Hi all, I am flying in to Detroit from Pittsburgh, arriving at 7:07 on Endeavor Airlines, then out again at 8:22 on Delta to Memphis. Are these airlines in the same area? I use a cane and will be hobbling, so it's not like I can sprint to the gates. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, both are Delta flights. Both will be on the A Concourse of the McNamara Terminal. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. if your flight from Pittsburgh is anywhere close to on-time you'll have plenty of time.

Thanks so much! That's a load off my mind.

  • Connection to London from Orlando
    Dec 1, 2015
Hi, we are looking at flying home from Orlando to London Heathrow via Detroit next August 24th. The flight gets in to DTW at 16:44 and the Virgin flight to London leaves at 17:50. Is this enough time to connect? (I understand my bags are taken straight to the next plan) Is there a later flight if we miss this one? Thanks Michael

Yes, that should be enough time as all you have to do in Detroit is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Schedules for August are far from final now, however, it's very likely that there will be a later Delta flight from Detroit to London that you can be rebooked on if your flight from Orlando is late.

    thank you

  • long enough? pre-clearance options?
    Nov 28, 2015
Flight from LHR to DTW on Virgin arr 13.30 transit to Orlando dep 15.20 Delta. Will we be pushed for time? is there any way transit passengers can be hurried through clearances requied? are there any ways we can aid speed- like any pre-clearance options? and finally, what happens if we do miss the connecting flight? Virgin and Delta have merged i thought so i hope they would ust put us on the next flight? sorry so many questions! thanks. Fay

That is enough time. You don't need to be "hurried" and most passengers on your flight will be in transit. There is no pe-clearance in London. Virgin and Delta are not "merged" but they are alliance partners. If you do miss your connection because your Virgin flight is delayed you will be rebooked on the next available Delta flight to Orlando free of charge. But as long as your Virgin flight is on-time you should have plenty of time.

I will be traveling with a group of 19 people from MCO to AMS with a stop in DTW on Delta. Can you tell me how far the connecting gates are from each other? Several in our group are in their 60s.

Both gates are in the A concourse of the McNamara Terminal. The AMS flight will depart from the middle of the concourse.

  • 33min
    Nov 24, 2015
I only have 33 min from when my flight arrives at DTW at 7:57, from ALB, and when my flight leaves for MKE at 8:30. Boarding is scheduled for 7:50. Will I make it?

It's enough time if your flight from Albany is on-time but obviously leaves little time to spare if it isn't.

  • Virgin Atlantic connecting with a Delta flight
    Nov 19, 2015
We (3 adults and 2 young children) are flying on Virgin Atlantic from LHR to DTW and connecting on to a Delta flight to STL. We have 2 hours and 5 minutes to get through customs, immigration & security checks. Will this be enough time, assuming the LHR flight is on time? If we miss our flight to STL what do we do?

Yes, that should be enough time. If your Virgin flight arrives late and you miss your connection you will be rebooked on the next available Delta flight to St. Louis.

  • Do I have enough time to connect to my next flight?
    Nov 11, 2015
Hi! This is my first time to travel with a connecting flight, therefore I just would like to be sure and be prepared. I have a flight from Manila to Atlanta, with DTW as my first port in America. I only have 1HR 41MINS layover before my flight to ATL. Is that enough time, without me being rushed to get my luggage and go through all the security checks? Also, would there be airport personnel around whom I can ask for assistance if I feel lost? Thank you for your help and assistance.

Yes, that should be just about enough time. The DTW airport is fairly simple, you shouldn't get lost.

  • will there be enough time to transfer
    Nov 10, 2015
Hi I am looking at a flight from Washington Reagan to Detroit on 12/1 at 12:25, connecting in Detroit to the 15:30 Delta flight to Shanghai the same day, with only 1h7 connecting time - is it doable ? thanks

Yes, all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on concourse A of the McNamara terminal. You should have plenty of time if your flight from DCA is on-time.

  • Transfer
    Nov 8, 2015
I am supposed to make a reservation the flight from Columbus(CMH) to DTW to Toronto in November 24. This is the time. 5:27pm(CMH) to 6:45pm(DTW). 7:46pm(DTW) to 9:04pm(Toronto). That is, I only have an hour to transfer. Is it possible to take the flight to Toronto in an hour? Thank you!

Yes, if both flights are on Delta/Delta Connection that is enough time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the McNamara Terminal.

Arriving DTW on A and connecting a flight on Southwest on D. How do I get to A from D terminal?

There's a shuttle between the North Terminal and the McNamara Terrminal. You need at least 90 minutes for your transfer without checked bags and 2 hours if you have checked bags.

  • Raleigh-Durham -DTW- Amsterdam

If I am flying from rdu via delta and need to fly to Amsterdam via KLM and have one hour is it enough and is there a terminal change involved?

All you have to do in DTW is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on concourse A of the McNamara Terminal. You have plenty of time if your flight from RDU is on-time.

  • passport control and security

I'm flying in from Amsterdam and connecting to a flight to State College, PA. I will have NO checked bags. Will 1 hour and 40 minutes be enough time to go through passport control and security.

    That should be enough time.

  • Flyin from Boston to CIU
    Oct 25, 2015
I am traveling from Boston to CIU (Saulte St Marie MI) with a 30 minute layover in detroit. It looks like the Boston flight typically Gates at A7 on one of the far ends of A and my Flight to CIU leaves from C4 on the lower level. Assuming my flight from boston arrives on time, will that be enough time to travel the terminal? Also I noticed that the flight to CIU typically leaves early will it wait until the scheduled departure time for me or migght it still leave early?

You should have barely enough time if your flight from BOS is on-time.

  • time between Flights
    Oct 20, 2015
All your answers refer to "if first connection is on time: What are the procedures if that first flight is NOT on time and you do not make a 38 min connection between flight ?

If it's clear that your flight is going to be late before you even leave the first airport, go to the agent THERE and see if they can rebook you through another Delta hub. If you get to Detroit and find that you can't make your connection, you go to the Delta service center and they rebook you to your destination.

  • Transfer time 1 hr 18 mins enough on international flight?
    Jan 11, 2015
Hi! I'm looking at a flight from SJO-DTW-CDG (Costa Rica-Detroit-Paris). Transfer time when reaching DTW from SJO is 1 hr 18 mins. Both are Delta flights, so same terminal. Will there be enough time for immigration, baggage claim and baggage check? Thank you for this site!

It's really cutting it close. It's theoretically possible but depends on everything going very smoothly.
