I will be arriving at Dallas from Denver at 5:36 pm with AA and then my next flight is at 6:35 from Dallas to Champaign with AA again. This leaves me 59 minutes to connect. Is that enough time?

Yes that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. The Skylink train connects all terminals inside security.

Yes, that is possible. All you have to do is take the Skylink train from your arrival terminal to terminal D and board your flight.

  • Dubai - Mexico via DFW

Hi there, We hold French passports and will be flying from Dubai to Mexico, transiting via Dallas airport DFW. We arrive in Dallas at 9:45am terminal D. Our flight to Mexico departs from terminal A at 10:45am. This leaves us with 1 hour layover. We have only carry-ons. Will it be enough time? Do we have to go through security even if we are not staying in the US? Many thanks in advance Best regards

That is not enough time. You will go through US Immigration, Customs, and security. Also no flights to Mexico depart from Terminal A. American Eagle flights to Mexico depart from Terminal B, Spirit flights from Terminal E, and all other flights to Mexico depart from Terminal D.

Hi I arrive at Dallas airport from Sydney with my 1 year old at 1.35 pm and have a connecting flight from Dallas to Tampa at 3pm. Need to check is this enough time to go through security and re check in bags. I have one check in bag. Also at security is there a cart I could use to lug my bag and other things? Thanks

You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, are-check your bags and go through security. There are carts in the international baggage claim. This is not reasonably enough time to make this connection unless the flight from Sydney arrives significantly early.

Arriving at 616 gate C16. Need to get to gate A29 for 700 departure with boarding starting at 0620. Do I have enough time

It's not impossible but it obviously leaves no time to spare. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

  • Will I have enough time Calgary to Denver via DFW

Hi. I've just realised my travel agent has booked me from Calgary to Denver via DFW. I arrive at 19:20 from Calgary then depart DFW to Denver at 20:55. I have checked luggage and will obviously have to clear customs. Will I make my connecting flight? They're both on American Airlines, however I can't find anywhere what terminal or gate they arrive into/fly out of. Thank you

You will actually clear US immigration and Customs in Calgary before you leave. So all you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

Oh great, thank you so much. I wasn't aware that I would clear customs in Calgary (I'm travelling from New Zealand). Do you know if I will need to collect my bag or if it will go straight through to Denver? Thanks :)

You don't have to do anything with your bags in DFW.

I am arriving at DFW at C14 from Richmond and then traveling on to MCI one hour later from gate C22. Will I be able to exit my first plane and just walk to my next gate or will I need to ride the skylink?

That is a very easy walk.

Hi, We're travelling fr.o.m. London to Mexico City through Dallas, but according to the ticket we're also stoppning in Raleigh Durham (refueling, change plane,..?). My question is if this stop will make it necessary for is to take our our bags and clear customs (domesticerad) or if they will be checked the whole way to Mexico (international). We are changing terminal from A to D with approx 1 h to get to the new gate.. Thanks, Raz

In Raleigh/Durham you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. In Dallas all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security. You have enough time.

  • Arriving at DFW from S. Korea, and then connecting to Austin
    Jul 18, 2016

I'm traveling from S. Korea to DFW Terminal D, then have to transfer to Austin. Arriving at DFW is 16:20 and departure to Austin, TX is 17:45. 1 hour and 25 minutes seems tight. Do you think that I can make it?

Oh, only having one carry-on and one laptop backpack.

With no checked bags it's not impossible but will be very difficult. With checked bags you'd have pretty much no chance.

    Sounds clear! Thanks much!

  • Houston Hobby to Sydney Australia via Dallas International

We are flying from Houston Hobby Airport to Sydney via Dallas Int. 2 flights booked on 1 ticket with Qantas. 1st flight is serviced by American Airlines & we have been advised bags should transfer over automatically. We arrive into Terminal B & depart from Terminal D. What is the quickest way of moving between terminals & does this allow enough time to go through US customs & board next flight please?

The Skylink train connects all gates inside security and shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to get you between gates. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you. Forgot to mention that there is only a 55 minute lay over. How long before flight takes off does boarding finish please?

We are flying from Australia to LAX and the LAX - DFW - Cancun. The LAX, DFW, Cancun flights are all with American. We have a 51 minute transit at DFW. The airline says we will only need to change planes. But a) is the transit time ok and b) will we need to clear customs again to get on the flight to Cancun?

Yes, that is possible. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security. There is no US Customs when leaving the US.

  • Separate reservation

Arriving frm AUS by AA separate reservation to go to DXB by Emirates, do I need to check out the luggages frm AA when I get to DFW? Also with returning flights, how to check luggages to AA after Immigration & Customs?

Yes, on your way to Dubai you will have to claim your bags from AA in your arrival terminal, take them to Emirates in Terminal D using the shuttle bus, and re-check them and go through security. On the return you will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. You should be then able to re-check them at the AA check-in desk in Terminal D and go through security there and then take the Skylink to your departure gate if it is not in D.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I think a better solution to avoid these checking in/out luggages is to get somebody to drive from AUS to DFW and drop me off at terminal D. Do you agree? How much time do I need to allow time to go through the process checking in to the gate? My flight leaves at 12 noon.

Then plan on arriving at DFW by 10 AM.

  • International Terminal D > Domestic Terminal A Transfer 55min

We are traveling from Australia to DFW Terminal D, then have to transfer to Orlando Terminal A. Our flight has been changed to Orlando, which gives us less than 55min. We have to clear customs and collect bags, and go over to a different terminal with 2 adults and 2 kids? Is this a nightmare transfer, will we miss our flight? Its all on the same booking. Do we use the van or the train? How do we carry our bags over as well?

That is a completely impossible connection. You need to contact whomever you booked your tickets through and get it changed so that you have at least 2 hours to make your connection.

Thank you. Changed. We now have a 3 hours layover.

Flight from San Antonio arrives at DFW at 9pm and the flight to London departs at 10pm. Will that be enough time?

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security. All you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • From LHR to DFW and then DEN

We will arrive in DFW terminal D from LHR (American Airlines) at 7.10PM. Connecting flight to DEN at 20.46, terminal A (American Airlines). 1 hour and 36 min layover. Is it possible? How should we do it? Do we have to collect our baggage and recheck it? Is it possible to get help at the airport to make the transit as fast and smooth as possible?

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate via the Skylink train. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly. Hope that there is a later flight to Denver and that it has empty seats.

Thanks for a quick answer. OK, I was afraid so. Our booking was changed from 10.00PM to 8.46PM. We lost a lot of time. How much time can we save if we only bring carry-on baggage?

Carry-ons only will save you anywhere from 5-30 minutes depending on how backed up everything is and how long the bags take to come out.

OK. This could get interesting :) Thank you, again.
