  • United connections for older couple

I am booking a trip for an older couple who are concerned about flight change in Houston. Traveling in May 2015 on a Friday from Orlando to Portland Oregon on UA Flight # 1026 arriving IAH 8:02am, connecting to UA #1175 to Portland with one hour between flights. I would think these flights would be in the same terminal but would like to confirm for these folks' peace of mind.

Yes, both flights will likely be in Terminal C. As long as their first flight is on-time they should have enough time.

Flying from LHR thru IAH to MID. Have 83 minutes to connect. Is this enough time? Do I need to go thru security in IAH?

That's a bit of a difficult connection. You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration and Customs, then go to the departure level and through security and to your departure gate which will also be in E. Since you are on an International to International connection you should not have to claim your bags but confirm that with the United agents in London and Houston.

Is that possible to walk from terminal C to Terminal D at IAH without taking the terminalLink train?

    Yes it is.

  • customs on a layover?

I am flying from puebla mexico to newark nj with a stop over in houston for 1.5 hours. I am wondering if I will have to go through passport control, pick up my luggage, and go thru customs all in houston and then go through security all over again? Will 1.5 hours be enough? Does my bag get checked all the way through to Newark? Thank you for any info

Yes, you will have to do all those things in Newark. Your bag will be tagged through to newark in Mexico but you will still have to claim it in Houston to go through US Customs. The re-check desk is immediately after customs.

From your experience, is 1.5 hours a long enough layover in IAH to get thru passport control, get bag, go thru customs, and then recheck, and get to the next terminal/gate? Thank you

    It should be enough time.

  • MCO to YYC in 35 minutes with 3 kids 6 and under?

We're Canadians on the way home from MCO to YYC on Apr. 8 via UA1026 and UA1279 but only have a 35 minute connection in IAH. Anyone know if we're likely to need to change terminals for that connection, and what the likelihood would be of making it in time, with a pregnant wife and 3 kids, 6 and under? Thanks for the advice!

Both of your flights will likely be in Terminal C or E, which are connected inside security. You have enough time as long as your first flight is on-time.

Jan 29th FLT UA 1447 from Cgy to Houston and then connection FLT UA1599 to RSW/No Fort Myers ( 1 hr 19mins connecting time ). What terminals do we arrive in and then depart from and do we have to rush to make connection ? thx

You will likely both arrive and depart in C. You will have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Calgary.

    Thanks for the info !!!

  • Enough time & how far apart are the gates?

We are seniors so I cannot run. Our United Express flight UA5237K lands at 10:40 am. Our connecting flight UA4984K to McAllen leaves at 11:28 am. How far apart are the gates and will we have problems getting to it on time?

Both flights will likely be in Terminal B. You should have plenty of time if your first flight is on-time.

I am flying into Houston on United and have a 45 minute layover to catch my next flight to Orlando. We have 4 adults and 2 infants (1.5 years old). Will we have enough time to make it? Do you have any tips?

The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security. You have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

If I were to fly from the Kansas City (MCI) airport to Houston (IAH), and have a 48 minute layover in IAH before my connecting flight leaves IAH for the Panama-Tocumen airport, would that 48 minute layover give me enough time to get to Terminal E? I understand I would not need to recheck my baggage during my layover....so 48 minutes should be enough time for me to make through all the security checkpoints and over to Terminal E, correct? Just want to make sure before switching my flight to this option! Thanks!

There are no security checkpoints. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security. All you would have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You would have enough time if your first flight is on-time.

Hi, i will arrive at 2:43pm in Houston from Cancun with a united airplane. My Connection fight departs at 4:05pm with lufthansa to frankfurt. Is that enough time? Do i have to claim my luggage And re check it? Thanks

That should barely be enough time. The United policy is that because you are on an International to International connection you will not have to claim your bags, but please confirm that with the united staff in Cancun and Houston. Also, note that you will still have to go through US Immigration and Customs.

Can we make a 59 minute connection flying from PHX, changing plane is Houston, to Bonnaire? Flying United

Yes, if your first flight is on-time that should be enough time. You just have to walk from Terminal C where you will arrive to E where you will depart.

  • Traveling from Punta Cana to Austin with a 25 minute layover in IAH?
    Jan 21, 2015

My travel agent booked me on my return flight from Punta Cana to Austin with only a 25 minute layover in IAH. Is that even possible? Will I have to go through customs or special security or lines coming back into the US? I think she made an irresponsible booking decision!

You are right. you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs in Houston. You need to call your travel agent, tell her she made a huge error and rebook you on a later flight to Austin.

we are traveling in june. we leave duelles with a 50 minute layover in Houston before continuing to punta cana. is 50 minutes enough time for 3 of us to make it from terminal A to terminal D? nervous about the length of layover.

What airlines are you flying? United does not use Terminal A or D. No airline that flies from Houston to Punta Cana uses Terminal D. If you are flying United you will likely arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal E.

  • 57 minutes connecting flight in Houston from Canada

Hello, I´m traveling from Italy to Mexico this next June. I will be traveling with one 5 year old and one 9 month old. I'm tempted to buy a ticket that flies from Milan to Toronto next Houston and finally Mexico. Unfortunatelly the connection time between flights in Houston is just 57 minutes. Is it possible to make it on time? Thanks

Yes, that is possible as you will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto, so all you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If they are in different terminals the TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.
