  • 55 minute American Airlines connection

Hello, I am flying AA from San Jose to Toronto, connecting in Dallas Fort Worth. My layover is 55 minutes. I understand that AA operates from several terminals - is 55 minutes enough time to make my connection, even if I have to change terminals?

Yes, that should be enough time. The SkyLink train connects all terminals and gates inside security.

Also, this is assuming you are referring to San Jose, California, not San Jose, Costa Rica or San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.

Yes, San Jose CA - thank you for clarifying. I appreciate your help!

I'm flying in to DFW at 9:04pm 9/19 on American Airlines. My connecting flight is 9:50pm 9/19 with American Airlines operated by ENVOy Air-AS American Eagle. Is that enough time between flights to make my connection?

That's barely enough time if the first flight is on-time. The SkyLink train connects all gates at DFW inside security.

  • British Air Terminal D thru Customs / transfer to Terminal B American

My teenage daughter is flying in to DFW on British Airways on Saturday into Terminal D from London. She'll need to claim her bags and go through customs, then recheck her bags into terminal B for her American Eagle flight to Houston. Will she be able to immediately recheck her bags somewhere right after customs and just take the skylink over or will she need to totally leave security, go over to Terminal B, and then recheck her bags again before going back in through security again? We are getting all different information depending on who we speak to. Since she's flying alone and nervous I want to make sure she has correct information and knows what to do before she takes off. If anyone has experience with this please let me know. Thanks!

If both tickets were purchased on the same reservation her bags will be tagged through to Houston in London and she can drop her bags off immediately after going through US Customs, then go through security, and take the SkyLink to Terminal B. If she purchased two separate tickets, she should bring along her AA confirmation to the airport in London to show the BA agent at check-in to get her bags checked through to Houston so that she can drop them right after customs. Even if she isn't able to do that, she doesn't have to haul them to Terminal B, she can check them at the American Airlines counter in Terminal D (and pay a checked bag fee, so she'll need a credit card or debit card), and then go through security and take the skylink to Terminal B.

It was all one ticket. That's great news - thanks so much!

AA changed our flight times as they have done a lot of lately. SLC to DFW and then on to Cancun. From landing in Dallas to departure to Cancun they have only given us 47 minutes. I've read many posts on here, but not sure what terminals will be used. Is this enough time.

You will arrive in Terminal A, C, or D and depart from Terminal D. All gates are connected inside security by the skylisnk train. All you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time if your flight from SLC is on-time.

Thanks ZAP. Hopefully our first flight is on time.

  • Do I have enough time? TPA - DFW - LHR

I am travelling from Tampa to Dallas and then onto London Heathrow with AA, I have a connection time in Dallas of 1hour, is this enough time to get the connection flight or will I be running as fast as my legs will carry me with a disappointment at the end by missing the flight??

You have enough time if your flight from Tampa is on-time. The SkyLink train connects all gates at DFW inside security and all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you for your response. Do you know the minimum amount of time needed for this connection?

I would be very uncomfortable with less than 45 minutes.

  • SYD to DFW to MSY

Hi I am arriving at DFW from SYD on Qantas and then another flight to MSY on AA (separate booking) 2 hours later. Is this enough time to make the connection after completing immigration, customs and domestic check in? Thank you

With two separate bookings that will be difficult. I would check-in for your AA flight online before you leave Australia and then show your AA confirmation to the Qantas agent in Sydney. Hopefully they will tag your bags through to MSY. Then you can re-check your bags at the re-check desk right after customs and don't have to go to the AA check in counter, you will be able to go straight to security and to your departure gate. If you do miss your connection AA will have later flights to New Orleans that you can stand by for.

I am traveling from Montreal to Dallas and connecting to SFO with a 1 hour 15 minute layover. If i don't have checked bags, will this be enough time to get to my connecting flight? Will I have to go through customs and security at Dallas?

That is plenty of time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Dallas is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The SkyLink train connects all gates inside security.

I am travelling to Doha through American airlines from MSP to DFW and then taking Quatar airways to Doha. I have about 53 minutes between connecting flight. Question: What is the time needed to connect from AA terminal to Terminal D where Quatar takes off? As this is international flight, do I need to again get in security? Thanks for any answers.

No you do not need to exit security when you arrive. Just hop on skylink to terminal D. Travel times on skylink will be 5-10 minutes depending on whether you arrive at Terminal A or C (both AA terminals). You should be able to connect comfortably

  • Connecting Flight Timing & Procedure

Hi All, I'll be flying out of Vancouver -BC to Madrid in August. We have a connecting flight in DFW, with 1h 24m in between flights. Both legs of this journey (YVR-DFW, DFW - MAD) are with British Airlines, operated by American Airways. We arrive in Terminal D and also fly out of it. Questions: Will we need to deal with baggage in DFW, or can we expect it to be moved for us from one plane to the other? We go through customs in Vancouver for entrance to the US, should we expect any additional security check when transferring planes? If we do have to manually move our checked baggage, will we have to go through security again for it? Thanks

Since you cleared US customs in YVR, you shouldn't have to deal with bags or have to exit security at DFW. Simply walk to your gate for your madrid flight or take skylink if you arrive at a terminal other than D.

Our AA plane arrives at DFW at 11:00 am and our next flight leaves at 12 Noon to San Juan Puerto Rico. Is that enough time to make the connection?

If the first flight is domestic that is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

    Thanks. I appreciate your afvice

  • going through security in terminal D to get to terminal C

Hi I am traveling from Seoul (ICN) to DFW to Washington, DC (DCA) tomorrow. I am wondering about after immigration, when I put my bags in the drop-off location, and need to then get to my next flight, can i go back through security in terminal D to ride the skylink, since my flight isn't in terminal D it's in terminal C? Like do they care at security which gate you're at, or just anyone going out of any terminal can enter security in any terminal? Also, how long does customs usually take at about 4-5pm on Saturday? i saw onlient he statistics say 15-20 minutes. I am a US citizen, will I go through a faster lane than others? I am worried because I am seated in the back of the plane and might not get to the immigration line very quickly. I don't want to get stuck in customs for an hour. I have a flight that leaves 2 hours and 20 minutes after my plane is scheduled to land, but I believe these international long-hauls usually take a but less time than they say on the ticket.

Yes, you can go through security in D and take the SkyLink to C. That's sort of the purpose of the Skylink. Yes, US citizens have a faster line since they can use the automated kiosks. You have enough time.

  • enough connection time?

I will fly AA from SJO (Costa Rica) via DFW and AA to London LHR. Arrival in DFW is at 1:41 pm. Departure to LHR is at 3:35 pm. So the transit time in DFW is 1h 54 min. Will this be enough time to pick up luggage, do customs and immigartion formalities and to check in for the flight to LHR? Do I have to change terminals, and if so which ones? There is a second flight from AA to LHR that day at 10 pm. If I miss the flight at 3:35 pm. will AA allow me to change to the 10 pm. flight without buying an additional ticket? Any advice is appreciated.

Yes, that should be enough time. Both flights will be in Terminal D. you actually should not have to claim your baggage in DFW since you are on an International to International connection. Yes, if you miss your connection AA will put you on the later flight.
