Hello, I am flying from Washington DC to Sydney via DFW on a Qantas flight. The layover time is 95 minutes. Is this enough time and will my baggage be checked all the way through to Sydney?

Yes, your bags will be checked all the way to Sydney. in DFW all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

    Thank you ZAP

  • Is there a North Terminal

American Airlines shows flight 1607 from ATL arrives at North Terminal and flight 3426 to HDN departs from Terminal B. I can't find a "North" Terminal on any DFW map. Does such a terminal exist? What is approx. transit time between these two terminals for family with two young children

You have the airports mixed up. It departs from the North Terminal at ATL. It will arrive in Terminal A or C at DFW. The Skylink train connects all gates at DFW inside security in less than 15 minutes.

Hello, I am arriving on American Airlines from an international flight from Peru at 7:22 and I need to get on my next connecting domestic flight at 8:53. Do you think that is enough time?

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

Flying DFW from Sydney on a Qantas flight, then flying Qantas (operated by AA) to JAX. Which DFW terminal am I likely to be arriving on and which one am I likely to be using for the DFW to JAX flight? Thanks again

You will arrive in Terminal D and depart from Terminal A or C.

Hi, I am arriving in DFW at 3:12pm on an international flight from Sydney, Australia (Qantas). Departing for domestic flight to Jacksonville, Florida 5:32pm (also Qantas but operated by AA). Should this layover time be sufficient to make it through customs, recheck bags and board the flight? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Enough time to get through customs?

We are flying in from Mexico to DFW. We have 1 hr and 50 mins to catch our next flight. Is this enough time to get our checked bags, go through customs, check our bags back in, go back though security and change terminals?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I will be flying from Costa Rica with a connecting flight to Louisville. Is an hour and a half layover enough to get through customs at DFW?

That's barely enough time if everything goes perfectly.

I'm traveling from Las Vegas to Cancun via DFW - the layover time is 90 mins - will this be enough time? And will our checked baggage go all the way to Cancun? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is enough time. All you have to do in DFW on your way to Cancun is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The Skylink connects all gates inside security.

Hi, we are arriving from London with a connection to Orange county California, where will we clear customs and immigration? in Fort Worth or Orange County? I would assume that the airline gives enough time to clear immigration in fort worth if that is where we clear at.?

In DFW you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate, which will likely be in another terminal. The Skylink train connects all gates inside security.

Hi, We arrive at DFW from Madrid at 15-00 and need to get a connecting flight to SFO at 17-00 giving us 2 hour. Both flights are with AA. and we have UK passports. Will this be enough time to clear everything. ie collect our baggage, customs control and check in again. Thanks

That should be just about enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Need Help with a long layover

I will be arriving from GRR to DFW at 9pm with a connecting flight 9 hours later at 6 am to Miami, FL. Will I need to pick up any checked in luggage with that long of a layover? If so will I need to go back through security? I was wondering if that would be a problem if I would like to stay at Minute Suites in Terminal D. I will be flying American Airlines. Thanks for any help!

You will have to ask the AA Agent in GRR if your bags can be checked through. You can stay inside security if you want and your bags are checked through as DFW is a 24 hour airport.

Thanks so much for your response ZAP! Just to clarify, I need to check with AA in GRR to see if they are able to check it through OR because DFW is a 24 hour airport it will just be automatically checked through?

You will still have to check with the AA counter in DFW. They may not be able to because it is an overnight connection. However, if they are able to, that means you can spend the night on the secure side of the airport.

Thanks again ZAP!! Appreciate your help!

  • Connection times

Hello, I have booked a ticket with an extremely tight connection time (I stupidly didnt check as assumed they would have a minimum connection time) however I've read you need 3 hours. Mine is 1hr22... Can I make this and if I don't what are the consequences, do the airline have to put you on another plane or do you have to pay? (Cancun > DFW > LHR) thanks very much.

The chances of you making this are extremely slim. It's not impossible if your flight from Cancun arrives early and things go very smoothly. If you do miss the connection, they will put you on the next flight to London with availability, but that may not be until the next day.

Right... thank you very much for being the bearer of bad tidings - I will make sure not to finish my holiday book!
