  • Coming from Germany, layover in Houston, going to Mexico

Hi, I'm coming back to Mexico from Germany, and I have a layover in Houston for about 7 hours. Can I leave the airport, do some shopping, without problems?

Yes, once you clear US Customs after your flight from Germany you will be in the US and free to go where you want. Note however that anything you purchase must fit in and be legal to bring in your carry-on.

  • NZ traveler with 8 hours in transit

Hi there. I'm a NZ citizen flying back from Cancun to Auckland via IAH. I have an 8 hour transit time in Houston. Can I go out of the airport and do some tours or will I need to stay within the airport? If I can go out will I need to claim my luggage and go through immigration and then come back through the whole process of lodging my luggage? Also do any tours pick up from the airport? Thanks

Yes, you can leave the airport. Once you clear US Immigration and Customs in Houston after arrival from Cancun you will be in the US and outside security and free to go where you want. However, there's not a whole lot to see in Houston. It's not a very touristy city.

I am flying back to London from San Jose, Costa Rica via Hoiston. I have 2hrs 10 mins layover. Is this enough time? Both flights are with United so I'm guessing I don't need to collect bags in Houston. What's the procedure when I arrive at Houston? Is there a specific immigration queue for travellers with a connecting international flight? Thanks

You will go through Immigration, Customs, and security. I believe since you won't need to claim your bags you will be able to use the "one stop" line for passengers with no checked baggage, but you will have to ask about that.

Also you should have enough time.

  • Long enough layover?

I will be traveling from Denver to Belize with a 50 minute layover in Houston. If I check my bags, is this enough time for my bags to switch planes?

Yes, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Houston on your way to Belize. You just have to go from your arrival gate in C or E to your departure gate in E. They are connected inside security.

I was wondering I have a Risky connection flight layover time of 42 min. It says terminal change and plane change but it says we fly into Terminal B and fly out of Terminal B. Will this give us enough time to change?

That is enough time if your first flight is on-time. United Express uses Terminals A, B, and C in Houston. All terminals are connected inside security by the skyway train.

I am flying back from Belize on 2/16 and my flights were purchased for me. I only have 1 hour and 30 minute layover before going to Denver. I will not have checked luggage. Will this be enough time to get through customs and make my flight?

With no checked luggage, yes, I think you can make that connection.

I am looking at a flight on Friday in June from HOB to PLS connecting in IAH. Is 50 minutes enough time and is the flight on Friday consistent? It shows I can book it so I hope it will not cancel.

50 minutes should be enough time if the flight from Hobbs is on-time. All terminals are connected inside security by the Skyway train.

Thank you. Any word on the IAH to PLS flight accuracy? Currently I can book ok a friday or Saturday

I don't know what you mean about "accuracy". If the flight is offered it will almost assuredly operate barring extreme weather.

I know that is not a normal route and kmow of instances where United will completely cancel a flight. I hate to book a flight and it get dropped. Thanks!

Incoming flight Air Canada, departing flight United Airlines; will I have access to any of the lounges? My tickets are both economy, and I would like to avoid a hotel. Arrival at 10:30PM, departure at 6:30AM.

The lounges close overnight. You will have to either get a hotel or sleep in the lobby.

  • United business class layover?

We will have a 5 hour layover starting at 4 p.m. Is the UA business class lounge the best place to be? Are there alternatives?

The Terminal E or C-South United Club would probably be the best place. IAH has 5 United Clubs.

flt from JFK to trinidad & tobago gets in IAH @ 10:39A & leaves for trinidad @1:17. will i have time to come out the airport to meet my friend in the parking lot?

    What airlines are you flying?

    United

United doesn't fly to or from JFK. Please double check your itinerary.

Sorry, I'm used to saying that.. Lol.. LGA

Yes, it is enough time if your first flight is on-time. You'll have to head back to security at about 11:45 or noon.

I have a layover for about 2 hrs, will I be able to leave the secured and go into the common areas to meet my family briefly since they can't go past the security check and into the gates

If your flight is on-time you would have a little time to do that.

  • 1 hour Layover in IAH to Merida, Mexico Enough time?

I have an hour layover from IAH to Merida, Mexico. Will I have enough time to catch my international flight?

Assuming your first flight is domestic, yes, that should be enough time. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security and you just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I would like to meet friend that has very short layover at IAH. She arrives at 3:56 PM on United and leaves at 5:45 on United. Is there anywhere I could meet her that would be easy for her to make her connecting flight?

Is she arriving on an international or domestic flight.

Hello, I have 1 hour 11 minutes to connect from my flight frpm Frankfurt Germany to the next flight to Las Vegas. Will I make it?

No, the bare minimum international to domestic connection time in Houston is 90 minutes, with 2 hours recommended. Contact whomever booked your ticket to be rebooked.

Hi, we are arriving at IAH at 7 pm, staying with friends for our overnight layover and then departing again at 11:30 the next day. Is it possible for me to collect our checked bags from the carousel when we arrive and then immediately re-check them for the onward flight with United to Costa RIca for the next mornings flight, saving us from having to drag the big luggage to our friends for the night.

No, you will have to take them with you. You won't be allowed to re-check them until the next morning.
