Hi, I am flying with Lufthansa from London Heathrow, arriving IAH Gate E at 17.45, departing for Guatemala with United Airlines at 19.42, Gate C. Will I have to collect my baggage and go through security, or just go through security, and do I have enough time? I booked through a travel agent and they are not helping me with answers to these questions. I only have an e-ticket and don't have any information regarding check-in! How do I confirm my flights? And when I am in Guatemala, how do I confirm a flight if I am out of wifi access?

Please note that both flights will be on United. You will both arrive and depart from Terminal E. You will go through US Immigration, customs, and security but you should not have to claim your bags since you are on an International to International connection through IAH all on United. You do not have to "reconfirm" flights. For your return flight just show up to the airport in Guatemala City 3 hours before your flight.

Really? Thank you so much. My travel agent STILL has not got back to me about this... fast to take my money, not so fast to be helpful. I will never book with an agent again, always go direct to airlines. I am bit concerned because my e-ticket says my flight is with Lufthansa - what do they call it when that happens? SO if I ring UA they tell me I have to ring Lufthansa! The e-ticket I have talks about terminals C and E - hence the query. I have no check-in information yet - bit worried to be honest, I have discovered, since booking my tickets, that this travel agent has a tendency to book flights that don't materialise! ie not really booked... :( Thank you for your very swift response. Guess I will have one more chance to try tomorrow, and then I will be in trouble if nothing pans out.

  • Port of Spain to Calgary

Good day, I am traveling to Calgary from Port of Spain with a stop over in Houston. I booked my flight with United but the flight from Houston to Calgary is being operated by Air Canada? Will I need to collect my bags and go through customs with them and the drop them off?

On International to International connections on United through Houston, but I'm not sure what happens if the outbound flight is operated by a codeshare partner and frankly, you won't get a straight and knowledgeable answer on that by either United or Air Canada.

  • Delayed baggage

When flying in to Houston our baggage was delayed. British Airways could now tell us that our baggage has arrived at the Houston Airport. When we call the United Airline Baggage Resolution Center, the automatic voice tells us that the baggage is out for delivery. But the online tracker says they haven't got our baggage yet. Is there anyone to call who can let us know what's going on? When can we expect out baggage?

You can call British airlines about it or find the number for that company's lost baggage center.

Hi I'm flying from Phl to iah -iah to mbj will I have to pay fir baggage again or will it go straight to mbj ??

You will not have to pay for your baggage again in Houston. It will go straight to Montego Bay, assuming both flights are on the same reservation.

I have flight from Calgary to Huston, Huston to Doha and Doha to Ahmadabad. Do I have to pick up luggage in Huston for custom or it will straight to go to Ahmadabad India? Same coming back have flight from Ahmadabad- Dona- Huston- Calgary. Do I have to p/u luggage in Huston or will go straight to Calgary?

What airlines are you flying? Are all tickets on the same reservation? On your flight from Calgary to Houston you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary.

From Calgary via westjet nd Qatar from Huston. And coming back Qatar upto Huston nd westjet from Huston to Calgary.

As I said, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. If your bags are tagged through to Ahmedabad then all you have to do in Houston is take the Skyway train from your arrival gate in Terminal A to your departure gate in Terminal D. On the return you will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security.

My husband will have about two and a half hours in Huston coming back do you think it's enough for us custom nd immigration to get connecting flight for Calgary?

Yes, that should be just enough time if everything goes perfectly.

we are flying air newzealand from Perth au to Houston we arrive at 12.49pm on sunday 24th april we need to book a flight to Panama there is one departing at 3.35 will that be enough time to go through immigration and get baggage or should we do a stop over and whats the cheapest best direct flight. thanks a million

The 3:35 PM flight would probably work. Although a Stopover wouldn't be a bad idea, just to get some rest.

  • United Airlines - International Transit at IAH

Am flying with UA from London Heathrow to Managua (Nicaragua) via Houston at the end of April, returning on 26 May. Booked through to Managua on one ticket, so assume that we won't see our baggage between check-in at Heathrow and the carousel at Managua? I understand that the flight from London will land in Houston at Terminal E, and that the flight to Managua will depart also from Terminal E. The time between ETA and ETD in both directions is just over 3 hours. Have got our ESTA. As we are arriving and departing from the same Terminal at Houston are we likely to encounter any 'time' delays between entering the Arrivals Terminal and getting airside into the Departure Terminal? Grateful for any recent experience or insider knowledge.

You will have to go through "Onestop" US Immigration and Customs and then Security in Houston. You have plenty of time.

    Excellent, thanks.

Hi, coming from Tokyo and transit at Denver to catch a connecting flight to New Orleans. Do I need to check out my luggage? I realised I only have 90 mins in between and am concern if I could make the connecting flights. Thanks for advise.

Are you flying Tokyo->IAH or Tokyo->Denver? Yes, you will have to claim your bags to go through US Customs, then re-check them at the re-check desk at the point which you enter the US.

  • What do i have to do?

I'am flying ''United'' from DFW to IAH, and then from IAH to IST with Turkish Airlines. Flights were booked from two different sites, on two different days.Am i gonna have to claim my bag at IAH and recheck on my way to Turkey? If yes how much time is needed to do so?

Yes, if you purchased two separate tickets you will have to claim your bags in your arrival terminal B or C, and then take them to Terminal D to re-check with Turkish. I recommend at least 2.5 hours for your transfer.

  • Toronto to Mexico via Houston

Hi We are a group of 14 flying United from Toronto to Mexico with a 1 hour layover in Houston. Some of us will be checking baggage. Do we have to pick it up in Houston? Also, do you know what terminals we will be flying into and out of? Thanks!

You will not have to do anything with your bags in Houston. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. If your flight from Toronto is operated by Air Canada you will arrive in Terminal A. If it is operated by United Express it will arrive in Terminal B or C. Your flight to Mexico will depart from Terminal B or E. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security. You should have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

My mom was in such a rush to catch her flight that she forgot to claim her luggage and is now in LAX what can we do to get her luggage?

Contact her airline's lost baggage line or if you live near LAX, go to her airline's baggage office at LAX.

Hi I am flying from New Orleans to Cancun via Houston on United with 45 minute layover in Houston. • Checked bags from Lagos to Lousville via Houston on United

Is it true that I no longer have to claim my bags in Houston coming from Lagos, Nigeria on my way to Louisville, KY on United? That I only pickup my bags at my final destination? Kindly confirm.

That is incorrect. You have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags, and go through security in Houston. People on International to International connections through Houston on United no longer have to claim their bags. However as you know LOS-IAH-SDF is International to Domestic.

  • Is there a place to leave luggage for the night?
    Nov 5, 2014

Hy, I'm flying from Montreal landing in Houston Friday Nov 7. I have a 24 jours lay over and I am wondering if there is a service at the airport where I can leave my bags for the night so I don't have to bring them downtown where I am spending the night. If so what is the cost and where do I locate this service at the airport? Thank you

There are no baggage storage facilities at the airport for security reasons. You will have to bring it with you to your hotel.

well I'm staying with some people and do not hope to carry my 2 bags on the bus. Is there any way I might leave them at one hotel or any other place? I have to roam in the city a few hours before going to my hosts. Thanks

  • how to make the transfer

Hi Im arriving from mexico city to HIA in aeromexico to take a connection flight in turkish airlines to istambul , i have 3 hours between flights is that enought to go throught custums, get out of security go to counters of turkish airlines and get my ticket to the secund flight all the tickets are in a single E ticket so is the airlines in mexico supposed to give me all the tickets and i just go to recheking or do i really have to get out of security and go to the counters

IAH has a system where passengers on a single international->international itinerary often do not have to claim their baggage to go through US Customs. However, Aeromexico does not connect many passenger at IAH so they may not know about it. However, they will tag your bag through to IST. You likely will not have to claim it in IAH, but if you do you should be able to re-check it immediately after clearing customs. You will then still have to go through security. I'm not sure if Aeromexico will be able to issue your Turkish boarding passes as they are not in the same alliance. If they can't you will have to go to the Turkish counter anyway before going through security. Everything will be in Terminal D. You should have enough time, even if you have to do all those things, but you will have very little time to spare.
