1 mother with 2 children age 8 and 10, arriving from Caracas on United 1045 at 12:25 pm, connecting to LAX on United 1121 at 2:20 pm. Is 2 hours enough time to clear immigration, customs, and so on? Need to change terminals? Thanks

Yes, that should be enough time if everything goes smoothly. You will arrive in Terminal E and depart from Terminal C, which are connected to each other.

    Thanks so much ZAP :-)

Im flying in on United UA - 1789 at 6:30pm and Departing on Air New Zealand NZ - 29 at 8:00pm.... is this enough time to clear customs? And which terminals will i be using? Thanks!

Where are you flying into IAH from?

    Calgary, Canada

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Calgary. All you have to do in IAH is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time. You will arrive in Terminal C and depart from Terminal D.

Oh ok great! Thank you for the speedy replies!

  • Adequate Connection Time?

Flying from Lib Costa Rica to Sea Tac. Arrive at IAH 5:15 PM depart 7:00 PM all UAL one ticket. (Connection is listed in UAL on line.) I have NEXUS. Do I have enough time? Is it risky?

ADDITIONALLY: the flight is on Wednesday , Jan 25. UAL had canceled this flight earlier, forcing me to take a 7:50 AM flight from Lib. (with a 3 hour layover). Now they have re-instated it, and I am considering re-booking.

You can't use NEXUS unless you are coming from Mexico or Canada. That connection time is sufficient.

I arrive at IAH on 12/10 Saturday 8:35 pm and then have to catch a flight to Santiago, Chile at 9:35. 1 hour layover, will I make it in time? And which terminals will I be going to/from?

Yes, that should be enough time if the first flight is on-time. You will arrive in Terminal C or E and depart from Terminal E if both flights are on United. All you have to do is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

I have a similar conenction will the fact that its international cause me to go through additonal security/screening compared to a domestic flight

No, there is no special security or screening for International flights.

I will arrive in Houston on a united flight, then I need to change airline to Emirates, do I need to get out the terminal and enter again? or inside the terminal I can check in on Emirates desk?

Yes, you will have to exit the secure area, claim your bags, go to the Emirates check-in desk in Terminal D, re-check your bags, go through security and to your departure gate.

  • Flying in from New Zealand

Hi, I'm flying in from New Zealand on the 22 Dec landing at 1:45pm. Then catching the 4:15pm to NYC. Is this enough time to clear immirgation, get luggage, clear customs and travel inter-terminal? I'm getting info that says check-in for NYC closes at 2:15pm - is that right for a 4:15pm flight to NYC?

Yes, that is enough time if both flights are on the same reservation. That check-in cutoff is incorrect and you will be checked in for both flights in New Zealand if they are both on the same reservation.

    Many thanks, appreciate it

Hello I am leaving from Queretaro México to Huston ( UA6164) and then Huston to LAX (UA1121) i am a US citizen. do you know what terminal i have to go through and If i have to re check my bags or where to pick them up? (First time alone and second flight in my life) and is this enough time ? I have a two hour layover

You will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate, likely in Terminal C. You have just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

  • Connecting flight

Hi,I'm traveling from Cayman Islands to Houston and to Las Vegas. I have 1hr 54mins time. So you think that is too close or will be able to get there? With 2 check in bags.

It's possible if everything goes smoothly, it doesn't leave much room for error though.

  • Morning security time and 90 minute international transfer?

Hi, I'm flying UA from DEN --> IAH --> Monterrey, MX (MTY). Outbound, I arrive at IAH at 11:09pm with next day flight to MTY at 7:25a. How early should I get to IAH in order to clear security?(possibly PreCheck, I didn't book it and am not sure if KnownTraveler# will carry through, I have no status on UA) On Return flight, I am very nervous. Arrive at IAH at 7:30a, connection to DEN at 9:00a. Is there any hope or should I push for rebooking? Thanks so much. I'll share my experiences when (if) I return.

I would get to the airport at about 5:45 AM. On the return you should be fine if you have Global Entry. It will be close if you don't.

Thanks ZAP. I do have Global Entry, so I'll keep things as they are. One other question. In your opinion, is the Centurion Lounge nice enough that I should try to be through security in the morning with enough time to check it out?

  • Enough time to clear customs & make connecting flight

US citizen arriving at IAH from Buenos Aires on United, connecting on to OKC, also on United. Can I make this in 2 hr 5 min? Or do I need to take next flight to OKC, allowing for 3 hr 50 min layover. Thank you

Personally, I'd book the 3 hr 50 minute, but the 2 hr 5 min is not impossible.

Thank you! I agree - a little breathing room is best!

Hi, I'm flying Delta from LGA to IAH and then Spirit from IAH to SJD (Cabo). I have 81 minutes in between. I assume this is fine, considering it's same terminal so I just go from arrival gate to departure gate (no customs or immgration as I'm leaving US)? Even if I have to leave and re-enter through security, I feel like I definitely have more than enough time? I'm more worried about the trip back... SJD to IAH on Spirit, then IAH to LGA on Delta. I have 90 minutes in between. Is this enough to clear immigration and customs in terminal D or E, travel to terminal A, go through security and make the second flight? I have global entry and TSA pre check. However, my companion with same itinerary does not... Any thoughts would be helpful!

I agree that it should be enough on the way there but is borderline impossible on the way back.

Do you think we should cancel and book different flights?

Well, Spirit flights aren't changeable. I guess I would just try it and if you miss it, you'll just have to pay the same day change fee with Delta. It would be cheaper than paying $200 per person now in change fees.

Hi - I'm traveling from DEN to IAH and then on to the Cayman Islands. I only have 70 minutes between connections at IAH. Do I have to go through customs at IAH and do I have enough time? Thanks.

Yes, that is enough time. There is no US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. You have enough time.

  • CCS - IAH - FLL - TPA

I'll be traveling on December from Caracas airport to Tampa airport, so far I have two flight options: One makes a connection on IAH, and the other one makes a connection on IAH and FLL. Both require terminal changes. What I'd like to know: Do I have to claim and re-check my bags when I get to IAH or FLL? Both flights are from United, the one that makes the connection on FLL also has a flight from Silver Airways.

In Houston you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, re-check your bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to your departure gate. I would try to book the flight that goes directly from Houston to Tampa. Connecting to Silver at FLL is a bit of a hassle.

Hi, Is 49 min connection in IAH enough? Not checking bags. Coming from Pittsburgh going to Cabo San Lucas. Flying United. What terminal are we expected to fly into and what terminal will we be flying out of to catch flight to Cabo San Lucas? Thank you.

That is enough time. You will arrive in Terminal B or C and depart from Terminal E. However, you have no time to spare if the flight from Pittsburgh is late.
