Hi I am flying in on Virgin from London Heathrow, first time with family in America and then connecting to Orlando with delta 1hr 9mins turn around time.is this possible, my daughter is disabled and uses a wheelchair.

No, that is not a legal International to Domestic connection time, even at an uncongested airport like DTW. You need at least 90 minutes.

Thanks zap I have spoken to Virgin and they say the minimum time is 45mins for a connection.

That is completely wrong. Whoever you are talking to clearly doesn't understand the procedures for entering the US.

Flying from Cincinnati on Delta and connecting with Virgin Atlantic to London . What is the minumum connection time that is easily doable for someone using a cane?

45 minutes is doable, but I'd prefer an hour.

I am flying from Montreal to Cancun through Detroit, I land at gate B7 and depart at gate A75 with 1 hour between flights. Is this easily doable?

Yes, Concourse A and B are connected inside security by a tunnel.

I will be flying in from Paris via Detroit onward to Pittsburgh. Is a connection time of 1 hour 45min. do-able? The flight is Oct 2016.

In October yes, that should be possible.

Hi, I am flying to MUC from SFO via DTW. My layover is 1 hour. Is this enough time? Is there any trick that can improve my chances if things go wrong (i.e., can the crew call the other plane to wait for me)?

Both Delta. Is a general practice to wait for passengers? Is statistically this flight generally delayed?

They do not hold flights. Detroit is an uncongested airport and it will only take you 10 minutes tops to get from your arrival gate to your departure gate, so you shouldn't have trouble with this connection unless something goes seriously wrong.

Hi, I am considering booking a flight Kansas City-Detroit-Amsterdam on Friday, November 11, but the layover in Detroit is 1 hour 24 minutes. Would that be enough time? Thank you!

Yes, that is enough time. You just have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Detroit.

    Thank you!

Hi. I'm traveling from Amsterdam to Akron via Detroit. I have 2 hours transfertime available, is that sufficient? I've traveled via Atalanta last year and missed the domestic flight with 2.5 hours transfer time. US Customs / immigration took 2 hours alone on that trip, so I am a little worried about the setup in Detroit or a faster process could be expected. Thanks in advance. Thomas

Detroit usually is much faster. That should be enough time.

Hi. I am flying from Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale with 1 stop at Detroit Airport. I am travelling with Delta (KLM) DL 135 arriving 1,41 p.m. at Detroit and next flyght to Fort Lauderdale is 4 p.m. with DL 1804. Do I have enough time for this transfer, must I pick up my Luggage first and then customs and where dropping luggage. . Which court must I go to. Thank you for your answer..

Court must be concourse must I go to. Sorry for the mistake.

That is plenty of time. Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate on Concourse A.

Hi All booked thru Virgin Atlantic; Got 1hr 30 mins to clear customs and collect luggage, re-check and board Virgin flight to Tampa. How tricky is this going to be and will it be enough time? Landing DTW at 1350 and flight leaving for Tampa at 1530?

It should be just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I have 1 hour in Detroit. Is that enough time to get to the gate for the flight to Seattle

Both flights are Delta. I have checked luggage.

Yes, that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Detroit is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • 90 minute international layover

Hi I'm flying in from London and transferring to a connection to Columbus, Ohio. I have 90 minutes. Assuming flights are on time will I make the connection? I've had conflicting advice on immigration and baggage transfer procedures. Thanks so much!

Should add both flights are booked on one ticket. Flying Virgin Atlantic but internal flight operated by Delta.

That's just enough time if everything goes perfectly. You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate.

I'm flying into DTW from Manila. My mom and I both have an 1 hour and 20 minutes before our next flight. She will be going to CMH and I will be going to SAT. I need to be able to take my mom to her gate (she's elderly) before I go to mine. Will the connection time be sufficient enough to go through customs, get our bags, recheck bags and bring her to her gate and get to mine? All planes are delta however operated by other carriers.

If you do make it you both have to go straight to your departure gates. You don't have time to see her off unless your gates happen to be close to each other.

If i schedule mine at a later time, do you think she'll make hers?

It's still shorter than the recommended international to domestic connection time.
