  • Is 35 minutes too short to change planes, Delta?

I can select Delta connection/Delta flights that give me 35 minutes to change planes, if on time. Is that enough time? I don't fly much and am really trying to avoid Atlanta for a changeover (I do have Charlotte as an option, possibly).

That is enough time if your first flight is on-time but leaves no time to spare if it isn't.

  • Internation to Domestic Connection - 1 hours and 42 minutes

Hi there, I am flying from London Heathrow to Louisville, and I have a connecting flight in Detroit. Both flights are with Delta. I'm flight from London to DTW on flight DL21 that lands in Detroit at 6:01pm, then flight from DTW to Louisville (SDF) on flight DL Shuttle 3380 at 7:44pm, and therefore a layover duration of 1 hours and 42 minutes. I will just have a carry-on on me so I don't need to check-in anything. Would 1 hour and 42 minutes be enough to clear immigration and passport control and make my connecting flight to Louisville at DTW? Thanks for your help.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

Thank you for your response, really appreciate it. In the unlikely event that the queue at the immigration and custom was too long and I end up missing my connecting flight, since both of my flights (LHR to DTW and DTW to SDF) are with Delta, would Delta put me on the next available flight to SDF for free? Thanks again for the great help.

Yes, Delta would put you on the next available flight to SDF for free.

My husband and I are flying into DTW on express jet airlines and have 30 minutes to make connecting delta fly? is that enough time?

If they are both booked through Delta/Delta connection that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. All Delta/Delta Connection gates are in the McNamara Terminal and connected inside security.

I am travelling from Hongkong to Detroit and have 45 mins to take another flight to Des Moines on 15th Aug through Delata Airlines. Is it enough time to go through immigration checks and board another flight.

No, the minimum international to domestic connection time at Detroit is 90 minutes. Contact your travel agent or Delta to be rebooked.

I have an international student that is flying KLM/Delta from Amsterdam to Metro and needs to make a connector to O'hare flying Delta. Their flight from Amsterdam lands at 10:30 A.M. and his connector leaves at 12:10 P.M. from McNamara. Will that give them enough time to get through customs and make their connector to O'Hare?

Yes, that should be enough time.

Is 2h 30min long enough to get through US Immigration, claim my bags, go through US Customs, re-check my bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to my departure gate?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

If I'm leaving from Syracuse going through Detroit and ending up in San Diego will I have to change terminals?

No, all Delta flights use the McNamara Terminal. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

is my baggage transferred directly to the final destination or I have to clear custom at detorit?

Yes, even though your bags will be tagged to YYZ, in Detroit you will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. You will go through Canadian immigration and customs when you get to Toronto.

We have an hour between a delta flight from Orlando and Virgin Atlantic to London Heathrow. U.S. The transfer in the airport between flights far and is this enough time for security etc. thanks

You do not have to go through security or transfer anywhere in the airport. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the A concourse of the McNamara Terminal. You have enough time if your flight from Orlando is on-time.

Hi there. Flying into DTW from Toronto, so arriving as domestic, and flying out of N with Lufthansa. Is 2 hours enough time to transfer internationally, assuming luggage checked through?

You're flying Air Canada Express from Toronto? If so that's plenty of time. All you have to do is walk across the concourse to the Lufthansa gate.

  • Connections DTW,arrived from BrasTerminal "M" to departure Terminal EM

I have an hour to leave the terminal M in DTW, arriving from BRAZIL, go through customs and go to the terminal EM, bound for SAN FRANCISCO.How to go this path within the DETROIT airport? Is it far? The time is enough?

Those are both the same terminal, the McNamara Terminal. You will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. However, an hour is not enough time to do this, you need 90 minutes at a bare minimum.

We will only have 30 minutes to make our connecting flight. My husband are both leary about this. Will we make it? We will be flying Delta.

Yes, if your flight from Milwaukee is on-time it is possible. All Delta gates are in the McNamara terminal and connected inside security.

  • 58 min layover

My eldest son & I are traveling from San Diego to Detroit on DL86 on 07/31/15 & then we have a 58 minute layover before our flight from Detroit to Erie (DL3351), which is one of those little commuter planes. Will this be enough time to get from one terminal to another? I kind of know the layout of the Delta terminals since I just traveled with my sister to DTW in early June but it is a big airport. We are flying 1st class on the first flight, so we can be one of the first passengers off the plane as soon as the door opens. And how much time before our connecting flight do we have to check in?

You don't have to change terminals and you don't have to check in again in Detroit. Both flights will be in the McNamara terminal and you should be checked in for both flights in San Diego. You will arrive in the A Concourse and likely depart from the B or C concourse, it is connected to the A concourse by a short underground walkway. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your flight from San Diego is on-time you should have plenty of time.

I'm flying delta and have 44 minutes to make the connecting flight, is that enough time if I hurry?

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. All Delta flights are in the McNamara Terminal and all gates are connected inside security.

Hello. I am gotta fly from Toronto to Beijing and have a stop in Detroit. The flight to Detroit is DL5309 at 6:20 A.M. at July 30th, and my next flight is the same company and the number is DL189. Just wondering if I need to take my luggages when I arrive in Detroit?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Detroit is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the McNamara Terminal. You do not have to do anything with your baggage.
