I will be arriving from LHR at 14.00 and connecting with united to LAX in september 4th.the flight to LAX is at 17.00 booked on seperate tickets.is that enough time?

Yes, that should be enough time. Assuming both flights are on United you can show your second confirmation to the agent in London and they can tag your bag through to LAX. You will still have to claim your bag in Houston to go through US Customs, but that will speed up the process of re-checking it.

Sorry i forgot to say my incoming flight is with BA.

That should still be enough time then. It just means that upon arrival in Terminal D and clearing customs, you will have to take your bags to the United check in counter in Terminal C. Follow signs to the Inter-Terminal Train that will bring you to Terminal C.

  • Houston to Costa Rica and back
    Mar 8, 2015
I'm flying from Orange County CA to Costa Rica, with stops by directions in Houston, all flights on United. I have ~1:10 each time to connect. Going to Costa Rica should be fine, there's no customs to go through. But coming back, how long should I expect to wait for customs in Houston and will I have to claim my bags and take them through customs before boarding from Houston to Orange County? just over an hour seems like too little time to claim bags and go through customs.

On your return flight 70 minutes is insufficient. You need to contact United or your travel agent to be rebooked.

  • International Flight Outbound Connection - Need to recheck baggage?
    Mar 8, 2015
My mother is Flying from Raleigh,NC to Bogota, Colombia making one stop in Houston. I know she will check bags in RDU but not sure if she needs to recheck them in IAH?. If so, how? also what terminals will she need to walk from and to?

She will not need to do anything with her bags in Houston on her way to Bogota. She will arrive in Terminal B or C and depart from E. C is directly connected to E and B is connected to E inside security by the TerminaLink Train.

    Great! Thanks

  • FLIGHT connection - CUSTOMS - Enough time????!?
    Mar 8, 2015
I am an EU citizen and I fly from Jackson JAN to Montreal YUL with TWO stopovers: first Houston IAH (55 minutes) and next Toronto YYZ (95 minutes) ---> My question is: where will I go through customs? Is this in Jackson or Houston: if this is in Houston will 55 minutes be enough???!?

You will go through Canadian Immigration and Customs in Toronto. You do not go through US Customs when leaving the US. All you have to do in Houston is walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate. The TerminaLink train connects all Terminals inside security.

I am fying from DC to Honduras via Houston, I have 45 minutes to get to Terminal E, will I make it on time? Do I have to take a train to go terminal E?

The first flight will probably arrive in Terminal C, which is directly connected to Terminal E. You should have barely enough time if your first flight is on-time.

  • Connection between Domestic Gates to International Gates

Only have 35 minutes between United Flights from Tulsa to Houston leaving for San Jose del Cabo. Is that enough time to get to terminal D or E from B or C

You will depart from Terminal E. That is barely enough time for the transfer if your flight from Tulsa is on-time.

  • Terminal A to Terminal C

We arrive at Terminal A at 3:50PM and depart from Terminal C at 4:40PM. What is the easiest way to get from one to the other and is 1 hour enough time?

Assuming both tickets were purchased together, you just take the TerminaLink Train. It connects all terminals inside security. You should have plenty of time.

  • 1.10 layover from AMS to MCO via IAH
    Mar 5, 2015
Hi, I have a flight booked from AMS to MCO (LH7987 operated by United) on May 1. ETA on IAH is14:45 at terminal E, connecting flight (U1644) depatures at 15:55 from terminal C. So a layover of 1.10 with 2 kids. Is that layover realistic, dealing with migration, bagage claim and transfer, transfer to gate , getting out of the plan etc? Thanks!

No, that is not realistic. You need at least 90 minutes, preferably a little longer, to make that connection.

  • Terminal D to E connection time

I have 2:40 hours between my arrival from Belize and then to catch the BA flight back to London - is that sufficient time? Do we need to clear customs? How long does it take to transfer?

Did you book your tickets separately or together. You will have to go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags with British Airways then go through security. You should have barely enough time.

    i book the tickets separetly

how much time do you think it will take then? flight arrives at 3pm on Tues 10th March and BA departs 5:40pm on same day ie 2:40 mins later.

Checked United flight times and it appears the arrival is now schedule 8mins earlier at 2:48 so now 2:52 hours to transfer.

You will probably be out of customs by about 3:50 at the latest. So that's still nearly 2 hours before your BA flight. It might take you 10 minutes to get to the BA check in desk, so as long as your flight from BZE is on-time, you should be OK.

We are travelling on UK passports will that make any difference as not US citizens?

Oh yes and we are travelling biz with United and First with BA?

Sorry ZAP but you did not reply to make last 2 queries if i may ask again? We are travelling on UK passports will that make any difference as not US citizens? We are travelling biz with United and First with BA? does the above affect the position at all.

You will have to complete ESTA before your trip, if you have never visited the US on ESTA before you will have a slightly slower line, but being business class means you will be the first off the UA plane and have priority baggage check with BA, so it will save you some time.

Thanks. We have ESTA already so do you think we stand a good to make the connection. BA advised to check in on line and then latest at the secruity gate is 35 mins before flight time. That's 2:13 hours to get through Enough time?

  • Connection time for Terminal B international arrival
    Mar 4, 2015
I will be arriving into IAH Terminal B from Manzanillo Mexico, with a 1h34min connection before carrying on to New Orleans. What does terminal B customs look like, will I need to claim and recheck my luggage, and is this enough time to make the connection? Thanks!

There is no customs in Terminal B. United Express flights from Mexico arrive into Terminal D. Yes, you will go through US Immigration, claim your bags, go through US Customs, then re-check your bags at the transfer desk. Then you will go through security and to your departure gate. Most flights to New Orleans depart from Terminal C, which is directly connected to D. Though some leave from B, connected by the TerminaLink train.

Also, you should have enough time to make your connection.

  • LGA - IAH - PVR

We are flying on United Airlines from La Guardia to Puerto Vallarta. Our layover in Houston is 49 minutes. Is that enough to switch terminals? Thanks!

YOu will arrive in C and depart from E. They are directly connected. That should be enough if your first flight is on-time.

  • Connection to terminal E from B
    Mar 4, 2015
I am arriving at terminal B and my connecting flight is at terminal E. Can I take the terminallink to terminal C then walk to terminal E from terminal C?

The TerminaLink actually has a stop for D and E.

  • Customs and Houston time
    Mar 4, 2015
Will be flying to Belize City from Winnipeg Canada. Flying to Edmonton first. Do I go through customs in Edmonton? Will my luggage be checked through to Belize? From Edmonton I fly to Houston and then to Belize City. Coming home, I have a 1hr 47 min layover in Houston. Is this enough time? I will need to connect I think, terminal A for Calgary Canada.

You will go through US Immigration and customs in Edmonton. You will have to claim your luggage in Edmonton to go through preclearance and then won't touch it again until you get to Belize. You should have plenty of time in Houston. The TerminaLink train connects all terminals inside security.

Thanks so much for your answer. No one I talked to seem to know.

  • 32 MINUTES
    Mar 4, 2015
I am flying from RSW (Ft Myers) to DEN (Denver) however I have a layover in IAH (Houston) and the layover time is 32 mins! How will I know if I need to change terminals and if I do is this enough time to change flights?

Both flights will likely be in Terminal C. You should barely have enough time if your first flight is on-time. If you do miss your connection United flies almost hourly flights between IAH and DEN that you can be rebooked on.

If I'm rebooked does that mean I have to purchase another ticket?

No, it just means the airline puts you on a different flight, free of charge.

  • Ottawa, Toronto, Houston, Belize and back

Flying into Houston Int. Airport from Toronto, Canada and have checked baggage from Toronto. Do I have to go through customs, pick up checked baggage and then get another boarding pass for Belize and go through customs again...also do you know what terminal I arrive in from Toronto, Canada and what gate I have to fly out of to get to Belize from Houston...

You will pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in Toronto. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. If you are flying Air Canada from Toronto you will arrive in Terminal A and if you are flying United you will arrive in B or C. You will depart to Belize from Terminal E. The TerminaLink train connects All Terminals inside security and as long as your tickets were purchased together your bags will be checked through to Belize in Ottawa and you should be issued all your boarding passes there. On the return trip, in Houston, that is when you will go through US Immigration and customs and go through security. You should not have to claim your bags because you are on an International to International connection but confirm that with the United agents in Belize and Houston.
