  • 50 minutes enough to make my connection flight to Beijing China?
    Nov 18, 2014

I am flying from Austin Texas, connecting on a flight at Detroit to go to Beijing China (PEK). Is 50 minutes layover time enough? Apparently Delta thinks it.

I forgot to mention these are both on Delta flights

Yes, that should be plenty of time. All delta gates at DTW are in the same terminal and connected inside security.

Hi - I am arriving from MNL (via NRT) into DTW and will need to make a connecting flight to CVG in 1:20 mins. Is this doable? The delta website seems to think so.

It's doable but it doesn't leave much if any time to spare in case of delays.

daughter has only 41 mins to get to connecting flight (from Burlington VT to Seattle) both on Delta. Enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. All Delta gates at DTW are connected inside security. It obviously doesn't leave much time to spare inc ase of delays though.

  • International Connection in DTW with Delta-Air France

I will have my flight from CLT to DTW (Delta), and I will connect to Air France From DTW to CDG(Paris), to do so, I will have 40min, is that enough? I also wondering if I need to check out my baggage there or not? I mean by not, the carrier would take care of my luggage. Thank you

You won't have to do anything with your baggage in Detroit. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be in the McNamara Terminal.

  • Making international transfer for non-English speaker

My Mother-in-law will be arriving from Shanghai on Delta and connecting to a Delta flight to Nashville thru DTW. How easy will the transfer be for a non-English speaker. Getting from customs interview to baggage, to re-check bags, to next gate?

The Delta terminal at DTW has a quite simple layout and I believe there are signs in Chinese.

On 10/20 : Delta Flight 1288 connecting with flight 5996 with only 38 minutes, is it doable?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. Both flights should be on Concourse A.

Hmmm, I've got the same question…Delta booked me into Detroit connecting to Beijing with a 46 min time layover. Is that at all realistic? I'm not disabled but have physical limits making a run out of the question. Thanks for the help…sweating this one!

Yes, that should be enough time.

  • Enough connection time for an international flight?

Arrive from BDL on Delta. One hour layover. Then Delta to GCM. Is that enough time for this international connection?

Yes, on your way there you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. There is no US immigration when leaving the US.

I m arriving at Detroit from Amsterdam vis Delta Airlines DL0235 at 1600 hrs and my next connection flight is at 1725 hrs to Indianapolis again on Delta Airlines DL 1335. Is the connection time of 1 hour and 25 min enough.

It is below the minimum connection time, but it's only 5 minutes below and the Delta terminal at DTW is a very simple airport so you should be OK.

On Oct 1 I could be arriving on Delta DL1350 from Seattle, departing on DL2148 to LaGuardia. The layover is only 33 mins. Assuming my first flight is on time, should I have enough time to connect?

Yes, both flights will be on the A concourse of the McNamara Terminal. Obviously you have very little buffer for delays.

Terminal EM is the McNamara Terminal, the terminal Delta and their skyteam partners use.

And yes, 51 minutes should be enough time if the first flight is domestic.

Hi, i have a flight from ord to dtw connecting to nagoya via delta air with only 1 hour layover at detroit. Do i have to get my luggage and recheck at detroit? How about security check and immigration? Thanks

No, you do not go through US Immigration when leaving the United States. All you have to do in Detroit is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate which will likely both be on the A Concourse of the McNamara Terminal.

    Great thank you.

  • 1.5 Connecting Flight MNL-DTW-LIT

I have a connecting flight in DTW from MNL (via NGO) to LIT. Will 1.5 hrs be enough time to clear immigration/customs so i can catch my flight? This is via Delta.

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. You will go through US Immigration, collect your baggage, go through US Customs, re-check your baggage with Delta, go up to the departure level and go through security. Your departure gate to LIT will probably be on the B-concourse which is connected to the A concourse by an underground tunnel.
