I am flying through Houston January 2nd. I am coming from HSV with a 85 minute connection to Frankfurt. Will I be able to check my bags all the way in HSV? or will I have to claim them and re check them. Will this be enough time?

Your bags will go directly to Frankfurt. You have plenty of time. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate in B to your departure gate in D or E. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Me and a friend are travelling tomorrow from columbia, sc to Heathrow connecting in Houston. We have an hour and a half layover and one checked bad each. Will this be long enough? She is travelling on a UK passport

Yes, that should be plenty of time. You just have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

I will be coming in from Calgary, Canada on a United Airlines flight at 2:25pm, departing at 3:55pm for Lima, Peru also on a United Airlines flight. What terminal will I be arriving at and departing from and will I have enough time to get there? Will I have to recheck my baggage or go through customs/security again?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Calgary. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have plenty of time. You will arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal E.

Arriving at IAH on United 984 from Heathrow on August 15 @ 4:05pm. Leaving on United 1015 to Sacramento @ 5;50pm. How do I collect my bags-go through customs-get to my next domestic flight?

You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check the bags at the transfer desk, go to the departure level, go through security and to your departure gate.

My Husband (a green traveler) and my 17 year old daughter are travelling for her to play rugby in Colombia. They have a 35 minute stop over in Houston to catch their plane to Colombia....Is there any hope that they will make it? I have been sleepless worrying about this.. I understand they will arrive in terminal C and depart from terminal E....Do they have to do anything other than run like crazy? How far is it in real fast walking time from the 2 terminals?

Yes, all they have to do is go from the arrival gate to the departure gate. Some parts of Terminal C are literally right next to Terminal E. The worst case scenario is about a 5-10 minute run.

    Thanks...I'll sleep better tonight!

Well done! They made it with 20 minutes to spare!!!

  • conflict in iFly information

Have 40 minutes to connect from a United Express flight to a United domestic flight on Monday, December 15. IAH arrival and departure gates used for the flights on Monday, December 8, were B30 and C45. Information regarding IAH Terminal B on iFly.com conflicts. Narrative says Terminal B's SW concourse has Gates B21-B31. But the map of Terminal B shows Gates B60-B88; it does not include Gates B21-B31. Please confirm an error or otherwise explain the discrepancy.

Terminal B is under construction and the map is out of date. Take a look at this map, the location of B30 is quite clear. - http://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/airport/maps/iah.aspx

  • Minimum connecting time from EK ex DXB to UA SAT ?
    Dec 13, 2014

Hi , i am a little confused by the various posts on the subject. With only one carryon/no checked bags and in first class what would be the minimum time (offpeak season) to connect from an Emirates flight out of DXB to UA domestic (clearing CBP etc Thanks

The stated minimum time is 90 minutes, but realistically, considering you have no checked bags and will be in First class, you can do it in an hour. Be sure to check in online for your United flight before you leave Dubai.

That is much clearer , Thank you very much for your assistance , Thanks a million.

  • transit from E to C with 5 bags singlehanded?

Does the transit trains from Terminal E to C allow the use of luggage cart? I am traveling from terminal E after an international flight with 5 bags to terminal C. I am exiting in to Houston city from Terminal C where I am meeting my brother. Thank you for the information in advance

You would have to use the Inter-Terminal train because it is the one that runs outside security. Yes, you could probably bring a cart on that train. If you can't manage it, the inter-terminal train just really runs inside a hallway, and you could walk the cart from E to C.

Thank you. I have to ask one more time: are you certain I could walk the luggage cart from terminal E to C? it would not be good planning if I am unable to and then I don't catch up with the family!

IAH website says no carts on either train services!

The Inter-Terminal train is unattended, if you can get the cart down there, nobody will know. Why can't your brother just pick you up in Terminal E?

That is what we decided to do rather than break any rules!

I land in IAH at 4:42 PM from Toronto with a connecting flight to San luis Potosi Mexico at 7 PM. I am traveling with and infant on a baby carrier. Is that enough time 2hrs and 18 min to make the connecting flight? Will my checked luggage go through directly or do I have to claim it and go through security? I arrive in terminal B, what terminal do I leave from? How far is the walking distance or do I take a tram?

On your way to SLP all you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate, which will both be in Terminal B, in Houston. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Toronto. You have plenty of time.

Thank you ZAP! You are doing an amazing job. :D

I am travelling from Lubbock, arriving at terminal B IAH at 0930. I have 65 mins to make it to terminal E, departing at 1040. Is the transit time sufficient?

Yes, that is enough time. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

I land in IAH at 8:02 PM from Detroit with a connecting flight to Buenos Aires at 9 PM. Is that enough time to make the connecting flight? Will my checked luggage go through directly or do I have to claim it and go through security? What terminal do I arrive in and what terminal do I leave from? How far is the walking distance or do I take a tram?

Yes, that is enough time. You will arrive in Terminal B or C and depart from terminal E. If you arrive in B you will take the tram, if you arrive in C you can walk. Yes, your bags will be sent straight through, you will not have to go through security on your way to Buenos Aires.

  • 55 minute between flights?

I have a flight to Amsterdam on Dec 26 which departs at 1545 from terminal E. My flight from Phoenix to IAH doesn't arrive until 1445 to terminal C. I am only carrying on 1 bag. Will I be able to make this? Do I have to go through security in IAH?

You do not have to go through security in IAH. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 1 hr should be plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

  • From terminal C to E in 1 hour,20 min

Dear all, im travelling next week from Munich (Germany) to Houston and have 1 hour and 20 min for changing from Gate C to E where im supposed to catch my flight to Bogota (Colombia). Do you think this is possible? Or what are your suggestions regarding this theme? im so worried about this. I arrive at 14:20 and leaving at 15:40.. Thank you very much for helping me!

That is 10 minutes below the minimum time, but having no checked bags will save you some time. Both of your flights will be in Terminal E. Upon arrival in E, you will go through US Immigration and Customs, then go back to the departure level and through security.

Thank you so much for your answer! I have one bag that im going to check in Munich :( and this is not going directly to bogota. That will delay me more :( you still think i could make it?

Yes, you should still have enough time, but barely. If both of your flights are on united and you purchased your tickets together you may not have to claim your bag in Houston since you are on an International to International connection. Ask the agent in Munich.

Looking at United flights from ORD to IAH to Merida, Mexico. Layover in IAH is 41 minutes. Enough time to make the flight to Mexico? I'm not sure how much distance there is between the domestic terminal and the international. And even if I can make the connection, thoughts on whether my luggage makes it?

It's possible. You do have to move quickly and your first flight has to be on-time.

In Feb. we arrive from Seattle at 2:42 PM and fly out to Lima, Peru at 3:55 PM. Both flights are on United. We'll have carry on luggage only. Do we have enough time to make the connection?

Yes, that is plenty of time. All you have to do at IAH is walk from your arrival gate (in terminal C or E) to your departure gate in Terminal E.
