  • Catching a connecting flight to Cancun

Hello- I'm flying into Terminal C from Kansas City tomorrow with a 37 minute layover before my next flight heads out of Terminal E to Cancun. I was wondering if we will need to recheck our bags in Houston before jumping on the flight to Cancun...

No, you don't have to do anything with your bags in Houston on your way to Cancun. There is no US Customs when exiting the US.

I arrive from London on United in the afternoon with 72 minutes to connect to Costa Rica (Liberia) - carry on luggage only. Will I have to change terminals and do I have a chance at all of making this connection? there is a one-stop process for customs, does that work? I have a US passport

Further to my question above, I arrive and depart from terminal E. Will I have to go back through security or is there an international transfer?

Yes, you can go through One-Stop Immigration and Customs and then security. If your flight is on-time you can barely make it assuming your flight from London arrives on-time.

My daughter arrives at IAH at 1:15pm on Friday 8 January (travelling from Auckland New Zealand and is booked on a United flight to Orlando at 2:45pm Terminal C). The travel agent says this is enough time so hopefully it is. Will she need to uplift her bags at IAH - and if she does where does she take them for her next flight.

She will arrive in Terminal D, go through US Immigration, claim her bags, go through US Customs, re-check her bags at the re-check desk, go through security and to her departure gate. She has just enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I'm flying from Chicago to Vegas with a layover at IAH in February. Would 50 minutes from the time I land until my next flight be enough time? Would I have to go through security again?

That should be enough time if the first flight is on-time. No you do not have to go through security again. Both gates will likely be in Terminal C.

I am arriving in Houston (from Liberia, Costa Rica) March 16th at 6:40pm, my connecting flight is Houston to St. Louis at 7:45. Will I have enough time or should I book a different flight (the next one isn't until the next day so I'd have to spend the night in Houston).

You will have to book a different flight. 1 hr 5 minutes is definitely not enough time to make an International to Domestic connection in Houston.

Thank you. I got the same answer from Southwest Airlines. I went ahead and booked for the next day (so glad you can change your tickets with Southwest for free!)

Oh, if you're flying Southwest then please also note that you will be flying from Houston Hobby airport, not Houston-Bush Intercontinental. If your flight from Liberia is not on Southwest, then you will have to change airports.

Yes, thank you! I made sure they were both Hobby.

Traveling United from OKC to Houston landing at 4:28pm. My connection to Victoria (VCT) is at 5pm. Carry on only. Is this possible? I don't know how I can get gate/map info w/o booking the tickets first.

I don't think that's reasonably possible. The airline that flies to Victoria, Texas Sky, does not have online check in or a counter inside security. You will have to exit security in Terminal A to get your Texas Sky boarding pass and then go back through security. That means you'll have to arrive in Houston more like 3:30 to have enough time.

I will be arriving in Houston from Calgary I will have 1 hour and 52 min(if everything is on time) will that be enough time to make my connecting flight to Costa Rica?

Yes, that should be enough time. You will pre-clear US Immigration and customs in Calgary. All you have to do in Houston is go from your arrival gate to your departure gate. All terminals are connected inside security.

I am flying from USA (New Orleans) to Mexico City via Houston. I have a UK passport although will already have been in US for a while by then. As I am coming from USA will I be able to connect more quickly in Houston, i.e. in 1 hour?

there is no US Immigration or Customs when exiting the US. You only have to go from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Houston. All gates in Houston are connected inside security. You will arrive in Terminal B or C and depart from Terminal B or E (likely E). You have enough time if your flight is on-time. You will show your passport to the gate agent when boarding your flight to Mexico and then go through Mexican immigration and customs when you get to Mexico City.

  • Short international connection?

Will I make an international connection to Costa Rica with 50 min between arrival terminal A and departure terminal E?

It's possible but leaves no time to spare if the first flight is delayed. The Skyway train connects all terminals inside security.

I will arrive via Singapore Airlines international flight at Terminal E @ 1415, and need to get a connecting American Airlines domestic flight at Terminal A @ 1604. Assuming I need to collect my luggage (not checked through), will I have enough time considering immigration and customs? If I need to re-check my luggage at an AA counter, can I do this somewhere inside Terminal E, or do I have to exit the terminal? Thanks in advance!

Additional note : These flights are on 2 different e-tickets.

You will arrive, go through US Immigration, claim your bags, and go through US Customs. Then you have to take your bags with you on the Subway train to Terminal A and re-check them at the American Airlines counter and go through security. You have barely enough time if everything goes smoothly.

I will be traveling from Omaha to Punta Cana June 2016. I have connection in Houston both ways. 1hr going and 1 hrs 50 mins coming back. Is this long enough? I am flying UNITED and all fights are on the same reservation. Thanks!

Yes that should be enough time.

  • From Terminal D to Terminal E

I am arriving from Frankfurt (Lufthansa) at 2:05pm, Terminal D and connecting to Cancun (United) at 3:58pm, Terminal E. Is my luggage going to be checked all the way from Frankfurt to Cancun? Will I have to go through US immigration and re-check my baggage? My connection layover is 1:50 is this enough? Thank you.

You will have to go through US Immigration, customs and security. You will have to ask the agents in Houston whether you have to claim your bags or not.

Thank you. Do you think 1hr 50mins is enough time to go thru customs and security from D to E?

If everything goes smoothly it is enough time.

  • flying into IAH from Santiago, Chile with only 90 min between flights

we leave soon for our United flight from santiago, Chile to IAH and then have 90 minutes before we continue on United to San Francisco. Is that enough time to clear customs? Not sure why United would let us book this if it weren't. Ugh. Please advise quickly if possible. Thanks so much

That is just enough time if everything goes smoothly. If there is a delay you will be rebooked on the next available flight to San Francisco. United has lots of flights from Houston to San Francisco.

United flight arriving 12:09; Skywest flight leaving 12:50. Baggage checked thru. Is this doable?

It is possible if the first flight is on-time. The skyway train connects all terminals inside security.

I was wondering, based off the IAH map on their website for Terminal C, will I be able to walk from the north side of C to the south side of C without having to re-enter security?

    Yes it is
