  • Connection in DFW to board an international flight

Hi, I am flying from IAH to DFW to SYD. My connection in DFW is only 1 hr, 20 min. Since I will have already checked my bags and gone through security at IAH will I need to do that again at DFW?

No, all you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security. You have enough time.

Hi! I am traveling from Paris CDG to DFW tomorrow with a connecting flight to Jackson, MS. My flight from CDG lands at gate D30 at 3:05 pm, and I have to get to gate B1 for a flight leaving at 4:50 pm. Will I have to go through customs, retrieve and recheck my bags, and connect to my other flight in that amount of time? If so, is there enough time to realistically accomplish this?

Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You do not reasonably have enough time. There is another flight to Jackson at 6:30 and another at 10:00 (also JXN is Jackson, Michigan, Jackson, Mississippi is JAN).

Thanks for the response. I wasn't aware of the international to domestic turnover process until just now. Is there no way my bags will be sent straight through to Jackson since I purchased the tickets at he same time?

No, you have to claim your bags to go through US Customs.

Im kind of confused, I have a connection flight in Dallas, I arrive in Terminal B and next flight is in terminal D, am I suppose to take skylink or terminal link?

The name of the train at DFW is Skylink. The train in Houston used to be called Terminalink but is now called Skyway.

  • Connecting from Madrid to Ohio

My daughter is arriving at 3pm on an American flight from Madrid, terminal D. Her connecting flight is at 5:15 on Delta, terminal E. She will have to recheck her bags at the Delta ticket counter. Is there enough time to go through customs, and recheck her bags at another airline and then make the flight?

No, I don't think that's realistically enough time, especially considering how long the security lines at DFW have been recently and the fact that she will have to take an infrequently running shuttle bus from Terminal D to E to re-check her bags.

I am flying into DFW on American then connecting to an Alaskan Airlines flight to SEA will I have to go through security again before boarding Alaskan Airlines?

If your AA flight is domestic and both tickets are on the same reservation then no, you will not have to go through security. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

as you can see, I have a connection flight from DFW to LAW coming from FRA. Do I need to get my luggage in DFW and re-check ?

Yes, in DFW you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.

    thank you :-))

  • Connecting from International with Dog

We are connecting from a Korean Air flight in term D to one of the domestic AA flights with a dog. As I understand I will have to exit security to pay the carryon fee for the dog at an AA ticket counter then re-enter, etc. Should 3 hrs 35 min be enough to do that?

That should be barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. Security at DFW is a mess right now.

  • Connecting from DEN to MEX via DFW in 55 min.

Should I be able to make a connecting flight from a DEN to MEX flight with only a 55 minute layover? Is there a security check for that International flight? I assume not, since I went through security at DEN but one should never assume. Thanks!

No, just get off the plane from Denver, and do either of these two - If you're departing from the same terminal you arrived at, walk/run to your gate - If you have to change terminals, take the SkyLink train Hope this helps!

  • 90 min Transfer time enough

Is 90 min enough for transfer. Landing DFW @1335 flight QF 7 from Sydney, catching QF4493 to CMH @ 1505 hrs. Both flights one reservation through I fly, ESTA done. Please also advise regarding baggage claim and arrival/departure terminals and transfers between them

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, and go through security and take the skylink train to your departure gate. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Hi, I am travelling from London Heathrow to Dallas Fort Worth, then to Cancun. There is 2 hour 5 min time before the flight to Cancun, do I have to go through customs or is there a seperate flight connections terminal like in Europe? Will I need to get an ESTA if not?

Yes, you need ESTA. Yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. You have barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

  • Time to get through customs
    May 10, 2016

Is 1h35 enough time to get through customs and make a connecting domestic flight on a Monday? We are looking at an AA flight option that lands in DFW (from MBJ) at 5:05pm, the connecting flight leaves at 6:40pm. We are looking at first class (easier to do the red eye on the way there) and so should get off the MBJ flight a bit faster anyways. Thanks!

Flying first class I think you could make that. In coach I think it would be pretty difficult.

    No need to be rude

Hi! I have a flight coming in from Madrid with an hour and 40 min layover in DFW before the last leg of my flight. Will I have enough time to get through customs/passport control?

We are traveling from Columbus to DFW and then to Puerto Vallarta. We only have a 70 minute layover. Will that be enough time to get to our next gate?

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.
