I am travelling with 2 small children. Will this be sufficient time to make the connecting flight? Are you able to tell me which terminals I am likely to land in and depart from? Can you also please advise if there is anything we need to know/do to assist with a smooth transit? Thanks

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security, and to your departure gate in Terminal A or C via the skylink train. You have just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi! On July I will be in transit in Dallas. I will arrive at 3:25pm from Las Vegas and depart at 4:40pm (Both AA). I don't know from which terminals, so you think that even changing terminals would be enough time? (If the fligh from Las Vegas is on time of course) Thank you in advance and best regards!

Yes, that is enough time. The Skylink train connects all terminals and gates inside security. Your flight from Las Vegas will likely arrive in Terminal A or C.
