  • Connection returning from international flight with aged parent

I'm traveling with my 86-year-old mother. We'll be returning from Launceston, Tasmania via Sydney, then connecting to Philadelphia. The only reasonable fare entails a connection of 1 hour and 50 minutes on Jan. 20, arriving at 1:35 pm on Qantas and leaving on American at 3:25 pm, issued on one ticket. Is this feasible? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time.

Thanks very much, and happy holidays!

  • Terminal Connections

I will get down at Dallas by 4:30pm. and i have an international connection to doha from terminal D at 6:10pm will this time be sufficient to change the temrinal and check in my baggage that is 1 hour and 40 minutes. ??

Are both of your tickets on the same reservation? If so you can just go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Dallas via the SkyLink train. You don't have to do anything with your baggage.

But, when i get sown at dallas from kansas city its american airlines and at dallas i would go through by qatar. I called AA about this they told me that i need to get back my baggage and again check in so will that be sufficient

If all your tickets are on the same reservation then your bags will get checked through to Doha in Kansas City - the agent on the phone is wrong (as they commonly are). However, you did not answer my question - are your tickets all on the same reservation or not?

    Yeah on the same reservation

Then all you have to do in Dallas on your way to Doha is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • What about the luggage in connections?

Hi everyone, I am flying in American Airlines from Madrid to Monterrey doing a connection in Dallas. Despite of flying with the same airline in both flights, do I need to pick up my luggage in dallas and re-do the checkin? I have read in some forums that its very common to do so, the airline doesnt do it for you. You have to manage and deal in the connection with your luggage ... is that true? And in that case, i have a 2 hours connection, can I ask for some special fast-chekin or skipping the aduana queue? Thank you so much for your help !!!

Dallas has a program where passengers on International to International connections on American don't have to claim and re-check your bags. You will still have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You should have enough time.

Thank you very much ZAP! Best wishes

  • WILL I BE ABLE TO MAKE

I am landing in Terminal D at 09.00 Hrs from Dubai and would need to complete my Arrival Immigration and Customs procedure. My next connecting flight is Delta Airlines from Terminal E, at 12.00 Hrs. My International and Domestic Tickets are seperate. So I need to collect my luggage, clear customs, catch the shuttle train to Terminal E, collect my Boarding Pass from Delta Counter, and proceed to the terminal. Will 3 hours in overall is sufficient on a Saturday arrival?

You will actually have to take a bus to Terminal E. The train runs inside security, which you won't be able to access. 3 hours should be enough time though.

ZAP, it sounds like you are familiar with DFW, can you provide any information on the international arrival process such as passport control times, collecting baggage, clearing customs and rechecking bags to connecting flights? thanks I am disable, usually go through IAD but they now require me to get my bags upon entry, clear customs and then go to main terminal and recheck in. I am considering going through DFW and hope the process is less complicated and less walking

DFW is larger but well laid out. The process is the same as what you are used to at IAD except all the terminals are separate (rather than IAD which only has one terminal). The process will not be more simple at DFW than IAD.

  • Is my layover long enough?
    Dec 18, 2015

I'm flying from SJO to DFW to DEN. My layover in Dallas is 1 hr 50 min. Is that enough time to make my connecting flight? I've never returned from an international flight before (going to SJO was my first out-of-US flight ever) and never been to DFW, so I'm rather terrified. I didn't book this itinerary originally– it was changed by American Airlines. When I originally booked it, I had a 3+ hour layover. However, they completely changed my itinerary to where I leave later from SJO and leave earlier from DFW, making my connection really tight. Thanks!

It should be enough time. In DFW you will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and take the SkyLink train to your departure gate if it is not in Terminal D.

I will be travelling from Queretaro to Dallas and then on to London on 31st December. I have 2 hours 40 mins transfer time. Will this be enough as I presume that it will be busy on NY's Eve?

Yes, that should be enough time. New Years Eve isn't a particularly busy travel day, especially the afternoon/evening when it sounds like you will be traveling.

  • Is this enough time for luggage to make connecting flight

I am traveling from RDU and connecting through DFW. If I arrive at 8:10 am and my connecting flight leaves for Albuquerque at 9 am is that enough time for my luggage to make it onto the connecting airplane? Thank you!

Yes, that should be enough time if the first flight is on-time.

  • International to Domestic
    Dec 14, 2015

Hello, Flying from London Heathrow via British airways to DFW, then via American Airlines to Fresno. What is the estimated time needed to get on to the domestic flight please? Do I need to claim my luggage and go through security again? Thanks, Leo

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk if they are checked through to FAT, then go through security and go to your departure gate on the SkyLink Train. If all tickets are on the same reservation, then 90 minutes is the bare minimum, with 2 hours recommended. If two separate reservations you will have to take your bags to the AA check in desk and 2.5 hours is recommended.

Hi, Arriving from London with BA flight to Terminal D at 14.35 to catch a flight to Guatemala with AA at 17.05. Will I have to go through customs, security, claim baggage and then recheck baggage and go back through customs and security? Is 2 hour 30 mins enough for this?

You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security but you should not have to claim your bags since you are on an International to International connection through DFW. You should have enough time.

I will be arriving at 9:22 am from Chicago and I will need to get on a flight to Beijing at 10:35am. Both are AA flights. I was wondering if that's enough time to make the transfer?

Yes, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The skylink train connects all terminals inside security. You will depart from Terminal D.

I have a flight AA387 from GDL arriving at DFW at 16:50 at Terminal D. My connecting flight to LHR is at 18:40 from the same terminal. Is that enough time to connect? Do I need to go through the Customs and Immigration, reclaim the baggage and re-checkin? How long will this process take?

You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security but you do not have to claim your baggage since you are on an International to International connection through DFW. You should have enough time.

If the first flight is domestic that is enough time. The SkyLink train connects all terminals and gates inside security.
