i'm flying from new england to california in mid-december with a layover in detroit. i'm wondering: what are the chances that my connecting flight from detroit will be canceled or delayed due to weather? does the airport have a good history of functioning in snow? or does it often close down? thank you!

Detroit Metropolitan has excellent snow clearing & de-icing equipment; that said, one cannot predict the severity of the weather.

What does it mean "terminal EM" in Detroit airport ? I'm going to take Delta to La Guardia ...

No idea. Delta uses the McNamara Terminal, Concourse A (gatesA1-38 at left, gates 40-75 at right). The overhead screens in the terminal will tell you which gate (look at your Delta flight number).

EM Terminal=Edward McNamara Terminal It's a placeholder before an actual gate is assigned
