  • Time through customs
    Sep 3, 2015
Hi- I am a US citizen and I will be returning to the the US through IAH (Houston George Bush) from MGA (Managua) on a Sunday evening. The layover time is 1 hour 10 min. Is that enough time to go through customs and make my connecting flight? The only other option is a 5 hour layover, but maybe that is the safer choice. Thanks for your help.

No, 1 hr 10 minutes is not possible for International to domestic at IAH.

  • layover to Aguascalientes

I'm trying to book a flight from DC to Aguascalientes. Is 33 Minutes enough time to catch the flight to Aguascalientes.

It's theoretically possible, but leaves absolutely no room for any delays or holdups.

  • Exit airport when transiting IAH?

    Yes, you can.

I am traveling with Spirit from Orlando to San Salvador (El Salvador) with a layover in IAH. My friends from Houston want to meet me at the airport during the layover. Where could we meet inside the airport? Is there a terminal that has restaurants before security? Thanks

I'd meet in the baggage claim of Terminal A where you will arrive. the only restaurants other than coffee kiosks outside security at the airport are in the airport Marriott Hotel.

  • ORD to IAH to MGA

Hi, I am hoping someone can put my mind at rest regarding connection times. I am a UK citizen flying from chicago to Houston, arriving at terminal C. I then fly from Houston to Managua. Both flights are United Airlines. I arrive in IAH at 10.40 and depart at 12.31. Will I need to collect and re-check luggage? Will this be sufficient time. Many Thanks

No, you do not have to do anything with your baggage in Houston. There is no US Customs when exiting the United States. All you have to do in Houston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time.

  • Enough time between flight
    Jul 29, 2015
I plan traveling fromI AD to San Jose,Costa Rica through Houston Both flights will be United AirLine, I have 1 hour between flights Is it enough time to catch flight?

Yes, all you have to do in Houston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If your first flight is on-time that should be enough time.

  • Enough time to clear customs and connect?
    Jul 27, 2015
Hello, I'm a UK resident (German citizen), and I'm planning to fly from BHX (via FRA via IAH) to ICT. Would a 1.53h layover in Houston be enough time for me to clear customs and immigration, etc, to make my connection to Wichita? Thanks very much!

Yes, that should be enough time if your flight from FRA is on-time.

  • 40 mins connection time enough to get from Terminal C to Terminal E
    Jul 23, 2015
Hi there I have a return flight on 15-Aug from Aruba landing at IAH at 20:10 (Terminal C) and my next flight departing IAH to UK at 20:50 from IAH Terminal E. I'm concerned I may not make this latter flight. Will I have enough time? Do I have to go through security? What is the fastest way to get from Terminal C to E. Any help will be most appreciated.

You can just walk from C to E. You should barely have enough time if your flight from Aruba is on-time. Just follow the signs. You do not have to go through security.

  • international flight layover question
    Jul 16, 2015
I am trying to book on united from Cancun, Mexico to Portland, OR (through Houston). The layover in Houston is only 1 hour and 12 minutes. Is this enough time to make my connection?

On the way to Portland, no, that isn't enough time. The minimum is 90 minutes.

  • Is 35 min layover doable?
    Jul 11, 2015
I am flying on July 18 from Tucson to Charleston SC with a layover in Houston. My layover is only 35 min long, but both flights are with United. Will I have enough time to make my connecting flight?

Yes, that is enough time if your first flight is on-time. There's a good chance both flights will be in Terminal B. It obviously doesn't leave much time to spare if your flight from Tucson is late.

  • STL to GIG
    Jul 7, 2015
Hello. I'm an American citizen considering purchasing a flight from STL, with a one hour layover in IAH then on to Rio De Janeiro; however, there's only a one hour layover. Will I potentially have enough time to clear customs and make the transfer?

You do not go through US Customs on your way out of the United States. All you have to do in Houston on your way to Rio is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

  • Connection Time
    Jul 6, 2015
Hi, I have a United flight from Miami MIA to New Orleans MSY with a stop over in IAH, the connection time is now only 49 minutes due to our flight times being changed twice, should the 49 minutes be enough time? We are worrying because it's a late flight (leave MIA at 18.50, arriving at IAH at 20.26 and flying out to MYS at 21.15) also the flight from IAH to MSY is operated by Skywest Airlines not United, I don't know if this will make a difference, can anyone give me some advice?

All gates in Houston are connected inside security. There's a good chance both flights will be in Terminal C, but if you have to change terminals the TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security. You should have enough time as long as your first flight is on-time.

  • Checking in luggage from an international flight
    Jul 5, 2015
I am flying into Houston airport from Germany with an hour and a half layover for a domestic connection. I am checking in luggage. When I claim the baggge do I have to check it in at the regular United Airlines counter or is there a counter specific to those on a layover? Thanks in advance

Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the transfer desk immediately after, then go through security and to your departure gate.

  • Can I leave and come back?
    Jun 29, 2015
Hello, I have a six hour layover and I wanted to know if I am allowed to leave the airport to have lunch with some friends and then check back in before my flight?

Yes, you are allowed to leave the airport. There is nobody guarding the door.

  • 2 hr 35m layover - do i have enough time
    Jun 11, 2015
I fly out tomorrow from Quretarro Mexico landing at IAH with a 2 hr 35minute layover then flying to Toronto Canada. Will i need ot pick up by bags and have them rechecked.. If so do i do this before or after customs? Will my layover be long enough?

Since you are on an International to International connection you should not have to claim your bags in Houston, but confirm that with agents in Queretaro and Houston. You will go through US Immigration, Customs, and security. You should have plenty of time.
