I have 2hrs 10 min. to connect from Caribbean Air to Alaska Air. Is that enough time?

Were your tickets bought separately or on one reservation? Will you have checked bags

Yes, 1 reservation and yes checked bags. Caribbean Air says no, but Alaska says it should be fine.

Yes, that should be enough time.

I'm landing @ FLL 4:26pm from Dominican Republic connecting flight leaves 6:06pm to LAS is 1 hour 40 minutes enough time to get thru customs and do I have to retrieve my checked bags and recheck them. both flights are on Jet Blue

Yes, that should be enough time. Yes, you will go through US Immigration, then claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check them at the transfer desk.

  • Spirit Flight to Southwest Flight

Hello, I have a flight getting into FFL at 5:45pm with Spirit, arriving from Montego Bay. Then I'm taking another flight with Southwest to Los Angeles at 7:25pm. Is that enough time. What terminals are they in?

Spirit will arrive in Terminal 4 and Southwest will depart from Terminal 1 - opposite ends of the airport. You will also have to transfer your bags all the way across the airport. This will be a very difficult if not impossible connection.

I arrive on Southwest into FLL at 11:05 with bags checked. Have an outgoing to SJU that leaves at 12:42. Is that sufficient time?

Is your second flight also on Southwest? If so that should be enough time. If it's another airline it would barely be possible.

Hi, I am arriving at fll from atl at 10:55 am in southwest airlines and then jumping on jetblue to cartagena, colombia that departs at 12:32 pm. I have no checked bags, will i have enough time to make it. thanks

Yes, but you will have to run to the JetBlue terminal because it is in an International flight you may not be able to check-in online so you will have to get your boarding pass at the JetBlue counter.

I arrive on Delta at 9:31am (terminal 2) and depart on Spirit at 10:35am (terminal 4). Enough time to get over to terminal 4 from terminal 2 ? I'm not checking any bags

You will need to check in for your Spirit flight online before departing on your Delta flight and RUN. But if your Delta flight is on-time, I think you can make it.

  • Baggage transfer from T1 to T2

What's the best way to move 4 heavy bags from T1 (SWA) to T2 (DL)?

I would just walk - the only other option is to walk to the rental car drop off area and take the rental car shuttle to Terminal 2. However, that would probably take longer and involve just as much walking.

I arrive on JetBlue at 8:12am and depart on Frontier at 10:35am. Enough time to get over to terminal 1? How exactly do I get over there? Is there a shuttle?

No checked bags. Is it a far walk?

    What airport is this at?

I finally see that this is at FLL. Yes, that should be enough time. You can either walk or take the rental car shuttle. The rental car shuttle will drop you off at the consolidated rental car building, which is just across the street via a pedestrian bridge from T1.

  • Is 2.5hours enough time between connections?

Hi ! I'm arriving at FLL airport at 5:53pm from Punta Cana. My family and I (party of 3) will have to go through immigration customs, collect our bags and check them in again for the next flight. I have an option of purchasing tickets for a flight that will be leaving at 8:20pm or 9:40pm to New York. Do you think that 2.5 hours will be enough for us to go through customs, collect and check in our bags? Or should I just go with a safer option and purchase a ticket for a flight that leaves at 9:40 pm? Thank you so much for your help! Nikki

You should book the 9:40 flight. The international facilities at FLL can get congested at peak times and there are frequent delays.

Zap, I'll be making a connection in FLL. my flight from Cancun on jetblue lands at 6:10PM. We'll then have to go thru customs, then check bags, then security. will 2.26 hours being enough.

I think it's possible. But there's very little time to spare if there are any delays.

  • International to Domestic connection on Spirit
    Jan 9, 2015

Hi, looking at a Spirit itinerary from San Jose, CR to DFW via Fort Lauderdale; the flight from SJO is schedule to arrive at FLL at 6:01am, and the connecting flight to DFW is scheduled to depart at 7:05. Not checking any bags. Seems like a very tight int'l-to-domestic connection to me, though presumably it's "legal" or they wouldn't be offering to ticket it on one itinerary. Couple questions: 1) Could this potentially be enough time to make the connection? I'm flying on a US passport and have Global Entry, so Customs & Immigration hopefully should not take long. 2) After clearing Customs, will I have to reclear security for the connection?

Yes, it is very tight but having global entry and no checked bags will help. Yes, you will have to go through security after clearing customs.

  • JetBlue Connecting Flights

I'm flying Jetblue from NY to Costa Rica connecting in FLL next Saturday. Flight lands at 9:17a at FLL and my next flight out leaves at 9:45a. A Jetblue rep told me if there was a problem they'd contact me but I'm worried as I'm traveling alone with an infant. I'm hoping I leave from the same terminal. How risky is this?

Both flight should be in Terminal 3, but yes, your itinerary leaves very little time to spare if your flight from NY is late at all (which is common).

How did you make out? I have a similar situation in a cpl weeks.

How did this work out? I am traveling with 5 children this summer on JetBlue and my layover to the Bahamas from NY is only a little over an hour.

Hi arriving from Jamaica at terminal 3 Jet blue 4:35pm and connecting to silver to departing at 6:05 to Jax. First time doing connection flights is this enough time and how do i get from terminal to terminal. help

It's really pushing it. You'll have to take the Rental Car shuttle to the Consolidated rental facility and then take the walkway to T1.

since its international arrival its terminal 4 so how bad is it from there. what is a tram?

There are no trams in FLL. I didn't mention a tram. Taking the shuttle bus and walking to T1 should take 20 minutes or so from the time you exit customs.

  • 3 hours - SouthWest - Norwegian Connection?
    Oct 27, 2014

Hi, If I'm arriving on SouthWest from SJU at 20:00, with checked luggage, can I sensibly make the 23:00 Norwegian flight out to LGW? This would be on a Monday in Feb 2015, if that makes any difference. Will this involve a terminal change? I assume Puerto Rican flights are considered domestic, so even as a UK national I'll only have to clear immigration and customs on the outbound flight to London - is this correct? There is an inbound Spirit flight 2 hours earlier, but 5 hours seems a bit over cautious for the connection?

Yes, flights from Puerto Rico to the Continental US are domestic flights. You won't have to go through any immigration procedures in Fort Lauderdale. This does involve a change of terminals. You will arrive in Terminal 1, have to claim your bags from Southwest, then take them to Terminal 3 to check with Norwegian. 3 hours should be enough time. But considering neither carrier would be accomodating if you missed your connection, I would book the 5 hour connection personally.

We are arriving FLL at 1:00 from Detroit on Delta (Concourse 2, D Terminal) and leave at 2:42 on Silver Air for Bahamas. Is this enough time as we will need to get checked bags then recheck them at new terminal? I think Silver Air leaves from Concourse C in Terminal 1?

It should be enough time but it doesn't leave much time to spare in case of delays.

I just checked with Silver Air and they do leave and arrive from gate C5 even on their flights to/from the Bahamas. We should be able to check bags all the way through to the Bahamas on the way there, so that will save us some time. It looks like we will have to get our checked bags then go through customs on our way home, but we have over 2 hours between flights then. I'm assuming we will have to get a cart and bring the bags over to Terminal 2 to check in for flight home on Delta. We have never traveled internationally from FLL...kind of confusing! Thanks for your reply.

On your return if your bags are checked through to DTW you will be able to re-check them after customs.

    Thank you, good to know!
