  • Connecting between Bahamasair and Norwegian

Hello. We arrive in FLL by Bahamas Air 207 at 7:25 PM. We have a connecting flight to CPH by Norwegian DY7042 at 9:30 PM. We have checked baggage. Will this be enough time? Both airlines arrive/depart in same terminal.

That is barely enough time if the BahamasAir Flight is on-time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Nassau or Freeport. You will have to transfer bags between airlines yourself.

You need 2 hrs domestic to international check in. If you have checked bags it will be tight because you will have to claim and re-check unless Bahamas air has an interline agreement with Norwegian.

Bahamasair and Norwegian do not have an interline agreement. Norwegian doesn't interline with anyone. They will have to transfer their bags themselves.

  • Southwest to Norwegian

I have a Norwegian flight leaving at 11:00pm. I am considering a flight through Southwest that would arrive at 8:40pm. I will have baggage and will have to go through standard security. I am thinking this should be plenty of time, but figured it wouldn't hurt to see what others think.

In case it matters, it would be on a Sunday in June.

It won't be "plenty of time" it's closer to "not quite impossible" than "plenty of time". I'd want at least 3 hours, especially considering that Southwest and Norwegian are complete opposite ends of the airport.

Thank you for the help. I was afraid of that. And of course prices have gone up since I asked this (should have checked back sooner). So now I have to decide to risk it, pay 35% more for 1-1/2 more hours or 15% more for the cheapest flight... which would have me in the airport for 6 hours. Thank you again.

10 march I arrive 5 am at FLL from medellin and going out 9 am to montego bay and i have to recheck baggage, can i make it? And the same 19 march i arrive 9am from kingston and going out 12.17 pm to Havanna and have to recheck baggage with new airline?? I book all flight separate Thank you Marcus Sweden

The first connection you have plenty of time. For the second connection you should have enough time - what airlines are you flying?

    Carribian airways and jetblue.

Yeah, that one should still be enough time but might be a bit riskier since Caribbean isn't exactly known for being on-time.

  • Southwest to JetBlue

I am arriving from Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale on Southwest Airlines terminal 1, I think. We have carryon bags and global entry and are connecting to JetBlue terminal 3, I think. We are scheduled to arrive in FLL at 330pm and depart to SAN at 529pm. Should this be enough time?

With carry-ons that is enough time. You will actually pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Nassau so all you have to do is walk to Terminal 3 and go through security if you check in for your JetBlue flight online.

    Thank you very much

Global entry gets you through the first phase quickly at Fort Lauderdale airport, the initial screening. Depending on customs, the lines could be long after the initial screening.

Sallyanne, that is irrelevant as they will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Nassau.

  • Delta to Spirit

Hi! Thanks in advance for any information. I'm flying Delta into FLL at 2:50pm, then will be flying Spirit departing at 5:06pm to Lima. (2 hours, 15 minutes) I'm doing a carry on, but will need to check in/ check baggage at the Spirit desk. Is this enough time? Any other advice?

It should be just enough time if the Delta flight is on-time.

  • Connection times too tight or ok?

Flying from Pittsburgh to cartegena in may on JetBlue. On the way there we have a 1.24 hour layover and return with a 1.47 hour layover. Is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Terminal 1 to 3 with a 40 minute layover

Arriving FLL from Key West on United, Terminal 1, have a 40 minute layover for a flight to Philadelphia, Terminal 3, is that enough time if we bring carry on luggage. Also, should we check a bag would that be enough time to transfer the bag from one airline to another. Travelers are 80 years old but in good shape.

Your flight from Key West will be on Silver Airways, not United. It would be difficult with a checked bag as it would be have to be transferred between airlines yourselves. Also, Silver isn't known for being on-time.

My other question was would they have to go through security again. Thank you for your feedback as I am not familiar with the airport and even the airport.

Yes, you will have to go through security again.

  • making a connection at FLL

On a saturday, we arrive from JFK to FLL on Jet blue which we think is typically concourse F, and have to make a connection on Silver Air to the bahamas (likely concourse c). If we are on time, we have 1 hour 45 minutes. Carry on bags, 4 adults. Can we make this? Even if we are 30 minutes late (typical from JFK) and should we walk or ride to get there? I'm unclear if we have to check in again at Silver Air. thanks!

It's possible. If it's one reservation JetBlue should issue your Silver boarding passes. You just have to go to Terminal 1 and through security.

thanks zap. do you think we should walk? or take the shuttle if we are short on time?

The shuttle goes all the way around the back way and then to the car rental center, from which you have to take a long walkway to T1. Without big bags, I think it's fastest to walk.

great. thanks. i assume you just exit the terminal, turn left and walk past all the other terminals?

Yes, that's how you do it.

  • PLS - MIA - DOH

Hello, I am arriving from Providenciales to MIA at 17:15 on an AA flight. Will I be able to safely connect to a QR flight departing 20:40 (3hr 25min layover) to Doha? Will I need to collect my luggage, clear customs and recheck? Not US citizens. Thank you.

Note that you posted this in the forum for Fort Lauderdale airport. Your question pertains to Miami International Airport. Yes, you have enough time. Yes, you will have to do all that.

  • Is customs line in Spirit terminal still a nightmare?

I just landed in MIA international, they eliminated the customs paper to hand, therefore the line that formed after retrieving the bags from the carrousel. Is this the same now in FLL's spirit terminal? That line was longer than the actual immigration line (passport stamp) hoep that is the case, is it?

  • Quito to FFL to EWR All with Jetblue

We are arriving FLL from UIO at 05:14 in terminal 4 and our connection flight to EWR departs at 07:11 (1 hour and 57 mins layover) from Terminal 3. We have checked bags. 1) do we have to collect our bags and clear customs in FLL? 2) do we have enough time to make the connection? Thanks for the help

Yes, you have to claim your bags to go through US customs in FLL. Yes, you should have enough time if the flight from Quito is on-time.

Thanks ZAP. In the event the flight from Quito is delayed would JetBlue rebook me on a later flight or do I have to buy another ticket. Not sure what the norm is. thanks.

JetBlue would rebook you on their next available flight. If you are willing to go to LaGuardia or JFK that may give you even more flexibility in being rebooked by them.

  • Clearing Customs & Immigration

I'm flying Jet Blue from Bahamas, it arrives at FLL at 12:35PM (Terminal 3). I'm thinking of catching a cheaper flight with Delta (Terminal 2) at 2:16PM back home. Do you think this is enough time to clear customs?

Are you coming from Nassau or Freeport or somewhere else in the Bahamas? Because if you're coming from Nassau or Freeport then you pre-clear US Immigration and customs there and don't have to in FLL. Do you have checked bags?

Thanks! Nassau. No I don't plan on checking any bags. I was able to change my flight so I have a 3 hour window to connect to my delta flight. Better to be safe than sorry!

So yeah, then all you have to do is walk from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 and go through security. You have plenty of time.

Arriving on Emirates from Dubai into FLL at 10:55a on Saturday, Term4; connecting to JetBlue to Cancun at 1:10p, Term3. One fit traveler, backpack only with Global Entry. Is this enough time to clear both International arrival then departure? Best way to get from Term4->3?

With Global Entry and no checked bags this should be enough time. Try to check in online for your JetBlue flight before leaving Dubai. Just walk to Terminal 3 - it's right next to 4.

Hi. I am arriving on Spirit from STT connecting to Emirates. Does any one know which Terminal Emirates departs from? and if the same terminal as Spirit does I need to go through security connecting? Many thanks.

Do you have checked bags? You will arrive in Terminal 3 and depart from Terminal 4.

Hello, I am arriving from IAH at FFL in Terminal 1 at 10:36AM on a Wednesday. I have a connecting flight from FFL to HAV (Cuba) in Terminal 3 at 12:14PM. Is this enough time to clear security at Terminal 3, or should I plan to stay the night? NO checked bags, carry on only. Thanks!

With no checked bags that's possible if you are able to check in online for your second flight and the first flight is on-time.

Thanks! Would getting the fast access upgrade through security be worth it and save valuable time?

It will certainly help. I can't definitely say whether it will be "worth it" or not though.
