  • LHR to LAS via. DFW
    Apr 16, 2015
Hi Guys, On April 30th I will be travelling on AA51 from LHR to DFW arriving at 1:40pm local time, I will then be transferring to AA2441 from DFW to LAS scheduled to depart at 3:20pm Local Time. I am a UK citizen (ESTA Approved) and will be travelling with hand baggage only (only a 3 day visit) can you give me a steer on if this should be enough time? Both flights were booked with AA direct as a Indirect flight to LAS from LHR. If there are any tips / tricks to ease the transfer that would be appreciated.

Yes, this should be plenty of time. Often there is a lane for passengers with no checked luggage, so that would save you some time. You will arrive in Terminal D where you will go through Immigration and Customs. You can then go back through security there and take the SkyLink train to your departure terminal (which will probably be A or C.

Hello, I am flying through DFW on my way from Houston to London. Both flights are on American and on the same reservation so I won't have to deal with baggage, but since one is domestic and the other international I'm worried about the connection. I only have 46 minutes. I assume that's enough to make the transfer from the domestic to the international American terminals since AA booked it, but if I'm delayed at all, will I be out of luck? What's the minimum amount of time needed to transfer betwen American domestic and international? Thanks!

It's possible to make that connection in 30 minutes, I believe that 45 is the minimum though. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security. It is possible if the first flight is on-time. If you miss your connection, American does have 3 daily flights from DFW to London If you are not already on the last one of the night, you will be rebooked on the next available one.

  • Connection Flight
    Apr 15, 2015
I have a flight from Dubai to Dallas on Emirates Airline and then to Tucson, Arizona on U.S. Airways. For the return flight, U.S. airways arrive at DFW 11 and the Emirates leaves DFW at 12:15. So, basically there is one hour between the two flights. Is the 1 hour enough and do I have to go through bag claim area, re-collect my bag and then go through security? I am not a U.S. citizen.

Did you buy your tickets together or separately? If together your bags will be tagged through to Dubai in Tucson and you just need to take the SkyLink train from your arrival gate to your departure gate in DFW. If separately, that is not enough time - in that case you need to get an earlier flight from Tucson.

I will be flying in from Cancun on 10/17 arriving at 4:20. We have checked bags, and both flights are on American. Flight to PIT leaves at 6:20. Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • From Madrid to San Francisco
    Apr 14, 2015
Hi, I'm flying from Madrid to San Francisco, with connexion in DFW. So I was wondering whether I'd have to pick up my luggage, get through customs, check in at DFW, etc. When I booked at AA, those flights have the same code (AA37, exactly). So, in case I would have to get though customs, how long would it take? Thank you

I forgot this: I am spanish, and I'm not getting a visa, I'll just get ESTA

Yes, in DFW you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. The same aircraft will likely not fly you MAD-DFW and DFW-SFO.

Minimum International to Domestic connection time is 90 minutes and I recommend 2 hours.

I will have a connection in DFW for only 40 mins (LAX to DFW to Cozumel, Mexico). I will be flying with American Airlines in February. Will the 40 min connection be enough time? not sure I have to go though customs/immigration. I am a US Citizen.

I will also have the same route back with only 1 hour and 30 minutes layover at DFW, will that also be enough time?

On your way to Mexico you do not have to go through Customs in Dallas. 40 minutes is enough time but doesn't leave much time to spare for delays. All Terminals are connected inside security by the SkyLink train. On your return you barely have enough time.

I fly in from JAC to DFW with a 90 min layover before going to PHL. I have to change airlines (from American to US airways), will this be enough time to change airlines?

And, will my checked luggage get transferred between airlines?

Yes, your bags will be transferred and yes, that should be plenty of time. All gates at DFW are connected inside security by the Skylink train.

  • Connection from Terminal B to D - immigration control
    Apr 9, 2015
hi! tomorrow i'm traveling from Corpus Christo(Texas) to Abu Dhabi through Dallas and i'm an european citizen. When i will land in Dallas i have to go through the security and immigration control or i can go straight to the Etihad gate at terminal by the skylink? i have also to collect my bag? The two flight are provided from two different company: AA and Etihad. Thanks for your help.

There is no US Exit Immigration. Did you purchase your tickets separately or together? If together you can just take the SkyLink train from Terminal B to Terminal D and board your Etihad flight. If separately you will have to claim your bags from AA, take the shuttle to Terminal D, check them with Etihad, and go through security.

  • Connect from Gate D to Gate B
    Apr 9, 2015
Hi I am flying from MKE to DFW and my flight has been delayed by 30 minutes. I have a connecting flight to ACT that leaves 32 minutes after I arrive in DFW. I have to go from terminal D to terminal B. Will I make it on time if I take the corridor connecting terminal D to terminal B?

I think you have a chance if you run.

  • Connecting flight?
    Apr 9, 2015
Hi! I'm a US citizen flying from SLC - DFW - AMS - CPT. My layover in DFW is 54 minutes. Is that going to be enough time to make the connection?

Assuming all your tickets were purchased on one reservation, yes, that should be enough time. If you are flying Delta/KLM you will have to take the SkyLink train from Terminal E where you will arrive to Terminal D where you will depart.

Yes, they were! Through Delta. Perfect! Thanks so much for all your help.

  • Tucson - Dallas - London
    Apr 8, 2015
I'm flying from Tucson to London with a connection in Dallas (going on American Airlines the whole way). My lay over is only 50 minutes. The incredibly rude call assistants at American Airline say that 50 minutes is plenty of time. At other airports, on international connections, I've had to re-check my luggage and go though security again. In Dallas, will I need to go through security again or re-check bags? Is 50 minutes a long enough connection? Thank you.

You don't go through US Customs or have to claim your bags at a connection point when leaving the United States. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates at DFW are connected inside security by the SkyLink train. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Worried about connecting flight
    Apr 7, 2015
I am flying from Cozumel, Mexico to Toronto, Ontario on a Sunday afternoon with a Connection in Dallas, Texas. My layover is only 55minutes. Is this enough time to claim my bags, recheck bags and proceed through security/customs?

Note: My flight to Cozumel, Mexico from Toronto, Ontario also has a layover in Dallas, Texas. This layover is 2hours. Will this be enough time?

On your way to Cozumel that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. On your way back however, 55 minutes is not enough time, as you will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security in Dallas and likely change terminals as well. The minimum time is 90 minutes, with 2 hours recommended for that connection.

Thank you! Not sure why they offer these connections if they know they cannot be met.

Also, would I need to claim my baggage in Dallas both ways?

You should not have to claim your baggage either way, even though most fellow passengers on your Cozumel-Dallas flight will, you should not have to since you are on an International to International connection. On your way to Cozumel, you only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Dallas since you will preclear US Immigration in Toronto.

I changed my flights. Tell me if this is more manageable. Flying from Toronto - Miami - Cozumel and Cozumel - Miami - Toronto. Flight times: Toronto to Miami 6:30am to 9:43am Miami to Cozumel 12:35pm to 1:2pm Return: Cozumel to Miami 3:18pm to 6:05pm Miami to Toronto 7:55pm to 11:15pm Will I need to claim baggage in Miami both ways? Are these times manageable?

Yes, that should be manageable. You will not have to claim your baggage in Miami either way on your way to Cozumel all you will have to do in Miami is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, on your return you will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security but should not have to claim your bags in Miami.

  • time between flights
    Apr 7, 2015
Hi thee. I am flying to Dallas from Australia with Qantas on the 3rd of july. We arrive at 1.35pm and i have booked a flight from Dallas to Austin with AA at 3.10pm. Will this give me enough time to get my baggage, get through customs and security?

That is barely above the minimum connection time and is a bit below what I recommend. It is possible, but it will be close. Luckily AA has a lot of flights from DFW to Austin that you can be rebooked on if you miss your connection.

  • Can I leave the airport between connecting flights?
    Apr 6, 2015
I have a good 4 hour lay over between flights, am I able to leave the airport between connecting flights?

If this question is about a US Airport - yes, you can leave the airport at any time.

the next flight is from dallas to SJD (san Jose de loas cabos) and its operated by American Airlines

That should barely be enough time. You will depart from Terminal D. All Terminals at DFW are connected inside security by the SkyLink train.
