Can I leave the airport? Is it advised to do so or just camp it out in the airport? from 8am to 2pm

Yes, you can leave, however, it's a long expensive ride into the city and not much to see when you get there. So I suggest you just stay at the airport.

I am flying SNA to MID in June, with a 1 hour layover at IAH. The last time I made this trip the first leg was late and had to sprint through the airport and barely made it to the flight. Are flights out of California usually delayed? I would rather not repeat the experience. The other option is a 3 hour layover.

Delays on flights out of Southern California are very rare. Your plane was probably delayed getting to SNA.

I flight this year from Cancun to Frankfurt via IAH. I only have 1 Hour and 12 Minutes layover. All two flights are United Flights. Will I have enough time to get my flight to FRA?

No, that's well below the recommended international to international connection time at IAH.

Ok thank you so much! :)

I am headed to Costa Rica from Philippines and I have a C1-Visa however I do have a ticket with a 13 hours layover at LAX can I go out the airport?

Yes, once you clear US Immigration and Customs in LAX you will be outside security and can leave the airport as long as you show up for your next flight.

    Thank you for the response

I'm traveling from Boston to San Antonio with United. My layover is only 38 minutes in Houston. Is that enough time?

It's enough time if the flight from Boston is on-time.

grr to sjo with 47 minutes layover at iah. carry-on only. enough time? and how do I find out at what terminal I'll be arriving?

You'll arrive in Terminal B and depart from Terminal E. This is barely enough time if everything goes smoothly. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.

I'm traviling to mexico and have a layover in Houston of 1h 5min. Is it enough time. Also, in my comeback from mexico I have the same layover but this time is two hours. Help please!

Yes, both layovers are sufficient. There is no US Customs when exiting the US so all you have to do on your way to Mexico is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

    Thank you!

  • Transit to US airport

I intend to travel to Cancun Mexico from Asian country. All airlines always get transit in US airports, like IAH, in few hours to change a planes . Do I need to apply C1 visa for this transit , it's just 3-4 hours .

What is your citizenship? If it is a citizenship that requires a visa to visit the US, you need a transit visa to transit the US.

I'm holding Vietnam passport. I just change a plane at IAH and stay inside the airport. Thank you for your advise

Then yes, you will need a US Transit Visa.

    Thank you so much

  • Coming from Germany, layover in Houston, going to Mexico

Hi, I'm coming back to Mexico from Germany, and I have a layover in Houston for about 7 hours. Can I leave the airport, do some shopping, without problems?

Yes, once you clear US Customs after your flight from Germany you will be in the US and free to go where you want. Note however that anything you purchase must fit in and be legal to bring in your carry-on.

  • NZ traveler with 8 hours in transit

Hi there. I'm a NZ citizen flying back from Cancun to Auckland via IAH. I have an 8 hour transit time in Houston. Can I go out of the airport and do some tours or will I need to stay within the airport? If I can go out will I need to claim my luggage and go through immigration and then come back through the whole process of lodging my luggage? Also do any tours pick up from the airport? Thanks

Yes, you can leave the airport. Once you clear US Immigration and Customs in Houston after arrival from Cancun you will be in the US and outside security and free to go where you want. However, there's not a whole lot to see in Houston. It's not a very touristy city.

I am flying back to London from San Jose, Costa Rica via Hoiston. I have 2hrs 10 mins layover. Is this enough time? Both flights are with United so I'm guessing I don't need to collect bags in Houston. What's the procedure when I arrive at Houston? Is there a specific immigration queue for travellers with a connecting international flight? Thanks

You will go through Immigration, Customs, and security. I believe since you won't need to claim your bags you will be able to use the "one stop" line for passengers with no checked baggage, but you will have to ask about that.

Also you should have enough time.

  • Long enough layover?

I will be traveling from Denver to Belize with a 50 minute layover in Houston. If I check my bags, is this enough time for my bags to switch planes?

Yes, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Houston on your way to Belize. You just have to go from your arrival gate in C or E to your departure gate in E. They are connected inside security.

I was wondering I have a Risky connection flight layover time of 42 min. It says terminal change and plane change but it says we fly into Terminal B and fly out of Terminal B. Will this give us enough time to change?

That is enough time if your first flight is on-time. United Express uses Terminals A, B, and C in Houston. All terminals are connected inside security by the skyway train.

I am flying back from Belize on 2/16 and my flights were purchased for me. I only have 1 hour and 30 minute layover before going to Denver. I will not have checked luggage. Will this be enough time to get through customs and make my flight?

With no checked luggage, yes, I think you can make that connection.
