Gaborone Seretse Khama International GBE Airport Overview

Gaborone Seretse Khama International Airport GBE is Botswana's primary airport and a major gateway to international tourism. Botswana can be broken down into six separate regions, each of which is a popular tourist destination: the Southern Region, the Moremi and Okavango Region, the Chobe Region, the Kgalagadi Region, the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans Region, and the Eastern and Central Region.

The Airport is located 15 km north of Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana, in the center of southern Africa (Location coordinates: 24 32.21 S 025 55.08 E). The Civil Aviaton Authority of Botswana is the Airport's operator. 

With 4,000 meter long runway, Gaborone Seretse Khama Airport is served by Air Botswana(tel. 339 1921) offering scheduled domestic flights from Gaborone to Francistown, Harare, Johannesburg, Kasane & Maun. Currently Air Botswana and South African Airways Express Charter Operators offer domestic connections as well as flights to South Africa and Zimbabwe. Charter operators are KASAC, NAC, and Flying Mission serve the Southern Africa region. South African Express (tel. 309 5740) flies both to Cape Town & Johannesburg.

NOTE:
1. While there is are no direct flights available into Botswana from the North American Continent, those travelers should opt for Maun Airport farther to the North, which offers a better connection from Johannesburg Airport. 
2. While customs has considerably improved - showing the address where you are staying will speed up matters.

The passenger terminal at Seretse Khama Airport is new and airy : Facilities includes luggage storage, luggage wrap, bank, currency exchange, two snack bars, post office, duty-free shop, craft & book shop, a CIP Loune by Air Botswana in the International Departure lounge,  and rental cars (Avis, Budget & Imperial - note left-side driving in Botswana!).  As to immigration procedures - they have considerably improved along with the new terminal.!

To get from Gaborone Airport to your destination, you can rent a car, take a taxi (call cabs) or use one of the hotel courtesy shuttle buses. No public transportation is available at the Airport.
