Hi, I am flying in on Delta to Detroit for the 1st time and connecting to Indianapolis. May I know which Concourse the flight will land and which Concourse the connecting flight will be? Will appreciate if you could share where to collect luggage and check them in again. Thank you so much.

Where are you flying to Detroit from? I can't answer your question without that information.

I am flying in to Detroit from Narita, Japan.

You will arrive in the McNamara Terminal concourse A, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate, which will likely also be in Concourse A of the McNamara Terminal.

we arrive on delta from Grr to Detroit and have 30 minutes to get on next flight to tampa. Will we make it? Will they get our luggage transferred to the other plane in time?

It's possible. It obviously leaves no time to spare if the flight from Grand Rapids is delayed.

My connecting flight is listed as going out of EM terminal. What does that mean. The arriving flight says M, I get that, but not EM.

The McNamara Terminal is "EM" in Delta parlance. The M you see on the first flight likely refers to the first flight. All Delta flights use the McNamara Terminal at DTW

    Thank you Zap

  • Connection from UK to Nashville

I am arriving in DTW from the UK at 1:50pm and then flying out to Nashville at 3:20pm - is this sufficient time for my connection considering I have to go through customs, collect my baggage & check in again?

Ooops, I forgot to mention that the flight from the UK is Virgin Atlantic and the ongoing flight is with Delta. I believe that both airlines operate out of the McNamara terminal.

Yes, that is just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

Thanks ZAP, fingers crossed all goes smoothly!!

  • 1 Hr 15 mins layover, Enough time??

Hi, I'm having from Cincinnati to DTW and have a 1hr 15 min layover until my next flight , which is ICN Seoul. Is that enough or I shoose the one with 2h and 51 mins. Thanks

That is plenty of time. All you have to do in Detroit is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

Choose the 2hr and 51 min layover. Customs is a pain in DTW.

There is no US Customs when leaving the US. Please ignore the previous poster.

I have an inbound flight from Los Angeles and an outbound flight to Amsterdam via Detroit, on Delta. Do I need to pick-up my luggage? Is it possible to get to my outbound flight in time?

You don't have to do anything with your baggage. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both on Concourse A of the McNamara Terminal. You have enough time if your flight from LAX is on-time. There is no US Customs when exiting the US.

Hi, Traveling on Saturday on a Virgin Atlantic flight and then on yo Knoxville via delta airlines. I have one hour 35 minutes layover between flights. I checked with Virgin and they say my baggage is through checked but I still have to collect my bags and go through customs. Then put my luggage on a transfer baggage belt? I've never heard of a transfer baggage belt is this information correct? And will I have enough time to catch the delta flight? Thanks for any help in advance.

Yes, that information is correct. Yes, you should have enough time.

Hello, can someone please tell me if 39 minutes is enough time to transfer from a Delta flight from Buffalo to Detroit arriving st 11:22am to a Delta flight from Detroit to Ft Myers lleaving st 12:01pm?

That is enough time. All you have to do in DTW is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both likely on concourse A. Obviously it doesn't leave much time to spare if your first flight is delayed.

Delta changed our flight schedule. We will be flying in from Memphis with only 45 min from the time we land till the time the flight for Seattle leaves. Should I ask Delta for help?

That is enough time. All you have to do in DTW is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both likely on concourse A. Obviously it doesn't leave much time to spare if your first flight is delayed.

Hi. Will be flying from China into DTW for a connecting flight to Toronto. There is a 1 hour and 35mins layover. Will this be enough time? Not sure if I need to go through customs, get luggage then on to next flight or not. Thanks in advance

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. Yes, you have just enough time assuming both flights are on Delta.

Thanks ZAP. The PEK DTW YYZ are both on Delta. If ever there is a problem with luggage, customs lines, etc. and I miss the flight in Detroit will I be able to get on the following one? The flight arrival in DTW is at 6:20pm and departure at 7:55pm. Thanks again

Yes, they will put you on the next one. However, the 7:55 PM flight is the last flight to Toronto of the evening. So you'll be spending the night in Detroit.

Hey chaps! I'm stopping off in DTW for 3hr 37 on my way to Oklahoma. Will I be able to take a smoke like outside the airport or in a shelter within the terminal or something? Cheers in advance.

You'll have to go outside, but you have enough time to do that.

MY FLIGHT FROM ELMIRA LANDS AT 11:01; FLIGHT TO LAS VEGAS DEPARTS AT 10:46. I THINK I CAN MAKE IT IN THE SAME TERMINAL, BUT NOT SURE IF I HAVE TO GO THRU THE TUNNEL.

    I meant 11:46 departure

yes, that is enough time, even if you have to go through the tunnel, as long as your flight from Elmira is on-time.

    Thank you!

  • Concourse A to B connection time?
    Mar 31, 2016

I will have only 37 min between flights in DTW; inbound flight typically arrives into Concourse A, and outbound departs from B. About how long should it take me to go from gate to gate? (Walking, not running :-) ) Thanks.

It's enough time if the first flight is on-time but obviously leaves no time to spare. It's not far from Concourse A to B.
