  • NRT to DFW to AGU

On 4/12 I am arriving from NRT at 4:40 pm on AA and connecting to go to AGU on US Air at 6:35 pm. Both are international flights in Terminal D. I don't think I can check into USAir flight in Japan. Should that be enough time? The AA flight is usually early. Thanks

Both flights will be on AA. Yes, assuming you purchased the tickets together you will be checked into both flights in Japan and your bags will be tagged through to AGU. You will not have to claim your bags because you are on an international to international connection. You will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security though. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

First time flyer - we have a connecting flight in DFW coming from MSP with final stop in CUN. Same plane, 50 minute stop. Do we get off the plane? My thought is with same plane, we won't be late for connecting flight? What's the protocol?

Are both flights on Sun Country? You will likely be asked to briefly deplane so that they can clean the aircraft. They will also check passports upon boarding for Cancun, which is unnecessary for the flight to Dallas.

Sun Country both legs. Appreciate the feedback

Hi I will fly from Nashville to London connection by Dallas (DFW) with 90 minutes time. Is it enough time to connect my next flight to London and also for security and customs???? Thanks in advance.....

That is enough time. You will not have to go through security or customs in DFW. All terminals at DFW are connected inside security by the SkyLink Train and there is no US Customs when leaving the US.

    (1) I have an Alaska Airlines flilght from SEA to DFW with a 1 hour layover time before catching an American Airline flight to BZE. Will that be enough time both to make connections and to get baggage transferred? (2) On return, I have an American Airline flight from BZE to DFW with a i hour 28 minute layover before catching an American Airline flight from DFW to SEA. Will that be enough time to go though customs in DFW, transfer luggage and make the connection to SEA? Thanks!

On the way there that should be enough time. You just have to take the AirTrain from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal D. On the return it will be very difficult. That is 2 minutes below the minimum time and many people are reporting that recently even 90 minutes has been insufficient for International to Domestic connections at DFW during peak periods.

  • LAS - DFW - CAN

Hi, we are travelling from Las Vegas to Cancun and have a change in Dallas Fort Worth. We arrive from Las Vegas at 12:47 and depart for cancun at 13:30. Will this be enough time? We have 43 minutes. Will we have to recollect our luggage and check it in again or will it be automatically done? Also - can I prebook my luggage with American airlines or do I pay at the airport when we check in? Many Thanks!

First of all CAN is Guangzhou, China. Cancun is CUN. Secondly, on your way to Cancun you do not have to do anything with your bags in Dallas, just take the Skylink train from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal D. You should barely have enough time if your first flight is on-time. You can pay for your bags at time of check in online.

  • PVR - DFW - MCI

American is selling a flight from PVR to MCI that only gives 1h 9min in DFW to connect. Are US TSA checks done in PVR to allow for such a short layover? If not, is this even realistic to clear US customs and Immigration? Hesitant to buy this kind of ticket.

No, that is a completely impossible connection. You need at least 90 minutes, preferably 2 hours, in DFW for an International to Domestic connection.

Hi! I'm transiting in DFW from Narita, Japan to LAX with American Airlines, am I going to collect my checked luggage? The connection time is 1 hour and a half.

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and take the SkyLink train to your departure terminal if your flight to LAX is not departing from D as well. 90 minutes is the minimum allowed time for that connection but many people lately have been reporting that it is not sufficient at DFW anymore. If you do miss your connection, AA has many flights from DFW to LAX that you can be rebooked on.

Hi, I have a flight from SLC to DFW, with a 54 min layover before I hop on a flight to AMS. Is that enough time? I change planes but not terminals.

You may have to change terminals. However, the SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security. You should have enough time.

  • Change of Planes 51 Mins

I am flying from LAX @1:15am Terminal 4 to my first stop being at DFW @6:08am Terminal 0 ( not sure why terminal 0 I looked it up and that terminal doesn't exist, any idea where I can get the correct terminal? ) US Airways 2400 I then have 51 minutes to change planes Depart DFW &6:59am Terminal 0 again. Really concerned about not being sure what terminal 0 is. Arriving @ 8:07am in San Antonio. Terminal B US Airways 2412. Is this enough time for the plane change ? Will I have to get my luggage as well. It's my first time flying alone. And ever having to switch planes. I just don't want to get lost nor miss my flight. Any help is appreciated in advance. Thank you

Your flight from LAX could arrive in Terminal A, C, or D. That's probably why your itinerary says "0", because it could be 3 different terminals. Note that all your flights will be operated by American Airlines, not US Airways, so make sure to go to the American Airlines counters in LAX and San Antonio to check your baggage. You will not have to claim your bags in Dallas either way. If you need to change terminals, the SkyLink Train in DFW connects all Terminals inside security. You have enough time.

    Thank you very much !

  • From Costa Rica-Customs, terminal chg. in DFW-Is 80 mins enough time? to RDU-American
    Mar 10, 2015

Hi, We are flying home on American Airlines from a mission trip from San Jose, Costa Rica arriving at DWF on a Saturday in July at 12:11 pm and have a terminal change to Raleigh/Durham at 1:35 pm. Will this be enough time for customs, bag check, and terminal change? Thank you!

No, that will be quite difficult. That is 10 minutes below the minimum connection time and many people are reporting that even the Minimum time of 90 minutes is no longer sufficient at DFW during peak periods.

    Thank you!

Hi, I have a flight from MSP to DFW (operated by American Airways) lay over - 80 mins Then Connect to a flight to Doha (Qatar Airways). I have a wheel chair request. will i be able to make it to the connecting flight with this 80 mins time.

Yes, assuming you purchased your tickets together they will just take you on the SkyTrain from your arrival Terminal to Terminal D. you do not have to go through security.

Thanks for your reply:-) Confirmed with the Qatar Airline. AA connecting to Qatar Air also lands in Terminal D.

  • ENOUGH TIME TO GET THROUGH CUSTOMS???
    Mar 9, 2015

I am flying from Los Cabos, Mexico to Dallas at 6:45 pm via US Airways and connecting via US Airways at 8:15 pm for my next flight. Will an hour and 30 minutes be enough time to go through customs and get to my next plane?

Note that your first and possibly both flights will be operated by American Airlines. 90 minutes is the minimum international to domestic connection time in DFW. Everything will have to go right for you to make your connection.

  • Arriving Qantas & transferring for Boston
    Mar 9, 2015

I'm arriving at DFW at 1.35 on Qantas and have a connecting flight to Boston with AA leaving at 3.30. Will I make this flight?

That should barely be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security then take the SkyLInk train to your departure gate if your gate to Boston is not in Terminal D.

  • 57 Minute Layover Enough Time

Hi, I will be travelling From Vancouver To Cancun via DFW on a Sunday arriving around noon.Is a 57 minute layover enough time to change planes (same carrier,AA), and will I have to re-claim my bags in Dallas?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver. You will not have to claim your bags in Dallas. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You should have enough time. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Hey all, I got a AA flight landing in DFW 3/11 at 8:15pm and an Qantas flight leaving DFW at 9:10pm. Everything I've read says 50 minutes minimum, I got 55 if all goes well. Just wondering if I should be worried. thanks

That should be plenty of time. The SkyLink train can get you between any two gates in under 10 minutes.
