  • MEX to LGA via IAH
    Jul 29, 2015
Hi, i have a 95 minute connection but i've heard that immigration can be crazy. my flight lands at 8:40am and my connecting to LGA is at 10:15am. I don't have GE. Is this enough time or should i just reschedule for the 12:45pm flight? thanks!

It's possible. If you haven't booked your tickets yet I would probably go with the 12:45 flight, but it's possible to do your connection in 95 minutes if everything goes smoothly.

  • Connection Time from Canadian Flight

Flying from Toronto to Austin with a connection in Houston. Once i get off the plane in Houston do i need to go through security/customs or can i simply walk to my gate? Is a 70 mins connection time enough?

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All gates are connected inside security.

  • Enough time?

My United flight from Denver arrives at Houston 1:30 pm and my United connection to Panama City leaves at 2:20 pm. Is 50 minutes usually enough to make our flight and is there a good chance for our checked bags to make it as well?

Yes, if your first flight is on-time you will probably make it and so will your bag. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

  • Flight by United with connection through IAH
    Jul 28, 2015
I'm going to travel to the US, and my flight has a connection at IAH. The time to get to the next flight is 1h58min. I will arrive at Terminal E and, since my second flight is domestic, then I will have to go to terminal B by train, right? Is there any guide of what I should expect? I've never been to a flight before, never walked through an airport before, so I'm afraid that this first time might be too overwhelming. I'll have to clear immigration, so I will have way less than 2 hrs to go from one terminal to another, for the very first time. This seems too much for a beginner to do alone. Should I be worried? Is there any guide or walkthrough of what to expect?

It should be enough time. You will arrive in Terminal E, go through US Immigration, follow signs and instructions to get in the right line to do so, then claim your bags, then go through US Customs (you just hand a form to a guy and walk through), then you will re-check your bags at the United Airlines re-check desk that will be right after that, then you will follow signs to departures and security, go through security and then follow signs to your departure gate. That may involve taking the train to Terminal B if your flight is operated by United Express. Check your departure gate on the monitors or on your mobile phone at united.com or the United app.

  • Connection time
    Jul 28, 2015
Hi I am looking for flight back home and are worried about connection time. I found an offer flying from Grand Cayman to IAH and then have to get a connection flight to Washington Dulles Intl IAD and from there I fly on to South Africa. They only allou 1hr24min for my to get from IAH international terminal to the domestic terminal. Im not sure if I can clear customs security etc. in shuch a short time. Please help

That's 6 minutes below the minimum International to domestic connection time in Houston and about 30 minutes shorter than I recommend. is there a later flight leaving Houston that still gets you to IAD in-time for the flight to South Africa?

  • Connection and Customs

I am flying in from Ecuador 9/07/15 on Avianca. I'll need to go through customs and I plan on a connecting flight to Phoenix on Frontier. Arrival time is 1310 and departure time is 1525, Is that sufficient time or should I book the next flight at 1925.

I would book the 1925 flight. You will have to transfer your bags yourself outside security on the Inter-Terminal Train from Terminal D to Terminal A to re-check them with Frontier. I don't think a little over 2 hours is enough time to do that when you consider you will have to go through US Immigration and Customs first.

Thank you very much for your reply

I'm arriving at IAH from Denver via UAL. I have 35 minutes to get to UAL departure gate to Panama City Panama. Will that be enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time if your first flight is on-time. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate both on Concourse B.

  • Connection
    Jul 27, 2015
I'm traveling from London to lax via Houston and i have only 60 min. is necessary to go to passport office to check in or i must go direct to my other connection.

Yes, in Houston you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the re-check desk, then go through security and to your gate. The minimum time to do this is 90 minutes and I recommend 2 hours. Contact your travel agent or United to get rebooked on a later flight to LAX. They should do this without a change fee as this is an illegal connection.

  • Connecting flights

Hi I'm a british citizen & I'm flying from Miami to San Francisco and we stop off at Houston IAH aiport, I only have 40 minutes between my flight from Miami landing & then departing from Houston. I'm flying with United Airlines, will 40 mind be enough time? I'll have checked a bag in at Miami & will I need to go through customs again ( I did this we I arrived at Miami) ?? Thanks

You do not go through Customs on domestic flights. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. 40 minutes is enough time if your first flight is on-time. Both flights will likely be in Terminal C.

  • Enough time ?
    Jul 25, 2015
Flying from Guatemala and going to Paris through Houston and Chicago, we just have 1h15 to go from terminal E to the terminal C. Is it enough ? Do we need ESTA ? We are Europeen and we can change the time btw.

That will be very difficult. The minimum international to Domestic connection time at IAH is 90 minutes. Yes, you will have to complete ESTA.

  • International connection and baggage re check-in?
    Jul 24, 2015
Hi, I'm arriving to IAH from Europe on July 31st and need to catch my connection flight to Guatemala. Do I need to pick up my luggage, go through customs and re check-in again (drop the luggage agian, etc) to take my connection? How long are waiting lines for customs at around 18:00 on a friday? Thanks a lot in advance.

Since you are on an International to International connection on United through IAH you should not have to claim and re-check your bags. I can't accurately predict immigration and customs wait times, but 90 minutes should be sufficient for your transfer and 2 hours is even better.

  • 40 mins enough layover time to get from Terminal C to E?
    Jul 23, 2015
Hi there I have a return flight on 15-Aug from Aruba landing at IAH at 20:10 (Terminal C) and my next flight departing IAH to UK at 20:50 from IAH Terminal E. I'm concerned I may not make this latter flight. Will I have enough time? Do I have to go through security? What is the fastest way to get from Terminal C to E. Any help will be most appreciated.

No need to ask the same question twice.

  • Connecting from international to regional/domestic flight
    Jul 21, 2015
I will be coming in from an international flight, landing in Terminal D at IAH. I need to then proceed to the domestic/regional terminal (Terminal B?)in order to catch a flight to Little Rock. These flights are not under the same reservation as I purchased them separately. Is it possible to check-in for the Little Rock flight at Terminal D, after customs? Or must I collect my luggage and proceed to Terminal B and check-in at the Terminal B check-in counter? Thanks in advance.

No, You must collect your baggage and take it to a United Check-In counter. since you are departing Terminal B, it would be best to take the Inter-Terminal Train to Terminal B and use the check-in counter there. Note that you will also have to pay a checked bag fee. You could check in and pay for your bags online before you leave on your first flight saving you a little time in Houston.

  • Connecting to Air China
    Jul 20, 2015
I am flying Wednesday from Tulsa (UAL) to Beijing (Air China). I have two large checked bags. Do I need to claim these and recheck? How can I get with my bags to Terminal D?

If both tickets were purchased on the same reservation all you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Really? That would be great - when I've flown out of LAX I always had to recheck because of changing airlines.

  • Need wheelchair assistance and dont have much time between flights
    Jul 20, 2015
I have a connecting flight thorugh Houston from Brazil to Canada, I need wheelchair assistance between terminals, I arrive at Terminal E and depart from Termnal A. Do I have to go through security again and will I have time? I'm not a seasoned traveller so am more than a bit nervous.

Yes, you will have to go through security again in Terminal A, but the Wheelchair assistance person will bring you to the front of the line. I don't know if you have time because you didn't post how much time you have.
