Transfer to DTWMay 21, 201310This will be our first time traveling to the US and I'm worried that we won't make our connection, because we have to go through customs in Detroit. We will be coming via Amsterdam with Delta and landing in DTW at 1.05pm. Our connection to Denver is at 3.42pm. I can use any help I can get as far as information about what terminal would we land coming from Amsterdam? How do we get to customs? I'm traveling with a child, who is a citizen and I will be entering on a tourist visa. Can we go through customs together or are there two different lines we need to be in? How do we re-check our luggage? What terminal would our connection to Denver leave from ( also with Delta) and how do we get to the next gate?galushaposted on Mon, May 20[ Reply ][ Like ]We went through Detroit last year, took about 1 hour to clear immigration, collect and recheck our bags and get to the gate for our onward flight. Since then tho' I gather it's taking longer as staff cuts bite. I think your timings are good, you shouldn't have a problem. The staff at immigration were very pleasant and will be able to advice which lines to join. Once you've got your bags, go through customs and there's a place to hand your bags back in, it works very well! If you've bought any duty free, you can put it into your hold baggage before handing it over. At Amsterdam they won't let you take any liquids through security, even purchased airside, not even abottle of water bought at the kiosk next to the gate!CCposted on Tue, May 21

Short LayoverMay 14, 201320I am flying in from Rochester, NY on a Delta Connection Plane to connect to a flight to Los Angeles, I have only 35 mins. to change planes. The flight to LAX is a Delta Boeing 757. Do I have enough time to make this connection?? Thankskcdposted on Mon, May 13Connections on Delta at DTW are pretty easy. If your first flight is on-time you'll have enough time, but it won't hurt to hurry.ZAPposted on Mon, May 13

NGO-DTW-MSPApr 16, 201330I am travelling from Nagoya and I have 1hr and 20mins layover time in Detroit then will need to transfer to another plane going to Minneapolis. What are the processes that I would need to go through in order to get to my connecting flight? Is this layover time enough to pass through all the processes? Thanks!Rachelleposted on Tue, Apr 16Your arrival at, and departure from DTW depends on which Terminal, Concourse & gate your airline(s) use; I suggest you open www.ifly.com/ then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text, for all the necessary information. Your time stated should suffice.tuapr13posted on Tue, Apr 16our arrival at, and departure from DTW depends on which Terminal, Concourse & gate your airline(s) use; I suggest you open www.ifly.com/dtw, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text, for all the necessary information. It's a very simple process at DTW. You should have enough time if your Nagoya flight is on-time. If you do miss your connections, Delta has a lot of DTW-MSP flights that you can be re-booked on.ZAPposted on Tue, Apr 16

Sioux Falls - DTW- to China on DeltaApr 16, 201320Does anyone know what gates flights from Sioux Falls, SD usually arrive at in DTW? I'm an older traveler flying alone and concerned about making it to the proper connecting Delta gate for the flight to China.rfposted on Fri, Apr 12At DTW, your arrival at, and departure from the terminals & their concourses & gates depends on the airline you take: At the MacNamara Terminal is Delta, while at the North Terminal are Air Canada, AirTran, American, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United & US Airways. To familiarize yourself with the airport layout, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/dtw, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.saapr13posted on Sat, Apr 13Your Sioux Falls flight will likely arrive at concourse B or C while your departure to China will leave from A. However, it's a very easy walk through a tunnel with moving walkways to get between the two. If you really have trouble getting around you can call Delta and ask for wheelchair service.ZAPposted on Tue, Apr 16

1:37 for International to DomesticMar 31, 201310Just book a trip that connects through DTW; XXX-NRT-DTW-XXX, which is DLXXX connecting to a domestic Delta Connection leg. The layover time is 1:37 1. Is 1:37 enough in DTW? I've never connected this way through DTW before. 2. Is the process still: deboard, claim bags, go through customs/immigration, recheck bags, go through security again?Viewposted on Sun, Mar 31

international connection BOS to TaipeiMar 24, 201320Returning from Taipei to DTW and going on to Boston, how much time do I need? My current schedule has me with 1.5 hours between flights. Is that enough to go thru passport control and clear customs? I assume I need to do that in DTW before going on to BOS. Is that correct?DASposted on Sun, Mar 24Yes, on arrival at DTW you need to go through customs clearance process which could now take longer due to the sequester. If you need to change terminals, or if you have 2 separate tickets for 2 airlines, your time would not suffice. I strongly suggest that you open www.ifly.com/dtw then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the detailed text.sumar13posted on Sun, Mar 24

International connection 50 minutesMar 29, 201341My route is Omaha-Detroit-Frankfurt (Germany) with Delta. I have international connection 50 minutes in Detroit in the same terminal EM. Is it enough time?irinaposted on Thu, Mar 141 person likes this post [ Like ]There is no Terminal EM. DTW only has the McNamara & the North Terminal. Delta uses the McNamara Terminal, which has Concourses A, B & C with corresponding gates (i.e., gates A38-78; gates B1-21; gates C1-43). All concourses are accessible from level 2 of the main terminal. Your transfer time is sufficient. For detailed information, I suggest you open www.ifly.com/dtw, then click on 'Terminal Map' under QUICK LINKS and scroll down to the text.thmar13posted on Thu, Mar 14It's doable if your first flight is on-time. The Delta terminal in DTW has a fairly simple layout. If you miss your connection you'll probably get sent to Frankfurt on a later flight via Paris or Amsterdam.ZAPposted on Thu, Mar 14
