flying with United, to YYZ fro africa i have only canadian visa, can i still fly united

If you are a citizen of an African country you will have to get a transit visa to transit the US, even if you have a Canadian visa (or even if you are a Canadian permanent resident). So no, unless you can get a US Transit Visa, you can't take that flight.

I arrive after 11pm to IAH & depart the next day at 1 pm. Where should I stay that will be economical and not require expensive taxi rides. Would uber be better? Any place close (nature wise) I can wander outside the next morning near a hotel?

The airport isn't really in a place abounding with nature. It's in an industrial suburban area. There are a lot of airport hotels near the airport that offer free shuttles. Just stay at one of those.

I am flying from Frankfurt to Houston I have a 1h35 layover to make it to the next flight which to Panama City, is that enough time?, Do i have to go through customs? and then re-do security ? ... :S

You will have to go through US Immigration, customs, and security. However, since you are on an International to International connection you shouldn't have to claim your bags. You should have barely enough time. This is assuming you are going to Panama City, Panama, not Panama City, Florida.

I have a 1h 35 min layover at IAH arriving from Toronto is that enough time to connect to my air NZ flight to Auckland

Assuming both tickets are on the same reservation yes that is enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.

  • 39 Minute Layover to International Flight

Hello, I have a layover of 39 minutes in Houston this weekend coming from Newark and heading to Belize City. I have to transfer terminals and will have both checked bags and carry ons. Is this going to be a difficult transfer?

It's possible if the flight from Newark is on-time. Obviously it leaves you no time to spare if the flight from Newark is delayed at all. All gates in Houston are connected inside security.

  • Layover Vancouver to Guatemala City

I'm flying from Vancouver Canada to Guatemala City with a 9 hour layover in Houston u was wondering if I am allowed to go out into the city? Thanks.

Yes, you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Vancouver and then after you land you will be free to go where you want in the US while you are there. However, it's a long ride into the city from the Houston airport and there's not much to see when you get there.

I'm flying Miami - Houston - Auckland, so domestic to international, with a seven hour layover at IAH. Will I be able to leave the airport and go into the city, even if my bags have been checked through?

Yes, you can, but it's a long ride into the city and there's not much to see there. I so don't know if I'd really recommend it.

  • 1 hr 22 min layover in IAH to NYC from Guadalajara MX

Im flying from Guadalajara to NYC with a connection flight in Houston by United. Wondering if I will have enough time to go through immigration and US Customs in time to get the flight to NYC? I got only 1 hr and 22 mins (assuming my flight arrives on time) Should I get my luggage and re-check it or does United do that for me? thanks!

In Houston you will arrive in Terminal D or E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security, and to your departure gate, likely in Terminal C. The minimum International to Domestic connection time in Houston is 90 minutes. I recommend 2 hours. I would try to get a longer connection.

Thank you! I don't think I can get a longer layout :( I just wonder why the airline offers this connection flights when you can barely make it and in most situations you will lose the flight. So, if I lose my flight would United send me on the next flight for free or they charge?

Yes, if you miss your connection United will rebook you on the next available flight. However, you really might want to call them or whoever booked this ticket, as this is an unallowably short connection which they are obligated to rebook.

  • Does IAH offer day-rooms for an 8 hour daytime layover?

Flying United, we arrive from Vancouver at 4 pm and leave for Brazil at 10 pm. Are day rooms available at the airport. If not, is it practical to stay at a hotel at/near the airport? Is the United business class lounge a comfortable alternative?

I would just go to the United lounge. It's not worth it to get a hotel room for such a short period of time. 4 PM to 10 PM is only 6 hours.

Thanks -- I mistakenly said arrival time is 4 pm; it is 1.30 pm

we will arrive Houston Geroge Bush airport at 1:15pm on 14th Jan 2016 by Air NZ, then take United Airline to Orlando at 4:00pm, is there sufficient time?

    That should be enough time.

thank you very much. What is the process once we arrive in houston, do we need to take the luddges through US immigration and customs, then recheck in at united airline to Orlando? i am so worried that there might be too rush and miss the next flight.

Yes, you will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your departure gate in Terminal C. You should have plenty of time.

Just wondering if there are any lounges or spots in Houston for overnight layover (12 hrs) - don't have money for hotel but wonder if there's other option besides sleeping at gate?! Thanks!

No, there are no overnight lounges but there are some good places - http://www.sleepinginairports.net/usa/houston.htm

I'll be Arriving at 1am - leaving at 8am - anything open at this hour? any recs?

Pretty much everything will be closed until around 4:30. You could go to a hotel, but it's probably not really worth it.

  • Nice restaurant for breakfast in Terminal C?

I'm arriving from SFO at 5:10am Saturday, and departing for Mexico at 11:38. My son is going to drive to Houston from Beaumont to have breakfast with me at the airport. What restaurant is nice and relaxing to hang out for a few hours? I guess I'll have to leave security and we'll meet in a public part of the airport.

Can my son who isn't flying get a Gate Pass to meet me at a restaurant in Terminal C?

    No, he can't.

I have a united flight that gets into Houston at 5:05pm and a united flight that leaves at 5:45pm, if I check my bags do i have to get them and re-check them, or does the airline handle that?

You do not have to do anything with your bags in Houston if the first flight is domestic. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.
