Hi, This sunday, I am flying thru DELTA Airlines from Tokyo to Detroit and have approx 1 hour 45 minutes time for my connecting DELTA flight to MKE from Detroit. Is it sufficient enough for non-us citizen? Considering it is Sunday, will there be more rush?

That is enough time. Sunday, especially for international arrivals, isn't more busy than any other day.

I fly into Detroit on Air France from Austin at 8:55 pm and my connecting flight leaves for Paris also on Air France at 9:35 pm - very short time to get to my next flight - will I make it and do I need to re-check my baggage

All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You don't have to do anything with your baggage. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Traveling through Detroit I have 39 minutes between take off and landing on Skywest and delta will I make it? That is hoping all other planes are on time.

That is barely enough time if your first flight is on-time. All Delta and Delta Connection flights are located in the McNamara Terminal and connected inside security.

  • nervous driver drop off DTW for Delta Domestic departure

Arriving to DTW from toledo oh. and being dropped off for a Domestic Delta flight. I'll have a VERY unfamiliar and nervous driver. Can someone suggest very basic steps to give them when arriv. from I-275 to simply leave me close to Delta departure Thanks much

There's LOTS of signs pointing the way from I-275 to the McNamara Terminal. Also, don't get worried if they accidentally get off for the arrivals level instead of the departures level, you can still get to the check in counters and gates from the arrivals level.

I need to find someone going to Detroit in the next 3 weeks so I can send my sister's kitten to her. Do people do this?

    I've never heard of it.

Im flying from DTW to SEA wednesday. Its a straight flight but im not used to the detroit airport set up like i am to the flint. Im flying thru delta airlines. Can u give a walk through or a map before i go?

The Delta terminal in DTW is very simple. It's easiest to enter it off of I-275 but you can enter off I-94 as well. If you're coming from flint, I-275 is probably easier. It has an arrivals level and a departure level, a large check in hall on the departure level, then a number of security checkpoints, then there is one long concourse (A) and another building connected to it via a tunnel that contains concourses B and C. Your flight to Seattle will depart from A. If your flight is leaving from a gate at the end of A, you can take a tram down the terminal to save you some walk time, but there is no instance where you HAVE to take the tram. The departure gate monitors at DTW even say whether it is faster to walk or take the tram for each departing flight. Here is a (somewhat cluttered map) of the terminal: http://www.ifly.com/detroit-metropolitian-airport/DTW-McNamara-Terminal Here is Delta's official map http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/airports-and-aircraft/airports/detroit.html

Thank u. That helps a lot. Next question. Since my flight is at 845 a.m . what time should i show up to the airport?

If you're checking a bag, plan to be at the door at like 7:30, if not, 7:45. If you have to park, add on an extra 20-30 mins.

I'm a first time US immigrant. My port of entry is DTW. Will be flying on May 17, via DL 276 at 15:19 hrs. Connecting flight going to DCA is at 17:25 via DL 2144. Is 1 hr. and 6 mins. sufficient for immigrant and customs clearances? Would appreciate your help and advise.

NO! You need at least 90 minutes, preferably a little more.

  • Time between flight connection at Detroit

Hi, I'm thinking of booking the Delta/Virgin flight from Omaha to LHR.The Delta flight from OMA gets into DTW at 16.55. And then the Virgin flight from DTW to LHR leaves at 17.50. Is that enough time to connect and go through customs?

You do not go through US Customs when departing the US. you only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in DTW. All Delta/Virgin gates are in the McNamara Terminal and connected inside security. That is enough time.

  • AMS -DTW to ATL

Hi! I will be flying from AMS to DTW and from there to ATL with a 1:20 connection. Both Delta flights. Pretty terrified I won't make it... I take it I arrive at the A concourse but don't know from where I will be departing again. Any idea if this connection is feasible?

You will arrive in A, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk, go through security and to your departure gate which will also be on the A Concourse. You should barely have enough time, but if there's a delay and you miss your connection, Delta operates nearly constant flights between Detroit and Atlanta that you can be rebooked on.

I have a Delta flight from LHR that lands at DTW at 3:10pm. Can I make a 5:25pm flight from DTW to BWI with enough time to go through customs, get my bag, recheck it and get to the gate?

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

I'm completely new to flying so any helpful information would be appreciated. My flight is from Toronto to Detroit on delta and then I have to transfer to air france for a flight to Paris in 45 minutes. Will my bags be automatically transferred when the air lines are different or will I have to pick them up and take them to the departure gate?

On your way to Paris you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Minneapolis is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Your bags will be tagged through to Paris.

Sorry, that's all you have to do in Detroit, not Minneapolis.

Hi, I am travelling from YYZ to CVG, with a layover at DTW. I am on a B visa. I am also a Canadian PR holder. Do I have to go through Immigration at DTW? Also, my layover time is 48 mins, will that be sufficient time to go through all the procedures? Thanks.

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. In Detroit all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. Yes, 48 mins is enough time to do that if your first flight is on-time.

I have guests leaving DTW on a 6:00 a.m. American flight to Miami. One of the two guests will continue on to the Dominican Republic on another flight. What time do they need to check in for their flight? Two hours doesn't seem right as the airport is usually deserted at 4:00 a.m.

  • Time needed before flight

Hi, I have a flight out of Detroit to Nashville on a Friday at 7am. If I'm not checking any bags, just a carry-on, about what time do I need to arrive to the airport by? Thanks!

If you check-in online you could get to the airport about 45 minutes before your flight since then all you will need to do is go through security and to your gate.

Thank you! Does it not take them a long time to search through your carry-on? I've never packed all of my things into a carry-on suitcase before. Thanks again

Your carry-on should not have to be searched unless you pack something that you're not allowed to carry.
