  • Abu Dhabi - DFW

I have a flight from Abu Dhabi via DFW. Will I have enough time if my layover is one hour and 55 minutes? I am a greencard holder.

Yes, Abu Dhabi has us immigration preclear acne, so you will have plenty of time.

Thanks, what is immigration preclear acne?

Thanks for the info. Would I need to transfer my bags in Dallas or will they get routed automatically to my final destination?

Sorry, I meant Immigration preclearance. It means you will go through US Immigration and Customs in Abu Dhabi. If you purchased your tickets together you will not have to do anything with your bags in DFW.

  • Enough time?

I'm flying in on American Airlines and have a connection to SJD Los Cabos. The layover is one hour and 25 minutes. Is that enough time?

Assuming your first flight is domestic, that is plenty of time. You will take the Skylink train, which runs inside security, from your arrival terminal to terminal D where your flight to Cabo will depart.

I am flying from London Heathrow to Fort Meyers Florida with a connection of about 6hrs in Dallas. I am hoping to see a friend in that time that lives there. Will I need to collect luggage or will it go straight through with my connecting flight (BA and then AA)? How long before my connecting flight will I need to give to check back in?

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. You will then be outside security (and already checked in for your flight to Ft. Myers. Your friend can meet you at the exit of customs in Terminal D. You should head back to security about an hour before your flight. You can go through security in Terminal D and then take the SkyLink train to your departure terminal if it is not D.

I am flying in on Delta and flying our on American. 2 differnt tickets. Do I need to go out and back through security or can i just go to the American gate and get a boarding pass?

more info for above... DFW airport ... traveling within the US...no checked bags...

Better yet, print out your boarding passes on the internet at home or use the AA and Delta smartphone apps for mobile boarding passes. The Skylink train will connect your arrival and departure terminals inside security.

  • UK international connection throug to Aspen - Is 1hr 35mins enough?
    Dec 3, 2014
Hi I am flying into DFW from LHR on Boxing day arriving at 2.45pm. I guess I will need to go through boarder control before my connecting flight to Aspen at 4.20 pm. Is this enough time? I will need to travel from Terminal D to B. On the reverse trip, will I go through customs at Aspen? Thank you for any help you can give. KMC

That seems really short for you to get through immigration and then on to your next gate. You might be able to make it, but I've seem people spend an hour + in immigration. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Check with your airline or travel agent to confirm. Aspen won't have customs, so on the reverse trip you will go through customs when you get back to the UK.

You have enough time in DFW. On the reverse trip you will go through UK Immigration in LOndon, there is no US Passport control when leaving the US.

I flew into DFW from LHR in August. Queue for customs split into US and non-US. Missed my flight as I queued for at lest an hour. This was after an hour queue in immigration. There should be another queue for tigt connections.

  • DFW to CUN
    Nov 30, 2014
Please help. I plan a vacation for my family of 4 (2 adults, 12 yrs and 16 yrs old) in Jun of 2015 and my connection btw DFW to CUN is only 47 mins. Do we have enough time to transfer (6:13am-7:00am)? Thank you very much for all your help.

Your 'transfer' at DFW depends on whether you arrived at DFW from a domestic or an international flight. Therefore, I suggest that you open www.ifly.com/dfw, click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS & scroll down to the detailed text for procedures & transfers, etc. As you arrive a morning rush hour, 47 minutes would be too short if you are an international arrival. Also make sure that your passports for all 4 members are current.

  • Help me, please! :)
    Nov 29, 2014
Hello! :) I'm arriving at Dallas airport on Dec. 27 from MIAMI on american airlines (1437) and boarding to go to SAVANNAH in 2 hours and 25 minutes on ENVOY AIR AS AMERICAN EAGLE(3351) and I'll have to do the check in again (with american eagle) and dispatch my bags too. So, Which terminal will I disembark? Which terminal will I embark to go to Savannah? And about the check in, where can I do it? Are there places in the terminal or near to there? Thank you very very much!

You do not have to check in. All you have to do is walk from your arival gate to your departure gate. All terminals are connected inside security by the Skylink train. You won't know your terminals until the day of your flight. You have plenty of time.

Hi! I arrive at Dallas from Buenos Aires at 7.40am and my connection to San Francisco leaves at 8.40am on a Friday. I'm travelling with American Airlines. Will that be enough time?

No, that's totally not enough time! You need to change your reservation.

  • Do I need to collect my baggage?
    Nov 29, 2014
Hi, I am arriving at Dallas airport on Dec. 3 from South Korea on American Airlines (AA280) and boarding AA280 to go to Miami in 3 hours. Do I need to go through immigration and collect my baggage even though I am going to take off and board the same airplane again? Please let me know. Thank you so much.

This is an additional question to the above. What terminal do I arrive in? Do I need to go to the same gate to go to Miami? Thank you!

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate (which may not be in Terminal D, even though both flights have the same flight number).

Also, you have plenty of time.

Thank you so much for your reply.

  • Do I have enough time?
    Nov 26, 2014
Hi, i'm arriving to Dallas with American Airlines flight 996 from Buenos aires, Argentina scheduled at 7 Am, then I have a connection with AA too, flight 2293 to San Francisco scheduled at 9 AM, so I have 2 hours between both flights, is that enough? Thank you all.

Yes, 2 hours should be sufficient time for your connection.

Do i have to pick up my luggage and re check it? Do I have to go to another terminal?

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go up to the departure level, go through security, and then take the SkyLink train to your departure terminal if your flight to SFO is leaving from a terminal other than Terminal D.

  • Passing immigration in 1 h 20 min
    Nov 26, 2014
Hello, I am European and will fly back to San Diego from Germany via Dallas right after the holidays. I am looking at a cheap flight itinerary, but it only gives 1 h 20 min layover time and I will have to pass immigration. Do I have to pick up bags and recheck the too? Will I have enough time for everything? I have never been to that airport. Thanks!!

The airline is American airlines btw

Yes, you will have to claim yoyur baggage to go through US Immigration in Dallas, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk immediately after. 1 hr 20 minutes is 10 minutes below the minimum connection time. You can risk it, but I would personally look for something longer.

  • Dallas transfer question
    Nov 19, 2014
Hi all, UK Citizen travelling to Brazil, via Dallas Airport. Both connecting flights with AA and are 2 hours apart. I would be grateful if someone could answer the following questions: do I have enough time (this will be around xmas), do i need to check back in and check back out, and will be bags be transferred or do I have to pick them up. Thanks in advance!

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through us immigration then you should be able to proceed direct to customs as you are on an international to international itinerary. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate, also in terminal d.

Thanks Zap, very helpful :) so u think its enough time, and I dont need to collect bags...

    Nov 16, 2014
I'm travelling from San Antonio to Orlando via Dallas. Arriving in Dallas at 1815 and flying to Orlando at 1900. Is this enough time please? Both AA flights.

That depends on your transfer time needed. At DFW, American Airlines uses Terminals A, C & D, while American Eagle uses Terminals B & D with corresponding gates. Your ticket should indicate terminal (TA, TC, etc.) I suggest you open www.ifly.com/dfw, click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICKLINKS (top left) & scroll down to the detailed text for transfer options.

  • connection time to Lima
    Nov 11, 2014
I will travel from Seoul Korea to Peru by AA flights and have transferring in DFW. I only have 1hr and 30 mints to transfer. Will I have enough time ?

Yes, that should be enough time but just barely. You should not have to claim your bags when going through customs because you are on an International to International itinerary, so that will save some time. Both of your flights will be in Terminal D.

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You take the Skylink train which runs inside security. It should take 10-15 minutes to get between gates.
