Yes, that should be enough time if your flight from Guadalajara is on-time.

  • Doha - Dallas - Vancouver BC

Hi I am travelling to Vancouver BC from Doha (Qatar Airways) via Dallas. Arrival at Dallas at 15:15 and departure on AA at 17:45. Do I have to claim my baggage and recheck for AA. How do I change terminals and will there be enough time. I have Nexus. All and any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

In DFW you will go through US Immigration, customs and security, but may not have to claim your bags since you are on an International to International connection - ask the agents in DFW. You will go through security in Terminal D and then take the skylink train to your departure gate. You should have enough time.

Many thanks this is most helpful.

We are flying from London to Dallas (BA) arriving DFW at 14:30 then flying onwards at 17:00 to Costa Rica (AA). Will we have to clear customs and immigration at DFW? If we do - will be able to make our connection?

Yes, in DFW you will go through US Immigration, go through US Customs, and through security. Both of your flights should be in Terminal D. You should not have to claim your bags since you are on an International to International connection. You have enough timne.

I am flying from Guadalajara, Mexico to London via DFW on Amarican Airlines. My flight from Guadalajara arrives at DFW at 4:50 pm at Terminal 3 and the flight to London leaves at 6:40 pm from Terminal 3, leaving me 1 hour 50 min connection time. My questions are: 1. Do I have to go through Immigration, Baggage Claim and baggage re-check-in at DFW? 2. If so, is there any inter-terminal transportation involved? Please note that my arrival and departure are both from Terminal 3 at DFW on the same Airline. 3. If so, is the time 1 hour 50 min enough on a Monday afternoon? Please help...

DFW doesn't have a terminal 3. You will arrive and depart from Terminal D. You will have to go through US Immigration, customs and security, but should not have to claim your bags because you are on an international to international connection.

Thanks so much! Is 1 hour 50 min sufficient to make this connection?

Yes, that should be enough time.

I am UK citizen. BA flight from LHR(via Edinburgh) arrives DFW 15:55. 2 hr stopover in DFW before flight to San Antonio with AA departing at 17:55.What is the procedure at DFW for baggage, immigration, etc? Return journey: leaving SA at 12:35, arriving DFW at 13:45 (AA) 2 hour stopover at DFW then 15:45 (AA) to LHR then back to Edinburgh.. Am I right in thinking that once our bags are checked into San Antonio on the return journey, that we will not see them again till Edinburgh and is there any security/customs to go through at SA/DFW? The reservations are booked on one ticket. Thanks.

In DFW on your way to SAT you will arrive in terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You should have enough time. On your way back in DFW all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The SkyLink train connects all terminals and gates inside security. You will go through security in San Antonio, there is no US Customs when leaving the US. You again have plenty of time.

I will arrive at the DFW airport in the early morning, but my international Qantas flight does not leave until after 9:00 p.m. that evening. How early can I check my bags for the international flight? I don't want to lug my baggage around all day! Any advice?

The Qantas counter won't open until about 6 PM. You will have the company of your bags until then.

Due to the travel agency I used to book a round trip from Europe, I am finding an issue with my final destination since I was forced to make the final destination the SAME city that I originally will leave. I will leave Spain (A) and go through DFW (B) and am supposed to go to (C) as listed on my itinerary, however I need to get to (D) for my final destination and am thinking of just booking a one way ticket through DFW (B) -> to (D) and avoid getting on the plane to (C) altogether. When I go through customs at DFW (B), is it possible to just exit the airport, re-enter and check in for my flight to (D)? Or will they try to immediately take my bag after customs and send it off to (C) where I don't plan on going? Thank you in advance!

You do have a chance to claim your bags and exit the airport in Dallas, however, if you book the ticket to your final destination on AA, there's a possibility that they will see that you have two reservations at the same time and cancel one of them.

  • Is re-screening necessary?

I'm flying into DFW on an international AA flight, and I travel with a carry-on bag only (no checked luggage). After I process through immigrations, I need to transfer to a domestic flight. Since I will not have any checked luggage to claim, is it possible to stay within the security area (after immigrations) and transfer to my domestic flight without having to go through security and re-screening?

You will have to go through security after you clear immigration and customs.

  • why was my AA flight arriving at DFW 12/28/15 cancelled?

i just got an email saying my AA flight 2442 from LA (10:45am) to DFW (3:49pm) tomorrow monday, 12/28 has been cancelled. on interminable hold with AA....why was my flight cancelled???? what do i do now???

Dallas has been pummeled by storms the past two days. It has severely impacted AA's operations through there. While the storm is supposed to have passed by tomorrow afternoon, lots of aircraft and crews are out of place because of the storm.

If I'm flying from Kansas City to Brisbane via Dfw, can I check bags to Dfw and recheck to brisbane

  • Can I just walk out of DFW and not take a connecting one way flight

I am scheduled to fly AA from PAR-ORD via DFW. I have a one way ticket, all AA. I would much rather do customs/immigration at DFW and just take my bags and head to a meeting in Dallas. Go back to ORD on a later day on a different ticket. I want to make sure that AA does not automatically transfer my bags to the flight to ORD. How does the customs and bag transfer process work at DFW for incoming international flights? Thanks

They do not automatically transfer your bags, you have to claim them to go through US Customs in Dallas. After you go through customs you can rip the tags off and exit the airport.

We will be arriving on AA in terminal A and departing on AA from terminal D. In between, we'd like to use the United Lounge at terminal E. Do we need to go through separate security checks each time we go from one terminal to the other?

No, the SkyLink train connects all terminals inside security.

A friend from Germany is coming to visit us for Christmas. How does the airport immigration process work? It is automatized (machines) or in person? He does not speak much English.

I'm assuming from your comments that he is a German citizen. If he has visited the US before using ESTA he can use the machines, if not he will have to wait in the agent line. This is the first step. Then he will claim his bags, and then go through US Customs (where he just has to hand them his customs form in most cases).

Thanks for your helpful response. He has visited a few years ago, but is elderly and does not like machines. Can he just stand in line and see an agent?

Yes, he should be able to.

Please explaiin where to recheck the luggage at DFW when arriving from Madrid and then catching an American Eagle connection. Is this outside of the tram (secured) area and done I n a different terminal? If so, how does one get transported with bags from one terminal to the other to get back into domestic departures?

  • Customs and Layover time

I am deciding between a few flights from PVR -DTW with a layover in DFW. One has 3:20 layover, the over 1:30, one has approx. 1:50. Also I have two young kids. What would be the minimum time without too much stress getting through customs and to the next terminal. Thanks

I wouldn't be comfortable with less than 2 hours.

I have an AA flight from Belize to DFW arriving 8:18 pm, with a connecting AA flight from DFW to COS departing 9:55pm. What is the minimum time needed at DFW to clear customs and immigration and make a connecting domestice flight. Thank you.

90 minutes is the minimum. That late in the evening you should be OK.

I'm flying in December from Paris (CDG) to DFW and then continue to Mexico city, both flights are with American Airlines. The arrival and departure will both be from the terminal D. I am traveling for the first time through USA and I have no idea what I have to do when I'm there. I have 2hrs 55min between the flights, is it enough? How is the immigration part for connecting passengers? Will my luggage fly straight to MEX or do I need to go for them in DFW? Help would be much appreciated!

You should have enough time. You should not have to claim and re-check your bags in DFW as you are on an international to international connection. You will have to go through US Immigration, Customs, and security in DFW.
