  • 1 hour 37 mins layover,enough time?

Hi! this will be my first time using Delta. i will travel from O Hare to Detroit (DL1319)on Aug 29th, will have 1 hour and 37 minutes to my next flight to Narita (DL275). Do you think I can make through immigration check and security with this time. Will it be a troublesome if I have a checked baggage? Or do you recommend me to just have a carry on baggage? Thanks!

There is no US Immigration when leaving the US. All you have to do in Detroit is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on concourse A of the McNamara Terminal. You have plenty of time.

Thanks for your reply. I see , so if I have checked baggage, I do not have to wait, take my baggage, and drop again for the next flight?

Correct, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Detroit when leaving the country.

I have 1hr 35 minutes layover time from landing on a Virgin flight from London and then taking a Delta flight to St Louis MO. Is this enough time to make it?

That's just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

we have 1 hour layover in Detroit to catch montreal flight . Is that enough time to move from domestic to international.

If both flights are on Delta then all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no separate "International" secion.

My question is a little different to most I have a 6hr 20 minutes layover from landing on a Virgin flight in Detroit to leaving on a Delta flight to Knoxville.... given that 1.5 hours will see us clear immigration and recheck.... is it possible to leave the airport for 2 to 3 hours? if if yes... any suggestion on some we could do in this short time frame?

DTW is very far from pretty much anything worth seeing. As boring as it might be, you're best off just staying at the airport.

  • Connecting from Paris to Minneapolis

I'll be flying from Paris on Air France and have a connecting flight exactly one hour later to Minneapolis on Delta. Will I have enough time?

1 Hour is really less time than I'd recommend for an International to domestic connection, even at an easy airport like DTW. It's not impossible, but it depends on the flight from Paris arriving a bit early and there being very short lines in order for you to make it.

I have a connecting flight from Columbus to Seoul with delta through Detroit. Do I have to claim my bags, recheck in, etc in DTW to get to my ICN flight?

CMB is Colombo, Sri Lanka. Columbus, Ohio is CMH. No you don't have to claim your bags in Detroit on your way to Seoul. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Oh sorry for the typo. I really appreciate you quick response thank you!

Hi. I am taking Delta Airline from Manila to O'Hare via Detroit. Will arrive Detroit at 2pm and my flight to O'Hare is at 3:20pm. Do I have sufficient time for immigration, claiming of baggage, customs, and re-checking of baggage? Thank you very much.

It leaves no time to spare.

Hi, my mom's flight is from Charlotte, NC to Detriot to Shanghai, China, both flights are Delta. She has 2 hours connecting time but she cannot speak any English. I understand she doesn't need pick up any luggage or pass any customs, but does she need pass any security check in again at Detroit airport? Or she just need walk from arrival gate to departure gate, does she need take any shuttle or train to get to the departure gate? Thanks!

She doesn't have to go through security. All she has to do is walk from her arrival gate to her departure gate.

  • 1 hr 23 min layover at DTW flying from PEK

I have a fight from PEK and arriving at DTW and then to MEM. I only have 1 hr 23 min layover time. Is it possible for me to catch the DTW to MEM flight?

That is shorter than the recommended minimum International to domestic connection time at DTW. It's possible but everything has to go perfectly.

Do I have enough time to make my connection from DTW to DFW? I only have 2hr 9m. All flights are on Delta. Will be landing at DTW on 10/12/2016 around 10:00 am. How busy is the custom? Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. Immigration and Customs shouldn't be too busy at that time. All of the other flights from Asia to DTW arrive much later in the day. The only other international arrival around that time is a flight from Amsterdam.

Traveling from MKE-DTW-BD, with a 52 min layover in DTW. I'm guessing that's enough time to make connection. Delta all the way. Thanks!

What is "BD"? That should bee enough time.

    Ooops, sorry, BDL!

Yes, that should be enough time then. Just making sure you were going somewhere that actually exists ;)

Kansas to cleaveland via Detroit with 39 mins layover time . Is it advisable to book the ticket with 39 mins to change a plane from Detroit to cleaveland ? Urgent response appreciated. Thank you .

It's possible if the first flight is on-time, but doesn't leave much time to spare.

  • customs, baggage claim, layover time concern. Connecting from Toronto

Hi, I will be taking Expressjet Dba Delta Connection (Flight 5311) from Toronto Pearson to DTW where i will be connecting to Delta (Flight 159) to go to Korea. Will the layover time of 54min give me enough time to transfer? From which terminal to which do I have to go? Do I need to go through customs, immigration and baggage claim?

You will preclear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. In Detroit, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Both flights will be in the McNamara Terminal and all gates there are connected inside security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Yes, however it obviously leaves very little time to spare for delays.
