I am arriving from Chennai India by LH759 ( 0.750hrs arrival frankfurt time) and need to catch LH 5290 at 10.45 a Frankfurt time. Will I have sufficient time? Do I need to recheckin my baggage? Do I need to go through immigaration?

    1. Lufthansa uses Concourses A & B with corresponding gates. On arrival at Frankfurt you need to go through passport check and may have to pick up your bag, go through customs clearance, & re-check-in your bag where indicated. The overhead screens on arrival will indicate your connecting flight number and gate. Pier A gates are now divided into left-side gates A1-42 and right-side gates A50-69; (note: A gates are on lower level; Z gates are on upper level. Pier B, gates B1-B63: a transfer tunnel near B19 connects to A & Z gates; the SkyLine train near B-8 connects to E & D gates of Terminal 2. Pier Z (on upper level of Pier A) is divided into gates Z11-25 (left) and Z50-69 (right) - accessible from the Tunnel connecting A, Z & B. You have plenty of time to eat or shop. NOTE. if continuing your flight to the US, you would have to go through US immigration/customs clearance procedure on arrival.

  • 10 hours connection time
    Dec 25, 2012
I arrive at 9:45 am from SFO with United first class. I have almost 10 hours connection time. What are my options to spend that much time? in airport or out? Thanks

    1. I suggest you pick up some brochures about the City of Frankfurt at the Information Booths in either Terminal and take the train (at Terminal 1) into the City. Frankfurt has many interesting things to see and its nightlife, hotels and restaurants can meet every taste and budget. 2. For detailed Frankfurt information open 3. arriving in fra z66 gate only have 45 mins to get to b27 gate do i need to go thru passport control and how do i get to b gate?

    1. You arrive & depart from Terminal 1 of FRA - U.S. Arrivals are being processed at Area A where they go through passport control only; If you need to transfer inside Terminal 1 between B gates (T1B) and A or Z gates, on upper/lower levels, (T1A), you can use transfer tunnel outside security, or the SkyLine train inside security, which leaves every 2-3 mins. (To connect from level 1 baggage claim A, B & C to E & D, use the shuttle bus outside.) No time to waist!

  • Help Getting to my gate if short on time
    Dec 2, 2012
I am arriving from Ottawa at 6;45 and have a connecting flight to Rome at 7:35. Will there be those golf carts around to help me get to my gate on time?

That depends on if your incoming Airline to FRA will transfer your bags to your connecting flight; if not, you would have to take your bags & check them in with your next connecting airline. Note: (a) If you do not yet have a boarding card for your connecting flight, you can obtain one at the gate or at the Transfer Desk in the B Concourse of Terminal 1. 2. U.S. Arrivals are being processed at Area A where they go through passport control only. 3. If you need to transfer inside Terminal 1, between B gates (T1B) and A or Z gates (T1A), you can use transfer tunnel outside security, or the SkyLine train inside security, which leaves every 2-3 mins. An escalator from lower level A gates connects to upper level Z gates. 4. If you need to transfer between the two terminals, use the free SkyLine train which connects - inside the secured area - A & B gates & stops between D & E gates, and comes around every two minutes. To get from level 1 baggage claim A, B & C, to E & D, use the shuttle bus outside. 4. Carts are free at the inspection areas; and available inside & outside of baggage claim level. You have no time to waste!

Hi, we will be arriving in FRA from Canada and have a connecting flight to Athens on Lufthansa. The time between flights is only 1 hour and 55 minutes. Will that be enough time to clear passport control and not miss our flight?

  • Gate A to Gate B

What is the normal/average travel time taking the tunnel from Gate A to Gate B in Terminal 1. At what Gate A number is access to the tunnel, which ends I believe at B19.

arr at 8:00 connecting flt at 8:55 is there enough time?

At FRA you will arrive at Area A of Terminal 1 (for members of the Star Alliance, incl. Lufthansa) for passport control & customs clearance; if you continue your flight on Lufthansa it will either use Pier A or Pier B gates of the same terminal (a tunnel connects between the A, Z & B gates and the SkyLine train near gate B-8 connects to E & D gates of Terminal 2 & runs every 2 mins. T2 serves mainly non-Star Alliance airlines. Your time is tight, but should suffice.

  • Making Our Connection
    Nov 4, 2012
We are arriving from SFO around 11:20 am at 1A Term 1 Hall A then leaving for Venice around 13:20 from 1 Hall AB 260-338 Gate A. First time out of the USA via airplane. How far of a walk do we have to make our connection? Do we need to clear customs? Thank you to everyone in advance for your help

On arrival at Frankfurt Airport, which is well marked & easy to navigate, all arriving U.S. flights are handled at Area A; after customs clearance, you can take the tunnel to the your connecting B gates, arriving near gate B19 (B gates are B1-63). You have plenty of time.

Arriving on Nov 15th on Air Canada AC876 (11:45) Departing on Lufthansa LH756 at 13:10. Arrive at Terminal 1C. Where would the flight to Mumbai likely depart from? Will we have to hurry?

You may arrive at either at either 1C or 1A (the 1A extension has just been completed and soon (or already) will handle all incoming US flights at area A. Lufthansa uses both Piers A & B of Terminal 1. If you need to change over from A to B you can use the tunnel; at C gates use the directional signs. Your time is adequate.

    Thanks for the info....

  • Enough connection time?
    Nov 1, 2012
Arriving Dec. 2 on LH445 at 8:40AM and leaving on LH1150 to Malaga at 9:45AM. Will I have enough time to go thru immigration and security and get to gate to make Malaga flight. I believe luggage will transfer to connecting without me needing to handle in Frankfort - correct?

AT Frankfurt Airport, Lufthansa uses both Concourses A & B of Terminal 1. All incoming flights from the U.S. are being handled at Area A. To connect between B & A gates use either the the transfer tunnel at pre-security, or the SkyLine train inside security, which runs every 2-3 mins. Your bags will be transferred to your connecting flight. You have enough time.

  • Pier A+ not in the map?
    Oct 28, 2012
why is concourse A+ not in the map? Its an additional pier, not just integrated into A (like you did). The whole pier is missing in the drawings....

Concourse A is on the ifly map: see; and the text under the map does refer to A+ opening. However, the person charged with maps has not yet had a chance to make the change (overwhelmed by so many Airport around the world adding new terminals, etc.) I see from Frankfurt AP map that Concourse A now branches into to arms, one with gates A1-42 & another (A+) with gates 50-69).

  • Visa Requirements
    Oct 22, 2012
Hi, We are family of 5 from India. We are Coming to Frankfurt via LH 761 and from Frankfurt to IAD via LH 416. We have about couple of hrs before boaring our connecting flight I have couple of queries since this is our 1st trip overseas (1) Do we need a German visa. (2) Do we need to collect our checked bags and drop them back at the Check In again. (3) Do we need to pas through immigration and is this time sufficient. Thanks in anticipation.

Frankfurt Airport is well-managed with international signs guiding you. Your arrival and departure will be from the same Terminal 1; however Lufthansa uses both Concourses A & B with corresponding gates. Your ticket and the overhead screens on arrival will indicate flight number, gate & departure time. As you only use one Airline for both legs of your journey, your bags will automatically be transferred to the connecting flight. All you need to do is follow the "non-Schengen" (foreign) passport-check line. As long as you stay within the secured area (after security checkpoint) you can eat or shop (as time allows); then - if needed - take the SkyLine Train running every 2-3 minutes and stopping between Concourses A & B.

Appreciated, I am also coming back via LH419 and LH760 en-route to delhi & have about 5 and a half hrs stoppage Are duty free shops within the security checkpoints.

  • Worried about timing
    Oct 22, 2012
Will be arriving from Istanbul on Lufthansa at 4:10 pm on Feb 25th and departing via Air Canada to Toronto at 5 pm - do I have enough time??What happens if I miss my connection? (connections made by a travel agent)

You arrive & depart from Terminal 1 of FRA Airport; while Lufthansa uses both Concourses A & B, Air Canada uses Concourse C. The Skyline train connects these concourses, running every few mins.

Hi. I am coming from Venice, Italy on UA9058 arriving at 11:55am in FRA. My flight from FRA on UA8827 to Washington, Dulles leaves at 1pm which gives me about an hour to transfer gates. Will I have to pass through customs? Will I have enough time to make it to my gate?

You arrive and depart at Frankfurt Airport in Terminal 1 - Concourse B (B gates B1-63).
