  • Transfer from AMS-DFW
    Apr 8, 2016
Hello, I am flying from Amsterdam to Dallas with a transfer in Detroit. As I am an international traveller, do I have to pick up my bag and recheck it again? and of course go trough customs and security again? Do I have enough time for this all ( I have 1 hour and 40 minutes)

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. Yes, you have just enough time assuming both flights are on Delta.

  • Smoking
    Apr 5, 2016
Hey chaps! I'm stopping off in DTW for 3hr 37 on my way to Oklahoma. Will I be able to take a smoke like outside the airport or in a shelter within the terminal or something? Cheers in advance.

You'll have to go outside, but you have enough time to do that.

  • 45 MINUTES
    Apr 6, 2016

    I meant 11:46 departure

yes, that is enough time, even if you have to go through the tunnel, as long as your flight from Elmira is on-time.

    Thank you!

  • Concourse A to B connection time?
    Mar 31, 2016
I will have only 37 min between flights in DTW; inbound flight typically arrives into Concourse A, and outbound departs from B. About how long should it take me to go from gate to gate? (Walking, not running :-) ) Thanks.

It's enough time if the first flight is on-time but obviously leaves no time to spare. It's not far from Concourse A to B.

  • Miami - DTW - MSP (57 minutes eough?)
    Mar 25, 2016
Hello, I am looking to book a flight from Miami to Minneapolis through DTW. It seems I have 57 minutes between flights, is that enough? Would I need to run? Both flights are Delta. Thanks, AK

Yes, if the flight from Miami is on-time that is plenty of time. Both flights will be on Concourse A of the McNamara Terminal.

  • Flight from europe to Chicago, connecing in Detroit
    Mar 25, 2016
Hi, I have my flight booked from Barcelona to Chicago via Detroit and I have 1h 40 min in Detroit. If I have to go through the immigration checks, collect the baggage and re-check it and then pass through security and to the gate to the domestic flight, will I have enough time? All flights are booked through KLM. Last August when I flew to Detroit as the final destination it took more than 1 hour for the immigration checks and baggage collection.

Yes, you have to do all those things. 1 hr 40 minutes is barely enough time. Luckily Delta has frequent flights from Detroit to Chicago that you can be rebooked on if you miss your connection.

  • Connection Time March 25
    Mar 22, 2016
Hi, I am flying from O'Hare to DTW on Delta arriving at 12:43 PM, and departing DTW on Delta to Tokyo at 1:26 PM. Will that be enough time, and will I arrive at DTW on Concourse B or C, and have to get to Concourse A for Tokyo flight?

You actually will likely arrive in concourse A, but even if you arrive in B you should have enough time as the departure gate for Tokyo will be near the tunnel from B/C. Yes, you have enough time.

  • 1 hour 10 minute layover fro Delta to KLM connection
    Mar 22, 2016
Flying from DFw to Amsterdam via Detroit (Delta from DFW to Detroit; KLM Detroit to Amsterdam). Have a 1 hour 10 minute layover - is that enough time to make connection assuming arriving flight on time?

Yes, all you have to do in DTW is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, both in the McNamara Terminal.

  • Do I have enough time to connect
    Mar 19, 2016
I'm travelling from St. Louis to London via Detroit. My flight times just changed and I now have a couple of minutes under an hour to connect. I'm travelling Delta the whole way. Does this give me plenty of time even if my flight from STL runs a few minutes late? And do they hold the international plane up a few minutes if the domestic flight is running a little late? It's just got me a little worried.

You should have plenty of time. All you have to do in DTW is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. They usually don't hold flights for people.

  • 50 Minutes - Domestic to International Connection ?
    Mar 13, 2016
What is the minimum connecting time to international flights? There was a schedule change and now by connection is only 50 minutes. My route is Chicago(O'Hare)-Detroit-Amsterdam. Should reschedule to an earlier departure from O'Hare Airport? (Both flights are Delta Air Lines)

That should be enough time. There are no special procedures when connecting to an International flight. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • tram or walk?
    Mar 13, 2016
40 min to get from C to A

There is no tram from C to A. It is only connected by an underground walkway.

  • HOU -> DTW -> ICN
    Mar 8, 2016
I have a 66 min connection here coming from Houston connecting in Detroit and going to South Korea. Will that be enough? Do I have to go through customs? Or will that be accomplished in Houston?

There is no US Customs when departing the US. All you have to do in Detroit is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You just show your passport to the Delta gate agent when boarding your flight to Seoul.

    Awesome, Thank you so much!

  • DTW International Layover
    Mar 6, 2016
My flight from YUL arrives in DTW at 6:56 and my flight out is at 7:50. This feels like an incredibly short layover but my travel agent said it would be fine. Will I have enough time?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Montreal. All you have to do in Detroit is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

  • Time between flights
    Mar 4, 2016
We have an international flight from Germany that arrives in Detroit with 90 minutes to get to next flight to Phoenix. Is this enough time?

Yes, that should be just about enough time.
