  • 58 min layover

My eldest son & I are traveling from San Diego to Detroit on DL86 on 07/31/15 & then we have a 58 minute layover before our flight from Detroit to Erie (DL3351), which is one of those little commuter planes. Will this be enough time to get from one terminal to another? I kind of know the layout of the Delta terminals since I just traveled with my sister to DTW in early June but it is a big airport. We are flying 1st class on the first flight, so we can be one of the first passengers off the plane as soon as the door opens. And how much time before our connecting flight do we have to check in?

You don't have to change terminals and you don't have to check in again in Detroit. Both flights will be in the McNamara terminal and you should be checked in for both flights in San Diego. You will arrive in the A Concourse and likely depart from the B or C concourse, it is connected to the A concourse by a short underground walkway. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your flight from San Diego is on-time you should have plenty of time.

I'm flying delta and have 44 minutes to make the connecting flight, is that enough time if I hurry?

Yes, that is enough time if the first flight is on-time. All Delta flights are in the McNamara Terminal and all gates are connected inside security.

Hello. I am gotta fly from Toronto to Beijing and have a stop in Detroit. The flight to Detroit is DL5309 at 6:20 A.M. at July 30th, and my next flight is the same company and the number is DL189. Just wondering if I need to take my luggages when I arrive in Detroit?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Detroit is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the McNamara Terminal. You do not have to do anything with your baggage.

Hello I am travelling from San Francisco to Toronto and have a stop over at Detroit. My flight from San Francisco is Delta 745 reaching DTW at 7:00pm. I have a connecting Delta flight Delta 1821 from 7:45pm to toronto. Do you think 45 min is enough time considering flights are on time? Thank you

That's enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the McNamara Terminal.

i am flying from Toronto to Detroit with an hour to get to my connecting flight. I will have to go through immigration and get my luggage. Is an hour enough time?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Detroit is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Assuming both flights are on Delta/Delta Connection. They will both be in the McNamara Terminal. You have enough time.

I arrive at DTW on Delta from Amsterdam at 1030am and depart to CVG with Endeavour/Delta at 1200. Do I enter the US in DTW or CVG? Is 1.5 hrs enough time? Are both flights to/from EM terminal?

In DTW you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. Both flights are in the McNamara Terminal. You should have enough time.

Flying to DTW on a Delta domestic flight to catch another Delta flight to Seattle (SEA). The arrival time is 7:49am and the departure of the next flight is 8:37am. There is about a 48 minute layover. Is this enough time to get to my next gate and check in?

If the first flight is on-time that is enough time. All Delta gates at DTW are connected inside security in the McNamara Terminal.

How do I get from gate B2 to gate A40 and how long will it take. I have 30 mins. Between flights.

B is connected to A by an underground tunnel. It will take you about 10 minutes to get from B2 to A40. Maybe even less as A40 is right next to the tunnel.

  • Arriving DTW 7/7/15 Delta 1166 connecting to Delta 5246, need Gate #s

Arriving DTW 7/07/15 Delta 1166 connecting to Delta 5246, need Gate numbers. I have 72 minutes to make the connection, but flights are always late leaving Atlanta. Do I have enough time to make the connection. If not, will Delta pay for a hotel?

You won't know the gate numbers until the day of your flight, but all Delta gates are in the McNamara terminal and connected inside security. You should have enough time unless your first flight is heavily delayed.

  • Group travel and time to reach international terminal

I will take a group of 20 college students to fly Delta from Houston to Detroit, then to Beijing, China. Our flight will arrive at DTW at 11:13a, and the flight to Beijing is 12:30p. Is that enough time to go through any security check point and to get to the international terminal? Also, is there any expediting process for a group of this size? Thank in advance.

There is no security checkpoint and there is no separate "International Terminal". All you have to do in Detroit is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be in the A concourse of the McNamara Terminal.

If your flight from Houston is on-time you should have plenty of time.

Thank you for the reply. DTW sounds to have a pretty friendly setup.

I arrive from Scranton PA at DTw at 8:00 am and connect to flight to Atlanta that departs at 8:30 am. (30 mins.!). Any problem making that connection?

As long as your first flight is on-time that is enough time. All Delta flights are connected inside security in the McNamara Terminal. if you miss your connection because your first flight is late, Delta has almost hourly flights from Detroit to Atlanta that you can be rebooked on.

I'm arriving from Paris Air France 3618 operated by Delta and flying into Syracuse Air France 9554 operated by Dl /shuttle America Delta Connection on Aug. 14th (Fri). Would 2 hours and 20 minutes be enough to go through non-citizen customs and re-check into my connecting flight? Thank you!

Yes, that is enough time. You will be checked into both flights in Paris. In Detroit you will arrive in the McNamara terminal, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then go through security and to your departure gate.

Hi! My flight is scheduled to arrive at DTW from CDG at 01:13 PM, and my connecting flight to SJO leaves at 2:53 PM, Will I be able to make my flight as a non-US citizen? I'm flying with DELTA internationally flight 0099 and 0901. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time. In Detroit you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, then go through security and to your departure gate. Also be aware that DL 901 flies to Atlanta first before it goes to San Jose, meaning that it is technically a domestic flight out of Detroit. However this doesn't really matter as all Delta flights are in the McNamara terminal and both of your flights will be on the A concourse.

my ticket says I fly into terminal em. I can't find terminal em on map

It means the McNamara Terminal. I have no clue why Delta continues to call it "EM" on itineraries.
