I will be taking an AA flight from Seoul, Korea to Denver with a connection at DFW. The layover is 2 hours and 55 minutes. Is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Hi, I am travelling from Abq to london with a 55 min transit in Dallas, all on the same ticket with BA. Will I have to re-check my bag in Dallas?

No, you do not have to do anything with your bag in Dallas on your way to London. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The SkyLink train connects all gates inside security.

Hi! I'm flying from Santiago, Chile (SCL) - DFW- LAX tomorrow. My layover in DFW is 1 hr. 25 min long (I arrive at 5:34 a.m at DFW and my flight to LAX leaves at 7:05 am). Will I have enough time to get through immigration, customs, re check bags, etc?

That that very early hour, yes, that should be enough time. If you miss your connection American has almost hourly flights to LAX from DFW.

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone knows the procedures for internal flights transfer at dallas. I am flying from Manchester UK to Philadelphia then to Dallas where i have 45 minutes to transfer to a flight to mexico. Can this be done? I purchased the flights together and am flying with American Airlines on the journey from Philadelphia and the same for the flight to mexico. Can this be done?

Yes, it is possible, all you have to do in Dallas is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The SkyLink train connects all gates inside security.

I arrive in Dallas at 5:34 pm & plane is scheduled to leave to Chih at 6:40 pm. What do I need to know/do to ensure I can make my connecting flight? I think I need to collect my bags and recheck, right? The airline rescheduled it so I didn't have a choice.

On your way to Mexico you don't have to claim and re-check your bags or go through US Customs. All you have to do in Dallas is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The SkyLink train connects all gates at DFW inside security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

I got an AA flight Paris - Mexico city, with a connection at DFW, both flights at Terminal D. I only have 1 hour 37 minutes to take the other plane. Do you think it will be enough time? My trip is on January 2, ending New Year holidays.

Yes, that should be barely enough time. You will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and security, but you shouldn't have to claim and re-check your bags because you're on an international to international connection.

  • SJD (Cabo) to DFW with separate reservation for connection to STL

We land at DFW at 3:19pm and I originally booked the second leg at 7:00am (next day) in errror. So I booked a new DFW to STL flight departing at 6:20pm b/c it was cheaper than changing the existing reservation. What steps will we have to take going through customs, and getting our bags checked on the new flight to STL instead of the old flight (which I did not cancel)?

Since you did not cancel the 7 AM flight it's kind of a mess. You can show your confirmation for DFW-STL on the 6:20 PM flight to the agent in Cabo and maybe they can change your booking to tag your bag through to STL. So, after arriving in Terminal D at DFW you'll go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. If you were able to get your bags tagged through to STL you can re-check them right there at the re-check desk. Otherwise you'll have to rip the tags off and take the bags up to the departure level to check them at the AA check-in desk to STL (and pay a checked bag fee).

Thank you ZAP. The AA agent was going to charge $600/pax to change our reservation and wasn't able to help when I pointed out that I could just book the new DFW/STL leg for $200/pax. Hopefully the Cabo agent will be able to check them on to STL...if not, how long would you expect it to take for us to go back up to the AA check in desk? Greatly appreciate the help.

Your 3 hour connection time is probably enough if your flight from Cabo is on-time.

  • Cancun -> DFW -> London Heathrow

Hi, I've got a short time (1h 45m) to connect to a flight at DFW, My flight details are Cancun -> Dallas (BA5014 - American Airlines) landing in terminal D at 16:12 I need to connect to Dallas - > LHR (BA0192) which departs from terminal D at 18:00. I've read the forum posts but am confused whether (or not) I would need to reclaim my baggage for my connection? Is simple as just catching the SkyTrain from the arrival gate to departure gate (as both flights are in Terminal D) with baggage passed through automatically? Hope you can provide some reassuring advice!

DFW is one of the few airports in the country that allows passengers on international to international connections to not have to claim their baggage during their connection. The process you will follow is US Immigration, US Customs, then go up to the departure level and through security.

Thanks for quick reply. So in this case is 1h 45m sufficient time for the interchange provided there no other delays. Is there any quick passage through Immigration and Customs?

US and Canadian citizens and repeat ESTA users get a faster line. People entering on a visa or for the first time on ESTA have a slower line. There is also Global Entry which is a program for frequent international travelers who are US Citizens.

Curious, I'm flying to Seattle from Midland, TX. The flight I'm looking at has a very short connection time (40 mins). Do you believe that is enough time to make my next flight? Both flights are on American Airlines. Thanks for the help.

Yes, that is enough time if your first flight is on-time. All gates at DFW are connected inside security by the SkyLink train.

We are traveling from Cancun, MX to Las Vegas. We have a 1 hr 22 min layover in DFW. Is that enough time to clear customs, re-claim bags & get to our gate? Thanks!

    Flying U.S. Airways

It's possible, but the official minimum time is 90 minutes and I recommend 2 hours. Also note that both of your flights will be operated by American.

Hi. Looking at flights. Options are either a 1 hour 10 min layover or a 3 hour layover. Of course my preference would be the shorter one but am concerned because I will have to change terminals according to the booking website. DFW is not a tiny airport. Assuming the originating flight is on time, is the shorter layover reasonable? Just seems like the connection time has a small margin of error. All AA flights. Thank you

The shorter connection is doable. All gates at DFW are connected within security by the SkyLink train.

    Thank you.

  • Is Layover enough

Hi, I am Indian, and am travelling to SEA, with layover at DFW, for 1.5 hours(15:40 to 17:15 on a Saturday). I am travelling via Qatar and will be taking AA for SEA. I think, I will have to go through Immigration and customs at DFW. Will the layover time be enough?

Yes, that layover is enough time. Yes, in DFW you will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, go up to the departure level, go through security, and take the SkyLink train to your departure gate if it isn't in Terminal D.

hi, I am U.S. citizen. I will come back Omaha, NE from Cancun, Mexico with connections flight from Dallas Fort Worth (both flight with AA). I only have 1 hours and 25 minutes. Is it enough? Will I have anytime to spare?

that's 5 minutes shorter than the recommended connection time and about 20 minutes shorter than what I recommend. It's possible, but everything will have to work perfectly.

Thank you your quick responses. Should I call AA to change my flight?

You can try, maybe they can find you a better connection over another AA hub.
