  • Excessive Baggage checked on layover between two E-Tickets

A new employer is booking my wife and me together on two tickets/itineraries to Abu Dhabi. UAL to Denver is one E-ticket for both of us, has a nil baggage allowance, and we will have to claim our baggage and recheck from Denver through LAX to Abu Dhabi. Denver to LAX and LAX to Abu Dhabi is the other E-ticket that is code shared with Etihad and has two free checked bags for each of us. Since we are moving to Abu Dhabi, each of use will have two free checked bags and about three excess bags and a boxed bike each. This two ticket situation looks to cause us to have baggage fees that will be more than double compared to if this were booked on one code-shared flight ticket/itinerary. My question is this: If we can get our bags to Denver with a friend ahead of time, can we simply get off the Durango to Denver flight, meet the friend with all the bags and start checking the bags from Denver through to Abu Dahbi? There is a 150 minute layover in Denver. We would have to leave security to meet the friend and check our bags. With excess baggage fees around $150 each, we stand to loose well over $1000 in doubled baggage fees. Is this scheme to check our bags in Denver doable?

Yes, since you are essentially starting a new trip when you get to Denver you can check all your bags there.

I am flying from Frankfurt to Denver (first port of entry in the US) and have a 3h layover to my connecting flight to Phoenix. Would this be enough to go through security, immigration and re.check my baggage and catch my next flight on time?

Yes, that is plenty of time.

Coming in from Narita and have a 4 1/2 hour layover. We'll go through customs, but could use some advice on how to kill time. Is there time to go into the city?

No, there isn't time to go anywhere. Just take your time and maybe get something to eat or do some shopping (or window shopping).

We are flying into Denver and have 45 minutes to make our connecting flight. We are flying United Airlines and one passenger is a little slow with a bad hip. Can we make the connecting flight in time? Doesn't seem to leave much room for delays! We haven't flown in YEARS! Thank you!

Yes, that is enough time, but you are right it does leave little time for delays. All united gates are on concourse B.

I am flying frontier from Minneapolis to Denver, and then from Denver to San Diego. My flight arrives at 7:04, and my next flight leaves at 7:44. Will that be enough time to change planes? I have never been to the Denver airport.

Yes, that should be enough time if the first flight is on-time. All Frontier gates are located near each other.

I am flying from Tuscon (Arizona) to Delhi (India) in Jan. I have only 68 minutes connecting time in Denver airport to catch international flight (Lufthansa). Will this much time be enough?

Yes, that should be enough time. All you have to do in Denver is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Connection between us airways to united airlines with 1 hour layover

What's the best way to make the connection

Both airlines use Concourse B (B gates) - US Airways uses gates 15-22; United the rest. Concourse B has gates B15-B37 and B38-B60 on either side of the center, followed by separate gates B80-B95 and B59-B79.

was the 2 hrs lay over in Vancouver would be enough? I'm flying from Edmonton (west-jet airlines) to Vancouver with a connecting flight (china airlines) to Taipei. Thank you in advance.

Yes, that should be enough time. Westjet and China Airlines have an Interline baggage agreement so your bags should be checked through to Taipei and all you have to do in Vancouver is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Thank you zap! I actually flying to Philippines, but I have a stop over in Taipei, Do I still need to check out my baggage in Taipei or it should be going directly to Philippines?

In that case, no, I don't think you will have to claim your bags in Taipei either.
