The Darlington Raceway, or "The track too tough to tame", has been a staple on the NASCAR racing series since 1950 when a crowd of over 25,000 gathered for the first running of the Southern 500. Currently, the track plays host to 2 weekends of NASCAR excitement, and a host of other events throughout each year. Darlington Raceway is located just 15 minutes from the Florence Regional Airport. You can visit our Ground Transportation section for information on arranging travel from the airport to the raceway and it's events. The Darlington Raceway operates the Joe Weatherly Stock Car Museum and NMPA Hall of Fame year round. This museum has been recently renovated with new attractions and information and is open daily from 9am to 5pm.
