  • BCN - FRA - JHB (Gate C72 to Z66)
    May 29, 2015

We are scheduled to fly in from Barcelona to FRA (Gate C72)landing at 21h00. We depart from Gate Z66 at 22h05. Our luggage ischeckedthrough BCN to JHB, but will we have enough time to clear security & emigration and still make it to Gate Z66?

That should be barely enough time, but it leaves very little to spare.

  • Arr T2 from LAX - Dep T1 - Luggage

Please help. We arrive from LAX in Terminal 2, and depart Terminal 1 with 2-1/2 hr layover. Our luggage will not transfer airlines. What procedure do we follow for customs & luggage, & how to we get from one terminal to the other.

Assuming your flight into Terminal 2 is from a foreign county that is not Canada, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, and then Exit Terminal 2, go left (against the flow of traffic). The next building you come to will be Terminal 1. You will then go inside and re-check your bags with Southwest and go through security. Check in online 24 hours before your Southwest flight for a better seating priority. You should have enough time.

Thank you for your help. By the way, we are flying from the US on American Airlines (T2), and flying out using Lufthansa (T1). Are the terminals extremely far apart in Frankfurt (that is, easily walkable)?

Sorry, I thought you were connecting at LAX. Disregard what I said. Terminals 1 and 2 at Frankfurt are connected inside security by a train and outside security by a shuttle bus. You will arrive in Terminal 2. GO through Schengen Passport control, claim your luggage, and exit customs. Then take the shuttle bus to Terminal 1 and re-check your baggage with Lufthansa.

Excellent revision. Thank you and I look forward to smooth sailing through Frankfurt.

  • BCN- FRA- ORD Lufthansa 55 minute layover
    May 28, 2015

Hi, I am curious if 55 minutes will be enough time on a layover from BCN to ORD. From my understanding, in reading through these posts, since I am coming from Barcelona, I will not have to go through passport control. Since this is all Lufthansa, my checked baggage should go all the way to Chicago. Will 55 minutes be enough time to make this connection? Thanks in advance!

You will have to go through Schengen exit passport control, but that's a few second formality. It is enough time, but Frankfurt is a big airport and you may have to run to make it on-time.

  • Terminal 1 Gate Z50 to Gate C13 connection
    May 27, 2015

It appears that Gate Z50 and Gate C13 are in Terminal 1 as per the map. How can I change gates from Z50 to C13? Do I have to take Skyline train? Would 2 hour layover be enough? Thanks!

Just follow the signs is the best word of advice for FRA. 2 hours should be enough time.

Hi, am flying to Algiers from Aberdeen through Frankfurt with only 70 minutes leeway would that be enough, both flights arrive and depart terminal 1, could someone please help as I have never flown from Frankfurt thank you

You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate and through security. Since you are not entering the Schengen Area you won't have to go through passport control. The Aberdeen flight will definitely use a bus to board and the Algiers flight may use one. It's possible, but it doesn't leave much time to spare for delays.

Thank you Zapp, would there be a way to expedite our transfer? I have just had an operation and running will be the last thing on my mind lol

You can request wheelchair service if you think you need it. Other than that, sit as far forward on the first flight as you can. Not much else you can do.

  • Connection flight

Hello flying to Bangkok via Fra, transfer from LH 1029 to TG in separate tickets, 2.55 hours connection, do I have enough time? What services do I need go through. I'm first time in Fra. Lilte nervous. Please help. Thanks.

Difficult but not impossible considering you have 3 hours. Since both airlines are in Star Alliance there's a chance you can get the Lufthansa agent in your origin city to check your bags through to Thai. Then all you would have to do in Frankfurt is find the Thai transfer desk and get your boarding passes. Otherwise you will have to go through Schengen passport control, claim your bags, take them to the Thai check in desk, go through Schengen exit passport control, and security.

  • AC 874 arrival gate ?, which gate to get to AC9497=LH284 ?

I am ignorant ot the process of gate connections at FRA. USA citizen from AC874 going on to BLQ via AC9497=LH284. I will have 1.25 hr between. Bags checked thru to BLQ, Where do I go? Passport Control ?? then which gate for AC9497=LH284 short haul to BLQ. Thanks for your help, I need it!

Yes, in Frankfurt you will go through Schengen passport control, enter the Schengen pier of the terminal where your flight to Bologna will depart, and then likely take a bus to your plane from the departure gate. You should have enough time.

Thanks, that is the kind of good info we can't get from a travel agent. grazie mille.

  • 45 min connection time

Looking at booking BHX-FRA-VRN flight with lufthansa and it says a 45 min connection at FRA. I imagine this is doable as its sold as one ticket, but it seems very tight. Is this sufficient time?

It is very tight. You will have to go through Schengen Passport control and there's a good chance both flights will uses buses to connect them to the terminal.

  • Connection between Lufthansa & Singapore Air

I have a Lufthansa flight from Amsterdam arriving in Frankfurt at 8.45pm & need to catch a connecting flight with Singapore Airlines at 9.55 will I have enough time as long as flight is on time.

Yes, that should barely be enough time if your first flight is on-time and your bags are checked through to Singapore.

Thats impossible, FRA is a nightmare

Arrive on LH6911 at 8.25 (bus transfer) B1 - departure LH6676 9.20 probably B42 or B45. I have both flights on one ticket. Is there enough time?

Please note that LH6911 is actually Adria flight 116 and LH6676 is actually Air Canada flight 873. This is a difficult transfer but should be possible. It is helped by not entering the Schengen Area and thus not having to go through passport control.

  • LAX to NCE w/Connection in FRA
    May 15, 2015

I have a 70 min connection between landing at Frankfurt and taking off for Nice France. Assuming will have to clear passport control. Flights LH457 (LAX-FRA) - LH 1060(FRA-NCE). Is 70 min enough time to make the flight?

That should be barely enough time.

Thanks ZAP. That was what I thought as well. A simple transfer (w/o passport control) would be a stretch. Can only hope the flight lands early.

  • Connection between Terminal 2 and terminal one
    May 14, 2015

I am reaching Frankfurt from Chennai by Srilankan air. Arrival is at Terminal 2 at 7:30Hrs.. I have to catch another flight to Vienna by Austrian Air which is scheduled to depart from Terminal 1 at 09:50 hrs. I have about 2 hrs 30 minutes. Do this time is sufficient for me to clear Shen gen passport control and Baggage claim and transfer to Terminal 1. How to reach Terminal one from Terminal 2? how long it takes. Kindly help me

There is a people mover between terminal 1 and 2. However, the only airline that flies nonstop between Frankfurt and Chennai is Lufthansa. If your flight is nonstop it will be on Lufthansa and arrive in Terminal 1.

  • 65 min layover FRA (Stockholm-FRA-Boston)
    May 10, 2015

Me and my sister are going from Stockholm to Boston through FRA. We have 65 minutes to transfer from the flight from Stockholm to the flight bound for Boston. Will 65 minutes be enough (we are trasveling on a Friday afternoon)? I guess we are heading from the 1A area to the 1Z area? I recently missed a connecting flight in Oslo and don't want that to happen with this upcoming flight...

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Bucharest to Lisbon through Frankfurt
    May 6, 2015
    2
I am flying from Bucharest to Lisbon and few day later back to Bucharest through Frankfurt. All the flights for both trips are Lufthansa. For the travel Bucharest to Lisbon, I will have a layover time of 1h 35 min on FRA and for the travel Lisbon to Bucharest a layover of 2hrs in FRA. Are they enough (considering also the Schengen area check)?

Yes, those layovers should be sufficient.

    Thanks.

  • 50' layover on Frankfurt
    May 4, 2015
    2
I need to go from Lisbon to Bucharest (both are in EU area). I found a variant in which I can fly from Lisbon to Frankfurt and from here I am having the next one to Bucharest. Both flights are Lufthansa. Are 50' enough time between the flights or is it too tight for Frankfurt airport?

Bucharest is NOT in the Schengen Area. 50 minutes is barely enough time. You will have to go through Schengen exit passport control in Frankfurt.

Hi, Thank you for the info. I've managed to find some alternatives - for the travel Bucharest to Lisbon, I will have a layover time of 1h 35 min on FRA and for the travel Lisbon to Bucharest a layover of 2hrs in FRA. Are they enough (considering also the Schengen area check)?
