  • Do I have enough time
    May 6, 2014

Flight arriving at 8:07 (Delta 1357) Next one leaves at 8:37 (Delta 4056/Endeavor Air) Is that enough time?

It is enough time but it leaves very little time for delays. You will arrive in the A concourse and likely depart from the B/C concourse, which are connected by an underground tunnel inside security.

Thank you! I will wear my running shoes.

I am flying from Paris to Indianapolis with a layover in Detroit. Where do I go through customs? How much time should be allowed? I am on the same airline for all flights so would I just go through customs in Indy

You will go through immigration and customs in Detroit. You will go through US Immigration, claim your baggage, go through US customs, and re-check your bags with Delta. Then you will go through security and to the departure level for your departing flight to Indianapolis. You'll need about 90 minutes.

That will be very difficult. The recommended international->domestic transfer time is 90 minutes.

I'm flying on KLM KL6545 from San Francisco to Detroit with only a 51 minutes connection to another flight to Amsterdam KL6048. Both flights are operated by Delta Airlines. I'm worried about missing my next flight. Do I have enough time? Do I have to be checked by the immigration/whatever between the flights?

No, all you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be on the A Concourse of the McNamara Terminal. You should have enough time.

Yhanks a lot for your help and reply. Cheers

We will be arriving from Amsterdam by Delta 620 on 14 May at 1.09 pm and have to go through international immigration and customs before taking the 3.20 pm Delta 2427 flight to St. Louis. Is the time gap sufficient? Thanks

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

    Thanks a lot

We are arriving on a 757 from SLC on a Friday in June at 4:45 pm and our flight to FCO (Rome) leaves one hour and three minutes later. Is the connection enough time? Will we probably arrive and leave from the same concourse? Never been to DWT. Thanks.

Yes, both of your flights will be on the A Concourse. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

    Thanks!

I'm flying on delta flight 5092 to detroit with only a 31 minute connection. I'm worried about missing my next flight which is delta 1921. Do I have enought time. Both flights are in terminal EM. Thanks!

Yes, that should be enough time, but it doesn't leave much room for delays. All you have to do in Detroit is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

is there enough time to connect from flight DL5560 arriving 1147 to flight KL1839 departing 1608? Are they in the same terminal?

Sorry, arrival time was 1447 not 1147

Yes, both flights will be in the McNamara Terminal. You should have plenty of time.

I'm planning a delta flight from YYZ that arrives in DTW at 4:40 pm on a friday and departs to MSP at 5:35 pm (55 minute layover). Do I just go from gate to gate, or do I need to retrieve and recheck baggage?

All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will pre-clear US Immigration in Toronto.

I'm looking at Delta flights from China arriving at Detroit 6-8pm on Saturday, is 1hr 39mins enough time to connect to another domestic Delta flight?

Yes, that should be enough time. Immigration times in DTW are generally pretty quick and all Delta flights are in the same terminal.

  • HOW CAN I CONNECT FROM McNAMARA TO NORTH TERMINAL?
    Mar 22, 2014
    1
Hi, I will arrive from Paris at 16:20 at McNAMARA Termial but I have to change to North terminal to fly to Denver with Frontier Airlines. I guess there should be some transportation but I dont find it. Could you help me please?.

There is a shuttle bus but it runs infrequently since few passengers have to go between the two terminals. I hope you have at least 2 hours for your transfer, preferably closer to 3.

  • 30 Minute Layover
    Mar 5, 2014

I'm traveling through DTW on Friday from ROC to SFO and have a 30 min layover on Delta. Flights are 3691 and 745. Will I make this?

You will have to hope your first flight is on-time and hurry. You will likely arrive in the B Concourse of the McNamara Terminal and depart from the A Concourse. They are connected by an underground tunnel with a moving walkway. Your connection may take up to 20 minutes, so that leaves just 10 minutes to spare.

  • Transfertime for transit to Ft. Lauderdale
    Mar 6, 2014

On may 3rd I will arrive from Amsterdam at 10.40 a.m. with DL 251 and have to transfer with DL 1704 at 14.00 p.m. to Fort Lauderdale. What exactly I have to do when I arrive. Is the first time I have to transfer in U.S. and what I understood Detroit Airport is very big. Please help me.On what floors are Immigration, Luggage pick up, Customs, re-check desk and concourses?

You will arrive in the center of the A concourse and go directly to US immigration, there's no way to get lost here. Then you will claim your bags, go through US Customs, and then re-check them with Delta, then you will go up to the departure level and go through security. Then you will go to your departure gate which will also be in the A concourse of the McNamara Terminal.

Thx ZAP for your answer. So, if I understand quite right, US Immigration, luggage, US Customs and rechecking with Delta is all on the same where we arrive?

I mean the same Floor. Sorry.

Yes, you will go down some stairs after you get out of the jetway (it will be the only way to go) and everything you have to do will be down on that level until you have to go through security. There are plenty of signs.

    Is the tranfertime enough?

Will you be so kind to tell me of the transfer time between the two planes is enough? Thank you ZAP for your help!

  • 44 min. layover- can we make it?
    Mar 5, 2014
    2
We will have 44 mins. to make our next connection. We are flying Delta from Charleston,SC changing planes in Detroit before flying on to Buf,NY. Is this possible?

Yes, if your first flight is on time it's quite possible. All Delta flights are connected inside security in the McNamara Terminal and the worst possible connection would take about 20 minutes.

Thanks for the help. It shouldn't be a problem now because they have changed my flight to where we have an hour and 10 mins. layover.

Arrive 6 Mar on Deltat DL3982 from Manchester, NH. at 9:30 am. Depart to Tokyo on Delta DL275 at 1:30 pm. Could you please provide a terminal map showing route from arrival area to departure area. Thank you very much.

You will arrive in the A, B, or C concourse of the McNamara Terminal (likely B or C) and depart from the center part of the A concourse of the same terminal. All Delta gates at DTW are connected inside security. You will have a ton of time for your connection as it should take 20 minutes or less and you have 4 hours.
