Just to be certain. Do we need to collect baggage in DFW to make this connection or will it check through to YVR?

No, you will not have to claim your baggage in DFW. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security.

  • 1 hr 35 mins layover at DFW
    May 19, 2015
I got an itinerary PEK-DFW-YUL with 1hr 35 mins layover. They are all AA flights. Is it enough to clear immigration, collect the luggage, put it back, and pass the security check to catch up the 2nd flight?

That is barely enough time. Since you are International to International you actually shouldn't have to claim your luggage but confirm that with agents in Beijing and Dallas.

No chance, you need to clear your luggage and put it back for the 2nd flight. Just wondering how far away between the two gates, are they in the same terminal? It could be doable if they are close together, or w/o check-in luggage.

Called DFW since my parents will transfer in DFW. They said it's ok while taking skylink

  • Flying from LHR to DFW then to SHV on a separate reservartion
    May 12, 2015
Hi I am flying from LHR to DFW then onto SHV on a separate reservation will my bags go straight through or will i have to lift them and re check them I also will have to go through immigration in Dallas will i have enough time between flights I has 2hrs 10 min Thanks

If you show your AA confirmation for DFW-SHV to the agent in London, then they should be able to tag your bags through to SHV. You will still have to claim them in DFW to go through US Customs, but then if they are tagged through to SHV you can immediately after drop them at the re-check desk and proceed to security rather than having to go to the check in counters. You should have enough time if your flight is on-time and you can get your bags tagged through to SHV.

  • 2hrs 50mins in DFW to clear immigration and Security
    May 12, 2015
My aged parents are travelling from London to Austin via DFW. They arrive at Terminal D. They will have to collect their checked-in baggages, clear immigration and then re-checkin for the DFW-AUS flight . They have 2hrs and 50 mins between the two flights. Is that time enough? They will have mobility assistance.

That should be plenty of time. They won't actually have to re-check in for DFW-AUS. They will be issued both boarding passes in London, assuming their tickets were purchased on one reservation.

  • Luggage and immigration

I am Brazilian and my flight from Brazil by American Airlines arrives at the terminal "D" at 5:25 am. And At 9:05 am, I will take another flight to San Francisco by American Airlines at the terminal "A". After I go through Immigration and Customs in "Terminal D" with the bags. What do I do? As I will to have much time connection, I must pick up bags, leaving the area of security and make the new check-in with the bags in Terminal A?

After you go through customs you can re-check your bags at the transfer desk immediately after customs, then go through security and then take the SkyLink train to Terminal A. Also, be sure to check the monitors because your flight to San francisco could also leave from Terminal C or D.

The transfer desk is inside the area of security or out?

You will be outside security once you clear customs.

  • International connection in DFW
    May 7, 2015
Hi ZAP, I'm planning on travelling from London Heathrow to Guadalajara (Mexico) via DFW. Flights are with BA from London to DFW, and then AA (operated by US Airways) to Guadalajara. I'm a UK citizen with ESTA clearance, but will have checked baggage. The time in DFW between connections is 1 hour 55 mins on the way out, and 1 15 mins on the way back. Is this cutting it close?

The 1 hr 55 mins on the way there should be fine. 1 hr 15 mins is pretty risky. You won't have to claim your bags because you're on an international to international connection, but everything will have to go perfectly to make your connection on the return.

    Great, thanks very much!

Hi , I have 46 Minutes to connect International flight from DFW to LHR from terminal B to D. Is it possible to catch the flight . Do i need to go for security check again or Do i need to reschedule my flight

All you have to do in DFW is take the SkyLink Train from Terminal B to D. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Baggae and layover questions
    May 5, 2015
Hi, I am flying from PSP-DFW-CUN. My layover in DFW is 40 minutes. Do I have to collect by checked baggage at DFW then re-check it to go to CUN or do I just walk from terminal to terminal?

You do not have to collect your bags in Dallas on your way to cancun. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Terminal D.

  • 40mins layover
    May 1, 2015
hi all, I am a non US person having a 40mins layover time at DFW from VPS to MCO.. Booked on American Airlines / American Eagle. Do i need to collect my luggage and recheck in and go thru immigration or can i just walk to the gate en route to MCO? Let me know, thanks much.

VPS, DFW, and MCO are all located in the United States. You do not have to go through Immigration on trips within the United States. All you have to do in DFW is go from your arrival gate in Terminal B to your departure gate in Terminal A, C, or D. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security.

  • Flying Doha to Dallas to Austin - Customs Clearance Concern
    Apr 30, 2015
I am moving back from Saudi Arabia to Austin tonight (4/30). I fly Dammam to Doha to Dallas (Qatar Air) and then to Austin on American Airlines but the entire booking was done through Qatar Airlines. I only have 1 hour and 35 minutes in Dallas. Concerned as I have 6 large checked bags. Will I make my Austin connection with having to deal with Customs? Any tips are greatly appreciated! Thank you.

That should be barely enough time to make your connection to Austin.

Do I need to collect my bags, go through immigration and then recheck my bags before getting on my connecting flight? If so, I have 90 minutes in between flights. I

Yes, you need to do precisely that. You should barely have enough time if everything goes smoothly. If you miss your connection, thankfully American flies lots of flights from DFW to LGA that you can be rebooked on.

  • Transfer from terminal D to terminal B
    Apr 26, 2015
Flying into terminal D and my connecting flight is terminal B just 40 minutes later. How long will it take me to connect and what's the quickest way? Thanks!

Most arrivals in Terminal D are International - where are you coming from? If your arrival into Terminal D is domestic or precleared that is barely enough time. The SkyLink train is the fastest way. If your flight into Terminal D is international non-precleared then there is no way you can make that connection.

  • Process of transfer from international flight to domestic flight.
    Apr 26, 2015
I am British flying from UK on BA to San antonio via Dallas. I have 90 minutes to transfer. The domestic flight ( although BA Booked) transfers to AA from Dallas to San Antonio. I have never done a flight transfer before and unable to find info on the process despite emailing Dallas airport twice. Please can you advise me of the process of what I need to do when I arrive at Dallas. I am confused as to whether I have to collect my baggage or whether it is transferred automatically. Do I go through passport control and customs. Which do I do first. Thanks

On the way to San Antonio, when you arrive in Dallas Terminal D, you will go through US Immigration (passport control), claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate, which will likely be in another terminal. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Hey, I'm flying with American Airlines from YEG-DFW-SAL roundtrip. When I land in DFW, do I need to claim baggage or through any screenings?. I have a 5 hour overlay so I think time is good but I'm concerned with my return flight I as arrive in DFW from SAL 1:47 and depart at 3:20pm back to YEG. Do I have to go get my baggage and go through US Immigration and Customs?.

On your way to San Salvador you will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Edmonton. All you have to do in Dallas is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security. On your way back, yes, you will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and Security but should not have to claim your bags since you are on an international to international connection.

  • MSP - DFW - DXB
    Apr 24, 2015
Hello, My wife and will be flying DXB - DFW on Emirates and then a 2 hr layover before a our Delta flight to MSP. We have Global Entry and TSA PreCheck and no checked baggage. We should have plenty of time correct?

Yes, that should be enough time. Check in online before you leave dubai for your Delta flight and then you can go through security in Terminal D and take the Train to Terminal E. Otherwise you will have to take the shuttle bus to Terminal E which is much slower.
